Protect against toxic chemicals
kareval
by kareval  10-28-2009    1
I am shocked and deeply disturbed that the law that is supposed to protect Americans from exposure to toxic chemicals is so outdated that China is allowed to export toxic materials into the United States that are not only banned in Japan and Europe, but can't even be used domestically in China. Every American alive today, including newborn babies, has hundreds of chemicals flowing through their blood. Many of these chemicals are linked to prostate and breast cancers, diabetes, heart disease, lowered sperm counts, early puberty and other diseases and disorders. Yet, of the 82,000 chemicals available for use in the U.S., only about 200 have been required to be tested for safety. And the EPA has succeeded in banning only one group of chemicals, PCBs, from the marketplace. It's time to reform the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). I urge you to support legislation that will: view more 1. Take immediate action to stop the use of the most dangerous toxic chemicals; 2. Give

Autism linked to MMR Vaccine
Autism-Autistic
by Autism-Autistic  5-2-2008
Doing a DNA Allergy Reprogramming clearing for the effects of the various vaccinations we received from infancy is far more than just a preventative measure. Think about it, in some cases moments after we are born a barrage of vaccinations begins. If you attacked any other organ in a babies body like this how do you suppose it would respond? This continues intermittently throughout infancy into puberty - the formative years for our immune system too. Funny that it didn’t stop most of us from getting measles, mumps, chicken pocks in fact we’re encouraged to do so. It was a bit alarming when we were told that these mandated vaccinations contained some pretty toxic stuff.

It should be a wake-up call. There is accumulating evidence that male sperm count is dropping and that genital abnormalities in newborn boys are increasing. There is also some evidence from both humans and monkeys that endometriosis, a gynecological disorder, is linked to exposure to endocrine disruptors. Researchers also suspect that the disruptors can cause early puberty in girls. “This can influence brain development, sperm counts or susceptibility to cancer, even where the animal at birth seems perfectly normal.”

The researcher said he believes illicit use of THC during adolescence produces persistent changes in the brain that sensitize females to the negative effects of THC later in life. A group of 12 female rats, 35 days old -- an age equivalent to that of human teenagers about to undergo puberty -- began to be exposed to THC chronically for 40 days. Half had had their ovaries removed when they were 30 days old, half retained their ovaries. The day after the 12 females finished the period of exposure, they underwent an extensive training process consisting of pressing colored keys in a specific sequence in order to obtain food pellets. The female rats went from a 25 percent error rate to 50 percent error rate, Winsauer told United Press International. The study was presented at Experimental Biology 2009 as part of the scientific program of the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics in New Orleans.

US Should Follow Europe's Lead on Toxins
brightlight4
by brightlight4  2-26-2009
The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics lists numerous toxins that appear regularly in cosmetics and personal care products, among them lead and phthalates. Phthalates are linked to birth defects, including disruption of genital development in boys, decreased sperm counts and infertility. Lead actually appears in lipstick and hundreds of other products. The CSC reports that "lead ... is a proven neurotoxin -- linked to learning, language and behavioral problems ... miscarriage, reduced fertility in both men and women, hormonal changes, menstrual irregularities and delays in puberty onset in girls." This is the stuff women and girls are putting on their lips all day, licking off and reapplying. The European Union, with 27 member nations representing almost half a billion people, is asserting itself on issues of toxins, using serious economic muscle. Stavros Dimas, European Union commissioner for environment, explained the long-term benefits of regulation: "The medical expenses for chemical-r

PIMPIN OUR DAUGHTERS
Eaglewings
by Eaglewings  2-24-2007    5
In the words of Hillary Clinton ' It takes a village' why does it take scientific studies and polls to make us aware of what is going on in our own families and culture? I mean does it really require society to tell us what is wrong with our families? DADS must someone else tell you what is appropriate behavior for your sons and daughters? As long as there is pop culture and idols are made of television stars our young people will be tempted to look like what they see on TV and in the movies. Perhaps a return to decency and a little old fashion modesty is in order?

The Phenomena of Stunted Growth in Young Black Women
zizzy
by zizzy  1-3-2009    1
While more research is needed, this study does offer insight into why young girls from lower socioeconomic classes have been menstruating as early as age 8. Consider the results of a 2002 study published in Pediatrics and discussed in the following Web M.D. article. About 10% of white girls and 15% of black girls in the study had started menstruating before age 11, which is considered early menarche. Early menarche has been linked to an increased risk of breast cancer, obesity, and miscarriage. http://www.webmd.com/baby/news/20021009/girls-menstruating-earlier

Extreme Early Puberty On The Rise
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  11-8-2008    4
I can't seem to find anything in English yet, (so the wording may be odd in the clip, it's a translated page) but there has been a dramatic rise in the number of very young girls, coming into early puberty these last years. Girls as young as 4 years old (!!!), have been reported to be developing breasts and growing pubic hair. Something is terribly wrong. Pesticides? Plastics? GMO's? Chemicals? I don't know, but this is an ominous trend, we should watch carefully.

Doubt in FDA View Of BPA
aklimento
by aklimento  10-28-2008
BPA, first synthesized in 1891, is used to harden plastics, and it appears in everything from baby bottles to sunglasses. Studies suggest BPA may be associated with a variety of problems, including Type-2 diabetes, prostate cancer, genital defects in men, early onset of puberty in women and behavioral problems. There much more around. Triclosan in fluid soaps, shampoos and toothpaste, 90% positive tests for pesticides in random urine tests, transfat oils... Looks like weapons of mass destruction.:(
