POPSVirgin Girls Raped Before Execution in Iran At first glance, one may think that it is the religion, Islam, that forbids the execution of virgins, but this is not so. Islam has no problem executing virgins no matter how young they are; after all if one can marry a 9 year old then certainly one should be able to execute a 9 year old. The actual problem is that virgins are promised a place in Paradise; and this is precisely what repulses the Imams in Iran. To prevent these young criminals, some as young as 9 years old, from entering Paradise, they passed a law forbidding the execution of virgins and to make sure they went to Hell, these Islamic old farts also mandated that virgins be raped married on the night before their execution to prevent their arrival in Paradise. As for the rape of female prisoners, Islam not only allows but encourages the rape of prisoners-of-war, slaves, enemies of the Islamic state as well as civil prisoners, male or female

POPSChristmas bomb bid complicates Gitmo plan Christmas Day bombing attempt aboard Northwest Flight 253, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, reportedly spent time in Yemen after graduating from a London university in 2008. According to ABC News, Abdulmutallab has told authorities that, while in Yemen, Al Qaeda operatives crafted the explosive device that was sewn into Abdulmutallab’s underwear. “Yesterday just highlights the fact that sending this many people back — or any people back — to Yemen right now is a really bad idea,” said Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R-Mich.), the ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee. “It’s just dumb. ... If you made a list of what the three dumbest countries would be to send people back to, Yemen would be on all the lists.” “I think it’s a major mistake,” Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) said about prisoner releases to Yemen.

POPSDripping Irony, Illinois Can't House Its Own Prisoners, Welcomes GITMO Terrorists state prison in rural Illinois to be the new home for a limited number of terrorist suspects held at Guantanamo. Administration officials as well as Illinois Sen. Richard Durbin and Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn will make an official announcement at the White House. So Illinois is so broke it has prisoners, it has an empty prison, it can't afford to pay to put the inmates in the prison so it releases them and sells out. Hey ya'll remember what state our President was from? Yeah that's right Illinois. Just think, now the nation can benefit from the same leadership that Illinois politicians give their state.

POPSSign Stolen From Auschwitz Is Found There are many such *camps* throughout history. It's good to keep the most recent alive to remind us of the depravity of mankind. I'm certain that the stealing of the "sign" is probably a media gift but it keeps the horror of all dictators/tyrants in the forefront of History.

POPSMaking People Disappear: Our Tax Dollars at Work
"In addition to publicly listed field offices and detention sites, ICE is holding prisoners in 186 unlisted, unmarked locations, many in suburban office parks or commercial spaces." Sounds kind of totalitarian, doesn't it? Alternet has had a BOOM week in great articles. Check it out! More from the article below: Alison Parker, deputy director of Human Rights Watch, wrote a December comprehensive report on ICE transit policies, "Locked Up Far Away." ...... violates the UN's Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, to which the United States is a signatory. She explained that the government must provide "an impartial authority to review the lawfulness of custody. Part and parcel is the ability of somebody to find the person and to make their presence known to a court." The challenge of being unable to find people in detention centers, documented in the Human Rights Watch report, is worsened when one does not even know where to look.....ICE has created a network of secret jails."

POPSHamas is once again very clear - it wants to destroy Israel.... It's a genocidal organization... In a long, defiant speech on Monday afternoon, Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh said that gaining control of the Gaza Strip was "just a step toward liberating all of Palestine." "This movement liberated the Gaza Strip with the help of the militant factions," said Haniyeh, referring to terrorist groups operating under the umbrella of Palestinian resistance. "Brothers and sisters, we will not be satisfied with Gaza," he declared. "Hamas looks toward the whole of Palestine."

POPSA Bill Of Rights--Now And Then "Research shows that students who have the opportunity to participate in simulations such as legislative hearings, mock trials and, yes, even constitutional conventions not only learn more but develop greater civic skills and interest in politics. Although we need to make sure our children are proficient in math and reading, it is vitally important to the future of our democracy that they also learn what it means to be a competent and involved citizen."

POPS14-Defining Characteristics of Fascism 3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc. 4. Supremacy of the Military - Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

POPSPrisons Taking Work From Private Sector: Current Employees Laid Off
at an Otisville, N.Y. prison are continuing their jobs: producing solar panels The insanity continues: “green jobs” are turning into “orange jumpsuit” jobs. Unfortunately, most Americans remain unaware of the Federal Prison Industries’ (FPI) exploits. FPI employs cheap prison labor " compensating inmates at wages of between 23 cents and $1.15 an hour " to assemble products purchased by federal agencies under a mandatory source arrangement. Mandatory source status means if a federal agency needs to purchase a product offered by FPI, the agency must buy it from FPI, even if the price is higher, the quality lower or the delivery longer than that of commercial products FPI has used its competitive advantage for years to expand its business into such industries as furniture, vehicular components and textiles. Just recently we learned Traverse Bay Manufacturing Inc. a family-owned textile products business in northern Michigan, also is losing business to federal prisoners

POPSChicago Welcomes You: Helping a unique immigrant community adjust to life in the US
More: The problem is that a process that was designed for, say, German Jews fleeing to America during World War II or political prisoners escaping Castro’s Cuba is now expected to work for immigrants who may never have seen a streetlight, cooked on a stove, used a toilet that isn’t a hole in the ground or handled any type of currency. Booklets and handouts provided by governmental agencies are too simplistic to be illuminating. And the Karen are more likely than previous refugee groups to be illiterate in their own myriad and distinct languages… Chicago Welcomes You, a venture to develop a kit of bilingual orientation materials…The kit includes a 94-page book, a set of 29 ring-bound activity cards and an illustrated storybook… The book and activity cards are broadly organized into chapters covering health, safety, housing and so on, and are designed for both organized and ad-hoc learning experiences with volunteers.

POPSExecutioned Police Officers Re-Opens Huckabee's Clemency Record Huckabee was expected to discuss the Clemmons case Monday night during an interview with Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly. Clemmons was among 1,033 people who were pardoned or had their sentences reduced during Huckabee's 10 1/2 years as governor, a number that far surpasses that of his three predecessors combined. Bill Clinton, Frank White and Jim Guy Tucker granted 507 clemencies in the 17 1/2 years they served. Beebe, Huckabee's Democratic successor, has issued 273 commutations and pardons since taking office in January 2007—all but one of them were pardons after the completion of the inmates' prison terms.

POPSThe man who smuggled himself into Auschwitz He describes Auschwitz as "hell on earth" and says he would lay awake at night listening to the ramblings and screams of prisoners. "It was pretty ghastly at night, you got this terrible stench," he says. He talked to Jewish prisoners but says they rarely spoke of their previous life, instead they were focused on the hell they were living and the work they were forced to do in factories outside the camp. "There were nearly three million human beings worked to death in different factories," says Mr Avey. "They knew at that rate they'd last about five months. "They very seldom talk about their civil life. They only talked about the situation, the punishments they were getting, the work they were made to do."
