POPSPapa B's Predictions for 2010 Russia and China know out that if Israel goes to war, everyone gets involved. And we .....we do have 200,000 military close to the Iranian border. With respect to politics, Papa B goes on to hope for some sort of "centrist consensus", but we all know that must be satire. Need some cheering up after ShadowStats' description of an inescapable "financial Armageddon"? Well, Papa B's predictions for the new year definitely won't fit the bill. POPSHere's what WON'T happen in 2010 Obama will stop blaming George W. Bush for his failures. Liberals will stop blaming George W. Bush for him failing to get them a date on eHarmony.com. After admitting that human behavior might not be causing global warming, Al Gore will get a real job. California will become a national model for state budgeting. The New Jersey Nets will waltz their way to an NBA championship. General Motors will become the world's most profitable carmaker. Despite Democrats' massive spending, taxes in America will fall. Huge new taxes to pay for ObamaCare will spur investors to pour billions into new businesses, igniting a wild economic boom overnight. Obama, America's first postpartisan president, will actually include Republican ideas in his agenda. The mainstream media will treat Sarah Palin fairly. and pundits will finally stop making stupid predictions.

POPSMore “Hide The Decline” From NASA GISS The pattern emerging is one of alarmists having to ‘adjust’ the data because it shows there is no man-made warming , per their own highly vaunted climate models. The same models that have produced all the dire predictions of pending doom. One thing you NEVER do in science is ‘adjust’ the data to meet your desired outcome. And one thing you also NEVER do is trust those whose careers and credibility rest on producing a desired outcome to do the verification and validation of their own theories. POPSUniversity of East Anglia (UEA) admits to throwing away climate data So they destroyed their raw data and are asking us to trust them anyway? Hmmmm... Trust, but verify...and verify just became impossible. They also lied to other scientists and told them their data didn’t include urban weather stations, but the leak proves it did. Try telling the IRS you lost your W-2 but remember the amount earned for the past year. How would that go over?

POPSAn Inconvenient Truth: "cherry-picked" Data "One of the common failings among honorable people is a failure to appreciate how thoroughly dishonorable some other people can be, and how dangerous it is to trust them." -- Thomas Sowell Protestations to the contrary notwithstanding, exchanges about "the trick of adding in the real temps to each series…to hid the decline (in temperature)," is way egregious. Professor Phil Jones, head of the Climate Research Unit and professor Michael E. Mann at Penn State are now tap dancing. Mann, in an effort to defend the indefensible, told the New York Times, "scientists often use the word ‘trick’ to refer to a good way to solve a problem ‘and not something secret.’ Yeah…right! This scandal is scientific fraud of epic proportions. Conspiracy Collusion Illegal destruction of embarrassing data Organized resistance to disclosure Manipulation of data Private acknowledgment of flaws Sick.

POPSChina's backing on Iran followed dire predictions It means nothing...just more paper and ink. I heard John Bolton this morning say that Israel will not wait much longer; it can not afford to. If Iran goes nuclear (as it intends) then that will motivate other countries in the region to do the same. Plus Iran would willingly give their nukes to such as Hamas and Hezbollah or sail one up a European or US dock. He said what we all know: That El Baradai has provided cover for Iran for the last 12 yrs. and that we can be "Thankful" that he is gone from the IAEA in just a few days.

POPSA New Type of "Scientist" "That these scientists feel the public doesn't have a right to know the basis for their climate-change predictions, even as their governments prepare staggeringly expensive legislation in response to them." This may be the collapse of global warming. Time to sell Al Gore short.

POPSReading between the lines of the Maya calendar From 1991 to 2001, about 815,000 acres of protected Petén rain forest were lost to unlawful settlers, drug traffickers and cattle ranchers. Since then, the rate of loss has accelerated, according to Edin Lopez, technical director of the government's National Council of Protected Areas in Petén. "We are not going to speak badly of cows," Chayax said. "But the ranchers have no heart."

POPSReactionary anti-women "men's rights" groups go mainstream
More: Toward the end of her piece, Joyce makes a particularly fascinating point about MRAs' domestic violence arguments: Critics like Australian sociologist Michael Flood say that men’s rights movements reflect the tactics of domestic abusers themselves, minimizing existing violence, calling it mutual, and discrediting victims. MRA groups downplay national abuse rates, just as abusers downplay their personal battery; they wage campaigns dismissing most allegations as false, as abusers claim partners are lying about being hit; and they depict the violence as mutual—part of an epidemic of wife-on-husband abuse—as individual batterers rationalize their behavior by saying that the violence was reciprocal. Additionally, MRA groups’ predictions of future violence by fed-up men wronged by the family-law system seem an obvious additional correlation, with the threat of violence seemingly intended to intimidate a community, like a fearful spouse, into compliance.
