Bang Mi? Top 10 Foodie Typos
clip-on-tie
by clip-on-tie  12-28-2009    3
Haste makes waste. It can also make very entertaining typos. It takes a keen eye (or a Jay Leno Show intern) to spot the exceptional gem on a takeout menu or expose the unintentional comedy amongst rambling food metaphors.

Popcorn balls
bignosemousie
by bignosemousie  10-27-2009
From the comments, I added one tsp. salt and 2 tsps. vanilla after the sugar mix came to a boil. Be careful because adding the vanilla will cause the sugar mixture to boil up and sputter. Also, I reduced the powdered sugar to 2 cups. It is plenty sweet. Also, keep the popcorn warm while making the sauce in a 200 degree F oven. I got 24 balls out of this and they taste FANTASTIC. Word from the comments is that the marshmallow keeps these from becoming rock hard like other popcorn balls. And, bonus, you do not need a candy thermometer. I will make again very soon. Easy and tasty.

Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day
merrie
by merrie  10-24-2009
The Boondock Saints 1999 .....It's particularly gory and bloody, but this just makes it all the more realistic. In real life, there is a significant amount of blood when someone is shot in the head. The movie has some Christian subtexts, I think I've heard about five major theories about the whole movie's meaning. This shows, in my opinion, that there was obviously a lot of thought put into the movie. I'd recommend it to anyone who can stand the gore, even if they aren't Christians. 10/10

262 versions of "House of the Rising Sun"
Torley

Click through to see 'em all in ONE LONG LIST. I wonder if that's a record for cover versions. Allegedly, "Popcorn" has 500+ but I haven't seen so many in one place, as evidenced by the actual MP3s here! Note that some may be of dubious quality/origin, but you could chain them all end-to-end and... do something good. I dig exhaustive compilations like this!

I'm not shilling for these people, but if you love popcorn you haven't lived until you've had a bowl of baby-rice popcorn. If you live in the farm belt, seek some out locally. Be sure to buy a large quantity, because once you've had it, there's no going back to Orville.

Why Doesn't Waxman Intervene To Limit Baseball--NAY ALL SPORT'S SALARIES!?
merrie
by merrie  8-21-2009    1
Obama - who knows about as much about baseball as I do about the mating habits of pterodactyls - would sign it. DONE DEAL! Then they could do all the other sports. AND THEN FASHION: AFTER ALL, CLOTHING IS A NECESSITY: SO WHY SHOULD DESIGNERS AND RETAILING EXECUTIVES MAKE A LOT OF MONEY!?! AND WHATTABOUT RESTAURANTS!? FOOD IS A NECESSITY, SO LET'S PUT A PRICE CAP ON EVERY DISH!!!!! This is the natural progress of leftist logic, so called. And it's dangerous. It's a grave and clear and present danger to our country. It must be stopped. - Posted by Reliapundit

Riyadh Shows First Movie in Decades (women not permitted)

Well that's no fun. Who are you going to throw popcorn at during the movie? And why hasn't Gloria Steinem complained that The Saudi Palace doesn't have a ladies room? And based on what Obama has recently taught us, churches and synagogues are about to open in Saudi Arabia. Since "Islam has a proud tradition of tolerance" and there are "over 1,200 mosques within our borders." Side note: Instead of doing two clips, I included a few photos of the strongest sandstorm to hit the Saudi capital Riyadh in decades (March 2009).

Pepper Plant hot sauce, BBQ sauce, and more
Lexica
by Lexica  5-23-2009    2
Serving Suggestions POPCORN - Add a teaspoon of your favorite Pepper Plant hot sauce to a 1/4 cup of butter, melt and pour over hot popcorn. SPREAD - Add Pepper Plant to mayonnaise to taste. Use this to enhance potato salad, spread on sandwiches, or use as a dip for raw vegetables and seafood. BEAN DISHES - Spice up your secret recipe or add to canned chili. Can save lima beans or string beans your kids avoid. COCKTAIL SAUCE - Mix Pepper Plant with catsup, horseradish, and a squeeze of lemon. Great for deep-fried shrimp or seafood. Super for dipping French fries. STIR FRY - Cook in equal amounts of Pepper Plant and sesame oil for a California-Pacific Rim sensation. SOUPS - Make Pepper Plant your secret ingredient in home-made soup. OK, you don't' have time, so let Campbell do the work. Spice up canned vegetable soup, tomato soup, or cream soups.
