POPSSenator Barack Obama's Qualifications for the Office of the President of the United States Let’s also not diminish another strong point of Barack Obama’s qualifications for President; he is a scholar of U. S. Constitutional law. On January 20, 2009 the person we elect will solemnly swear to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States”. With respect to the two major canidates for President, it could be said that Barack Obama’s resume shows him to be intellectually more qualified to execute that oath.

POPSCouric Hides Embarrassing Palin Tape CBS is getting a little too cozy with Republican candidates in exchange for exclusivity. This goes against journalistic ethics and just plain good common sense. There have been several other signs of favoritism by Couric and CBS towards the McCain campaign which smacks of CBS becoming a media machine for the Republican party. Palin is reported to be unable to name another Supreme Court ruling aside from Roe v Wade; and she floundered on simple American political history questions taught to middle school students. The fact that Palin somehow graduated from University of Idaho with a minor in political science makes these flounderings and blunders unacceptable as a Vice Presidential candidate. The Republican Party should hang its head in shame. I wonder how she would do on the TV show "Are you smarter than a 5th grader?"

POPSDePaul denies tenure to Israel critic Shameful. It looks very much like Finkelstein's views played a large role in his denial of tenure, since university officials cited his " tone " as justification to deny Finkelstein tenure. BTW, a committee of faculty from DePaul's political science department looked at Dershowitz's charges and found them to be without merit .

POPS7 years later: I told you so! We're no longer hearing much about third parties in Amerika. What happened to them? Why don't we hear from them anymore? It's because they can no longer legally raise enough money to get their word out. The misnamed `campaign finance reform' actually outlawed the ability of all challengers to effectively raise funds for their campaigns. A better name for this heinous law would be `the Incumbent Protection Act', since that's precisely what it really does. And it does NOTHING to stop corruption in campaign financing. Rather, it has increased it, if anything. I warned about it years ago here: http://fredericksburg.com/News/FLS/2002/022002/02152002/524933 So now that enough time has passed for everyone to see the results of this law, I can honestly say: I told you so!

POPSJoe Biden's Really, Really Big Brain He also said that he ”ended up in the top half” of his class and won a prize in an international moot court competition. In college, Mr. Biden said in the appearance, he was ”the outstanding student in the political science department” and ”graduated with three degrees from college.” Well, if we measured political IQ, Biden might barely show up on the scale. As Dionne notes later in the article, Biden got one degree from college, a double major. He didn’t get a full scholarship to law school; he got a partial scholarship and received grants to cover the rest. He didn’t graduate in the top half of his class, as he asserted to “Frank”, whose IQ score has been lost in the mists of time. In fact, Biden came in 76th in a class of 85, which isn’t even close.

POPSPatriotic, Gung-Ho Soldier Deserts U.S. Army
Who appointed the USA as judge and jury, or as no less than God? Why do we feel we have the right to "make all other nations a democracy?" What I see here is the typical of fundamental Christian influence. "We are right, and everyone else is wrong...we will change them." If you read the entirety of this article, I'm sure many of you will feel sick to your stomach. I can only hope, that somehow the world can one day see us as a place of hope and freedom, and not as what we have become by persisting in this war by these means and using such tactics of terrorism. Why, upon capturing Saddam Hussein, and finding no WMD, did we not leave the nation of Iraq? When intelligence sources indicated that Osama Bin Laden was not within the borders of Iraq, why did we persist in this attack upon this nation? No, I am not a political science major. I am not well versed in war-time strategy. I am a veteran, however. I was not in the Army during war or conflict. Now...I am a civil

POPSPoliticizing Science: The Alchemy of Policymaking (Free Ebook) In this book leading scientists share their experiences and observations of developing and testing hypotheses, offering insights on the dangers of manipulating science for political gain. It describes how politicization--whether by misapplication, overextension, or outright manipulation of the scientific record to advance particular policy agendas--imposes expenditures of money, missed opportunities, and burdens on the economy.
