POPSRepublican Rallies Now Sound like the KKK The clip from the New York Times reports someone at a Palin rally urging killing Barrack Obama, others calling Obama a 'traitor," -- Palin associating him with domestic terrorist...and an Afro-American TV reporter being hassled by the crowd. If we let these Republicans win again these are the types of people we'd be continuing to let rule and mislead our country. I urge their defeat not just in the elections next month, but the elections after that and the election after that until their party is driven into extinction. This will not only help our country but "send the message," that you shouldn't mislead and lie a nation into war, you can't commit war crimes, you can't shred the Constitution, you can't destroy our economy and give away money to the banks while people life savings are stolen. KKK America in power again? Not on my watch. Not while I still have breath. And I hope, sincerely hope, you feel the same. Vote Obama. Defeat Republicans.

POPSThe Nativists are Restless It is easy to mock white-supremacist views as pathetic and to assume that nativism in the age of Obama is on the way out. The country has, of course, made considerable progress since the days of Know-Nothings and the Klan. But racism has a nasty habit of never going away, no matter how much we may want it to, and thus the perpetual need for vigilance.

POPSChomsky - Options On The Table "There are many non-military measures to "contain" Iran, including a de-escalation of rhetoric and hysteria all around, and agreeing to negotiations in earnest for the first time — if indeed all options are on the table."

POPS Hunger Due to Injustice, Not Lack of Food Worth noting:: "In addition, the offspring of some GM plants are sterile, which means they cannot be stored to grow future crops. Poor farmers thus become dependent on transnational companies, and are forced to buy new seeds every year."

POPSConservatives Are Such Jokers "Most conservatives are more careful than Mr. Kristol. They try to preserve the appearance that they really do care about those less fortunate than themselves. But the truth is that they aren’t bothered by the fact that almost nine million children in America lack health insurance. They don’t think it’s a problem."

POPSHow To Dismantle Corporate Fascism Definition and examples: http://clipmarks.com/clipmark/DD6E3476-DCCD-48A0-9DDB-733FB51E31C8/ Measures to dismantle it: 1) Take away corporations' freedom of speech. It is a right for citizens, not artificial entities. They should not be involved in mass media and in funding television programs for their own benefit. 2) Take away corporations' ability to control government. Prohibit lobbyists from having access to Congress. Prohibit their campaign funding of political candidates.

POPSProp 8maps exposes A big ethical debate. A college professor from the University of California, San Francisco, wrote a $100 check in support of Proposition 8 in August, because he said he supported civil unions for gay couples but did not want to change the traditional definition of marriage. He has received many confrontational e-mail messages, some anonymous, since eightmaps listed his donation and employer. One signed message blasted him for supporting the measure and was copied to a dozen of his colleagues and supervisors at the university, he said. “I thought what the eightmaps creators did with the information was actually sort of neat,” the professor said, who asked that his name not be used to avoid becoming more of a target. “But people who use that site to send out intimidating or harassing messages cross the line.” Many civil liberties advocates, including those who disagree with his views on marriage, say he has a point.

POPSObama's Malignant Narcissism
When Obama runs into brick walls, he seems to reflexively go into a state of rage. The same thing will happen to Obama if and when he loses the election in 2012. Since narcissists in power keep people around them in a constant state of fear -- everybody gets targeted and feels insecure -- you can expect a ton of dirty tricks in elections to come. But then Democrats constantly use dirty tricks. I fear two things with Obama. One is if the GOP fails to elect a House majority in 2010 to keep Obama within the bounds of sanity. A GOP majority is essential for the safety of the country and the world. But even if Obama is defeated in 2012, he will just turn into an angrier version of Al Gore and Jimmy Carter. He will haunt the political future of this country as long as he is alive, because that famished ego never gets enough. Malignant narcissism often gets worse over time. So even if the voters throw out this very dangerous cult-like administration, you can expect Obama to be poppi

POPSFirst 2008 Voter Fraud Arrest: It's a Republican!
For those following the empty Republican smear campaigns against ACORN, a voter registration organization, it might come as some surprise to now hear the first actual arrest for voter registration fraud is a Republican -- working for the California Republican Party - funded by a friend of John McCain. Whew! This is what the Republican campaign has been based on -- make false charges and start smear campaigns about Democrats doing voter fraud....while you're the one actually doing voter fraud. Make false charges and start a smear campaign about Obama being a "socialist," when the reality of $Trillion dollar Wall Street Socialsim stares us all in the face (and the financial giveaway gets worse). Besides specific evidence that would make these charges stick (the criminal registered in another state different from where he lives) this is just the tip of the iceburg and why he was arrested: The policies of his group was scam and unlawful, tricking people to register Republican! &

POPSObama's First Executive Order Limits Lobbyists CNN's Ed Henry reminds us that during his campaign, President Obama promised that "no political appointees in an Obama-Biden administration will be permitted to work on regulations or contracts directly and substantially related to their prior employer for two years. And no political appointees will be able to lobby the executive branch after leaving government service during the remainder of the administration." Expect other executive orders fairly quickly. One widely anticipated one would be the repeal of the "Mexico city rule" -- a gag order that prevents foreign clinics that receive US funding from discussing abortion with patients.

POPSFiction has, once again, foreshadowed reality Certainly some of the parallels are coincidental. It is unlikely, for example, that the writers knew Mr. Obama had an affection for Bob Dylan when they made Santos a Dylan fan. But it is the unintentional similarities that make the DVDs of the sixth and seventh seasons, which at the time received mixed reviews, so rewarding to watch now. In both “The West Wing” and in real life, for example, the Phillies played in the World Series during the election campaign. :) more similarities inside...

POPS"Put America First" The question of whether or not to vote for Palin is a political question. The question of whether or not to be the type of person who would vote for Palin (or put her in line to be President) is a moral question. The latter is a question of moral character, of the type of person one is. People who would agree to put somebody as arrogant and ignorant as Palin in line to be President are not good for our country. They risk making our lives worse than those lives would otherwise be. We see the damage that the last Ignoramus in Chief has done – the desires that could have been fulfilled but which were thwarted instead because of the combination of his stupidity and his arrogance in believing that God or his gut will tell him all the right answers.

POPSBush's Child Prostitutes, 1.2M as young as 13 Bush's invasion of a country that posed no threat to the US was illegal under both US and international law, according to legal experts. Bush has been convicted of war crimes by citizen tribunals around the world, including New York, Paris, Tokyo, and Istanbul. Just las week, the towns of Brattleboro and Marlboro Vermont voted to indict and arrest Bush and Cheney. In 2002 and 2003, Bush led a propaganda campaign to defraud Congress, the American people, and key allies into believing Iraq was a threat. Bush claimed Iraq had stockpiles of chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons to use against the US, and was sharing them with Al Qaeda. Speaking near Rochester NY, Bush later admitted, "See in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda." ...AlterNet

POPSOh John, What Have Ye Done? This article was very difficult to clip effectively. It truly spells out the tragedy of John McCain's fall from grace. A man who sold his integrity and core beliefs when he smelled, up close, the strong, aroma of power. He betrayed his own family after they were slandered by the vicious Bush team in 2000 and literally wound up kissing his enemies cheeks in order to fall into the good graces of the Evangelical base. He further ensured this by snuggling up to all the Evangelical leaders who smeared and libeled him during the campaign because the taste of power was so strong. Once a man even I as a Liberal could proudly support, he is now just a shadow of a man who at one time exemplified political greatness. A tragedy, indeed. Please take the time to read the complete article.

POPSThe Myth of Clean Coal "The urgent motive for an ad campaign this time is the possibility of federal global warming legislation. A cap-and-trade scheme for carbon dioxide emissions may come to a vote in the Senate this June. Coal is also struggling to overcome fierce resistance at the state and local level; Kansas, Florida, Idaho, and California have already effectively declared a moratorium on new coal-fired power plants. Nationwide, 59 new coal-fired power plant projects died last year (of 151 proposed), mostly because local authorities refused to grant permits or because big banks withheld financing. Both groups are alarmed about the lack of practical remedies to deal with coal’s massive CO2 emissions."

POPSA Jew seeking Peace in Israel.
"Only recently have the majority of Israelis and the majority of the political parties that compose the government come to understand that we must break the link. The majority of Israelis realize that in order to maintain Israel as the state of the Jewish people, we must break the link, we must remove the settlements in the hinterlands of the West Bank, and we must come back home to the state of Israel within the Green Line border. As part of this new reality in Israel, the settlement movement is increasingly becoming perceived as a threat to the existence of the state. Those sentiments will strengthen if it appears that there is a real partner for peace in Palestine and that the peace process is genuine. Land and Peace "The problem that we will face, and we experienced this in the disengagement from Gaza, is that the split of opinions in Israel on the issue of land and peace is very similar to the religious-secular split in the society. Chances are that if you are a religious Isra

POPSToo Little, Too Late The comment by the woman who claimed that Obama was an Arab was the clinching justification that a large segment of the McCain supporters are deluded, gullible, and ignorant. It concerned me that people could be so easily manipulated into believing such fantastic claims. In some ways it reminded me of the frenzy I was told about in 1930's Germany against the already hated Jews and Gypsies. We've come too far in 50 years to allow this type of hate to enter back into American discourse.
