POPSMAJOR MULLAH GROUP CALLS ELECTION ILLEGITIMATE
at Stanford University. “Remember they are going against an election verified and sanctified by Khamenei.” The announcement came on a day when Mr. Moussavi released documents detailing a campaign of fraud by the current president’s supporters, and as a close associate of the supreme leader called Mr. Moussavi and former President Mohammad Khatami “foreign agents,” saying they should be treated as criminals. The specific charges of fraud included the printing of millions of extra ballots before the vote. Since the election, the bulk of the clerical establishment in the holy city of Qum, an important religious and political center of power, has remained largely silent, leaving many to wonder when, or if, the nation’s most senior religious leaders would jump into the controversy that has posed the most significant challenge to the country’s leadership since the Islamic Revolution. With its statement Saturday, the association of clerics " formed under the leadership of

POPSHead Scarf Emerges as Indonesia Political Symbol Golkar Party officials rejected accusations by the president’s party that they were trying to exploit Islam for politics; they also denied having anything to do with the recent distribution of leaflets that stated, falsely, that Boediono’s wife was not Muslim, but Roman Catholic. The fundamentalists are trying to force women to wear the jilbab as an act of submission, and had already done so in various municipalities across the Indonesian archipelago in recent years, Ms. Neng said. For the progressives, she said, wearing the jilbab was an expression of a woman’s right. “For women in Indonesia, whether they want to wear the jilbab or not is their choice,” said Ms. Neng, who started wearing one five years ago. “It shouldn’t be political.”

POPSChristian LEFT Mounts Aggressive Political Campagains The wut? Does the name Jeremiah Wright sound familiar? His sermons say exactly what other Leftists say, over and over again. Mr. Wright just does it with real, raw hatred, and every new slam is cheered on by his jubilant congregation. His is not a lone voice. He just sings the music to fit the words. "Emboldened by what they see as a kindred spirit in the White House, liberal Christians are stepping up their political activism in a big way."

POPSNixon's Enemies List The official purpose, as described by the White House Counsel’s Office, was to “screw” Nixon’s political enemies, by means of tax audits from the IRS, and by manipulating “grant availability, federal contracts, litigation, prosecution, etc.” Is this practice still exist in our society in one way or another? Somebody has a doubt?

POPSCan't Get Enuf Of That Grafty Stuff (Cont) What the balking Democrats seem most determined to do is to kill the public option, either by eliminating it or by carrying out a bait-and-switch, replacing a true public option with something meaningless. For the record, neither regional health cooperatives nor state-level public plans, both of which have been proposed as alternatives, would have the financial stability and bargaining power needed to bring down health care costs. Yes, some of the balking senators receive large campaign contributions from the medical-industrial complex — but who in politics doesn’t? If I had to guess, I’d say that what’s really going on is that relatively conservative Democrats still cling to the old dream of becoming kingmakers, of recreating the bipartisan center that used to run America.

POPSI Demand Respect, General, "Could you say 'senator'?" "Why do some liberals apparently despise our military?" DeVore asks in a statement on his campaign's Web site. He says the use of "ma'am" is "a perfectly acceptable sign of military respect to both a U.S. senator or a senior female officer." Republican critics in the blogosphere and elsewhere are excoriating Boxer. Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., called Boxer "a loose cannon" and an embarrassment to her party. "I just can't put up with that kind of thing when people think too much of themselves, and we see a lot of that in Washington," DeMint told Fox News Channel. Boxer is scum. California's beleaguered taxpayers would do well to throw her out on her kiester at the next available opportunity.

POPSEnsign back in D.C.; group plans ethics complaint In yet another blow against ethics, Republican Sen. John Ensign returned to the capital today to handshakes from colleagues. What does this say of his colleagues? Do they condone his behavior? Senator John Ensign called for Bill Clinton and Larry Craig to resign over sexual misconduct, and then cheated on his wife with a married staffer. This "defender of marriage" should have the dignity to resign now. But dignity is in short supply in politics. Therefore, it is business as usual in the nations capital. Does his affair mean we cannot trust him to speak for his constituents? If nothing else, it lessens his authority on ethics issues but we already know that any talk of ethics reform from politicians is nothing more than hot air. If you cannot live up to the vows you make to your spouse in front of God then how can you be trusted to live up to your promises to the people who put you in office? The 'ole boys club' ethics wins again.

POPSIranian Bus Workers Join the Resistance Iranian society is facing a deep political and economic crisis. Million-strong protests, which have manifested themselves with a silence that is replete with meaning, have become a pattern that is growing in area and dimension, a growth that demands a response from any responsible person and organization. The Autobus Workers Union in an announcement issued before the elections declared, "in the absence of the freedom for political parties, our organization is naturally deprived of a social institution that can protect it." "Workers of the Autobus Workers Union consider their social involvement and political activity to be the certain right of each member of society and furthermore believe that workers across Iran as long as they submit the platforms of presidential candidates and a practical guarantee about campaign slogans can choose to participate or not participate in elections."

POPSTwo IG Firings and One Double-Secret Probation Under Investigation
Sen. Charles Grassley, R- Iowa, sent the letter Wednesday to Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner demanding information about a "dispute over certain Treasury documents" that he said were being "withheld" from Barofsky's office on a "specious claim of attorney-client privilege." A White House spokesman declined to comment, referring questions to the Treasury Department. Treasury spokesman Andrew Williams said late Wednesday that the agency would read Grassley's letter and respond to the senator before any public comment. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-tc-nw-inspectors-0617-0618jun18,0,5718990.story We are seeing a pattern, no longer just a single data point. IGs work independently to protect taxpayers from corruption and abuse from its own government agencies. A coordinated attack on IGs certainly suggests hostility to that mission, which isn’t the Hope and Change Obama promised on the campaign trail. Yep.

POPSOutcry on Federal Same-Sex Benefits Mixed feelings on this one kids. Obama has been very reluctant to keep his promises to the LGBT community. He has kicked DADT to the back burner, and there is no indication of when he will begin the process of repealing DOMA. The natives are restless. I am still taking a wait and see attitude, and I do have fairly high hopes.......for now.

POPS Getting Punked On Health Care Reform Legislation to be outlined next week in the Senate Finance Committee will likely include a new tax on workers with the costliest employer-provided health coverage, officials said Friday, but with implementation delayed until 2013 to minimize any political fallout. Officials familiar with internal deliberations said the leading option under consideration by Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., the committee chairman, would mean higher taxes for workers whose family coverage costs $15,000 a year or more in premiums paid by employer and employee combined. The provision could generate hundreds of billions of dollars over the next decade to help pay the $1 trillion or more the Obama administration has estimated is necessary under its plan to extend health care to millions of Americans who lack it. Cuts in projected Medicare and Medicaid spending are expected to make up much of the rest.

POPSGo US Chamber of Commerce - Right On!!! "We're launching this campaign because those who make or influence economic policy must understand that a productive, competitive private sector is not something they can take for granted," "It is built on a system of incentives that offers opportunity and rewards for those who work hard and take risks. Take away those incentives through an avalanche of new rules, restrictions, mandates, and taxes and you will seriously undermine the wealth and job-creating capacity of the nation."

POPS Jewish Groups Soliciting Support To Help Obama Detonate US-Israel Alliance * to work within my communities to build the political will that will enable you to take decisive and bold steps -- and to urge Congress to support you in this endeavor * to make it known that an American President who dedicates himself to establishing a durable Israeli-Palestinian peace acts in the best interests of Israelis, Palestinians, the United States and our allies * to support you in staying the course through difficult times and to celebrate your successes. The line about fighting back against Congressmen and women who don't want to detonate the US-Israel alliance is predictable. But it's the "back your leadership" and "celebrate your successes" pledges that give it that creepy, searching-for-a-father-figure edge.

POPSPresident Obama influencing elections in Middle East Talk about a man with a plan - it seems that Obama is attempting to defeat Hezbolla and other anti-American organizations not with threats or the use of weapons but by disarming people's venom towards the U.S. through diplomacy. By holding himself out as someone who will listen and work with the Arab world, he is completely neutralizing the main rallying cry for these organizations. Should this work (and initial signs show that it may), the consequences are truly world changing.

POPSCrazy right-wing myths about Obama 2.0
Cont.... Myth: Obama plans to resettle hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in the United States. Who's spreading it: One of the original sources of the belief might have been this Feb. 7 article. New Media Journal is a news site run by a nonprofit group called BasicsProject.org, which states that its mission is to "re-introduce the American public to the basic elements of our constitutional heritage while providing non-partisan, fact-based information on relevant socio-political issues important to our country, specifically, but not limited to, the threats of aggressive Islamofascism and the American Fifth Column." The diatribe below, posted on Snopes.com, seems to have started as a post on Wizbang that picked up the claims in the New Media Journal article. It also turned up here and here. What they believe: "President Barack Obama has signed an executive order ... allowing hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to resettle in the United States. Sure, what can go wrong when w

POPSMust be a conspiracy against ACORN Among those testifying before Ricciardi was Denise Halliburton, a county Elections Division employee, who testified an ACORN canvasser approached her at a shopping mall. Halliburton said she filled out an application but deliberately didn't sign it. "I wanted to see if they would put a forgery," she said. Later, Halliburton said, she learned from a co-worker that someone submitted the application and forged her signature. She could not, however, identify the ACORN worker who approached her. Givner, who is charged with forging that signature and faces a trial on that charge, did not testify. According to court records, Givner told investigators ACORN fired her because she did not meet her assigned quota of 22 daily voter registrations.

POPSAmnesty International launches "Demand Dignity" campaign In the 2009 report "State of the World's Human Rights", Amnesty International said that human rights were being relegated to the back seat in pursuit of global economic recovery. The world's poorest people were bearing the brunt of the economic downturn and millions of people were facing insecurity and indignity. World leaders are failing to tackle human rights abuses around the globe, Amnesty International says. It says world leaders should apologise for 60 years of human rights failures since the UN adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. The group also challenges them "to re-commit themselves to deliver concrete improvements".

POPSDid Anti-Obama Campaign Contributions . . . . . . . Dictate Which Chrysler Dealers Were Shuttered? As an employee of one of the affected dealerships... First, this isn't just Chrysler's decision. They were forced into bankruptcy by President Obama. When Chrysler emerges from bankruptcy the Federal Government will be a junior partner in the new Chrysler. This is SOCIALISM! Wake up people! This isn't about business it's about politics and control. My dealership is in the top 125 out of the 3500 plus dealerships nationwide...yet we are on the list. We are not small nor are we rural. We are in a large major metropolitan area. Our new vehicle inventory alone is well over $4.0 million. Is that small? Secondly, Chrysler is already "shopping" for dealers to take over the open "points" (another name for franchise) left by the closed dealerships. Again, you think this is just business.
