Household Poisons and Foods that can Kill your Pet
murieleileen
by murieleileen  10-29-2009    1
In 2008, the Animal Poison Control Center (ASPCA) handled over 140,000 cases pertaining to pets that were exposed to toxic substances, and many included everyday household products in and around their own homes. In response ASPCA put together the top 10 list of pet poisons in 2008, and it’s important that you become familiar with this list to help prevent any mishaps at home.

The chemical treadmill breaks down, the superweeds and Monsanto did it
disenchantedcitizen
by disenchantedcitizen  10-8-2009
For years, cotton farmers have sprayed pig weed as part of their annual routine, and there has never been any major outbreak. Now that Monsanto has gotten involved with the genetically modified cotton crop, pig weed as evolved into something that can no longer be controlled. In true Monsanto fashion, they blamed the farmer! Monsanto’s cash cow combo: Roundup Ready seed and Roundup herbicide, have aided Mother Nature in coming up with a workaround. Oh but don’t worry, Monsanto’s chemical solution to this problem is just around the corner. A Monsanto rep promises that a super-pig weed killer will be on the market by, oh, 2015 or so. At that time they can start working on another chemical treatment to control the then new super weed that will become resistant to this solution. The chemical treadmill is working perfectly well, for Monsanto.

Jury says chemotherapy drug death was "manslaughter"
The Infowarrior
by The Infowarrior  10-3-2009    3
continued If you accidentally shoot your best friend in a hunting accident, you're held responsible (unless you're the U.S. Vice President, of course). If you have a swimming pool in your back yard, and a drunken neighbor drowns in your pool, you're also held responsible. But somehow, if you're a doctor or pharmacist, and you prescribe a fatal dose of toxic chemicals to a patient, you're off the hook! Doctors and pharmacists have been getting away with murder for so long that no one even remembers what it's like to hold them responsible for their actions. Let's face it: They're in the business of dealing poisons. And when you deal in poison, there needs to be a level of personal responsibility that's adhered to by working professionals. But instead of professionalism, what we're seeing in this case is the complete abandonment of any such notion. When the patient dies, they simply "lose the paperwork" to cover their tracks.

Khadafy Speaks at U.N.

The horrid translation on live TV are hard to believe. The following summary can't be any worse: 1. You folks in the General Assembly might as well be speaking at Hyde Park. 2. The veto power of five nations on the Security Council is unfair. 3. Continents and long recognized regional unions should have a permanent seat on the Security Council (like the African Union, EU, etc.) 4. General Assembly should be real power, not just Security Council. 5. No more Mickey Mouse 6. 65 wars since UN founded. 7. Nuclear power's do war/ terrorism too, killing millions. And they are pirates of resources. 8. Obama good ideas but could just be an shinning exception in the dark. 9. Cruel Colonialism of Africa ripped off $7.77 Trillion. Pay us back. 10. UN should Investigate Iraq War and many assassinations that favored imperialism. 11. Arabs didn't do the Holocaust. It was done by Europeans. 12. We're friends of Jews, but stop the aggression that poisons the worl

Western Australia was supposed to be banning soluble fertilizers for everyone. (Can't work out how they get to the plant if not soluble, but........) No nitrates. The algae in rivers had been cut when councils stopped using the soluble stuff to green up river banks. Ants are a problem everywhere. Invent safer poisons.

Some of our foods are poisons!
aklimento
by aklimento  8-11-2009    5
This subject will always be actual. It's our life, after all. Modifying old sentence, we are eating to live, not to suffer from what we eat. And drink. So, better check what you eat and especially how you feed your kids; not force them to pay for our mistakes and our inaction toward crooks, making living on our health. There are many bizarre theories in food and medical science to be revised and as soon as we start to do that as better. How many troubles can be prevented! First of all it is the notion that we can safely eat artificial food, practically plastic. We are not! We cannot be healthier neither with synthetic food, nor with chemical medicines. Even naturally occurred remedies have to be applied carefully. Chemical "revolution" of past century in relation to our life and health is over. One more remark. Please note, that not all toxins are poisons and most dangerous stuff in our food not toxins, which are produced by some microbes, but man made poisons, added there by stu

Super Rats are here
cakebelly
by cakebelly  5-18-2009    1
continues: Prof Smith of the university's applied sciences department warned that "super rats" may be thriving in communities across Britain. The Government no longer provides funding to track resistance, meaning the scale of the problem is unclear. "Natural selection means that when you have a rat population in your town, poison will kill the ones that aren't resistant, the ones that survive may have the gene, they then have babies who can receive the gene themselves," he said. "There are mutations and changes in their DNA that alter the ability of rats to deal with these poisons. It appears to be moving west and has now been located in Swindon and Bristol. It is a warning of things to come."

Those Who Spread Posion
debbyski

"As marital equality haltingly but inexorably spreads state by state for gay Americans in the years to come, Utah will hardly be in the lead to follow Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa and Vermont. But the fact that it too is taking its first steps down that road is extraordinary. It is justice, not a storm, that is gathering. Only those who have spread the poisons of bigotry and fear have any reason to be afraid."

The Bunny with 2 noses
kkcapricorn
by kkcapricorn  4-1-2009    1
"It's no April Fools joke. The baby bunny really does have two noses. A Connecticut pet shop worker found the nosey bunny in a delivery of 6-week-old dwarf rabbits that arrived at the Milford store last week. Both noses have two nostrils. The owner of the Purr-Fect Pets shop says he's never seen anything like it in 25 years in the business. He says the bunny eats, drinks and hops around like the rest of the litter. Beardsley Zoo director Gregg Dancho says the deformity could be the result of too much inbreeding or the parents' exposure to pesticides or poisons."

by Seosamh Dalzell  3-29-2009
«Now the task is to present to the world, and especially the US and Europe, a false picture, pretending that our new government is yearning for peace, acting for peace, indeed turning every stone in search of peace — while doing the exact opposite. The world will be submerged by a deluge of declarations and promises, accompanied by lots of meaningless gestures, conferences and meetings. People with good ears are already hearing Netanyahu, Liberman and Barak starting to play around with the 'Arab Peace Initiative'. They will talk about it, interpret it, accept it ostensibly while attaching conditions that empty it of all content.»

Does Religion Make You Nice?Does atheism make you mean?
wildcat
by wildcat  11-8-2008    16
It is at this point that the "We need God to be good" case falls apart. Countries worthy of consideration aren't those like North Korea and China, where religion is savagely repressed, but those in which people freely choose atheism. In his new book, Society Without God, Phil Zuckerman looks at the Danes and the Swedes—probably the most godless people on Earth. They don't go to church or pray in the privacy of their own homes; they don't believe in God or heaven or hell. But, by any reasonable standard, they're nice to one another. They have a famously expansive welfare and health care service. They have a strong commitment to social equality. And—even without belief in a God looming over them—they murder and rape one another significantly less frequently than Americans do.
