POPSHave you seen the ObamaCare bill? Mikulski blocks "Read the Bill" rule Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) used procedural tactics this week to block an amendment offered by Sen. Jim Bunning (R-KY) to require all bills to be posted on the Internet 72 hours before they are considered by the Senate. It is outrageous -- but perhaps not surprising -- that a U.S. Senator would oppose such a modest proposal for transparency. Watch the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwZz7h6tmFY&feature=channel TAKE ACTION! Contact Sen. Mikulski and tell her you're not happy she opposed the 72-hour "Read the Bill" rule. And please don't let her office tell you the amendment was not germane. The Senate adopts amendments every day that aren't germane and this one was no different. Mikulski's number is (202) 224-4654 and you can email her here. http://mikulski.senate.gov/Contact/contact.cfm

POPS'iTunes university' better than the real thing
Students who downloaded the podcast averaged a C (71 out of 100) on the test - substantially better than those who attended the lecture, who on average mustered only a D (62). But that difference vanished among students who watched the podcast but did not take notes.Students who listened to the podcast one or more times and took notes had an average score of 77, McKinney says. To find out how much students really can learn from podcast lectures alone - mimicking a missed class - McKinney's team presented 64 students with a single lecture on visual perception, from an introductory psychology course. Half of the students attended the class in person and received a printout of the slides from the lecture. The other 32 downloaded a podcast that included audio from the same lecture synchronised with video of the slides. These students also received a printed handout of the material. The researchers told the students they would be tested on the material in a week, and they also asked

POPSHate Crime Legislation: A Shocking Disregard for Federalism
This claim ignores the fact that 45 states have their own hate crime laws and that violence against others is universally unlawful and routinely prosecuted. It also disregards the fact that general police powers belong to the states, not to the federal government. Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) then makes a brief appearance (89 minute mark) to slander opponents of the legislation - how could anyone oppose legislation with such a noble goal? He claims that this is tantamount to saying that it is acceptable to harm people because you do not like who they are. Don’t expect the application of this legislation to be the rare and exceptional prosecution that Attorney General Holder promises in his testimony. Janet Cohen testified that her upbringing in a racially divided America decades ago justifies passage of this law. She also proposes that prosecutions with the new law will be “wise” on account of Holder’s “brilliance and integrity.”

POPSFascism--In The Beginning This is how it all starts. Like Germany in the 1930s when Hitler took over. Example: First, they wanted all people who had weapons to register them. This seems harmless doesn't it? Secondly, they seized all of the firearms so there would be less of a threat from the average citizen. Now we have Nazi Germany in its finest hour. Requirements now call for all people that use the nations airports to be TSA backgrounded and to have a badge. This is for each airport......There is no universal badge for all airports....FASCISTS Supposed to be for our security. It bites in the realm of losing personal liberties, one step at a time...........lakotahope

This might be his most pointed and thorough interview so far with Celente of Trends Research Institute, covering not only the Banks, economy and the coming depression (25% unemployment!) , and the Fed, but society, education, future of the government, etc.. Government fascism (joining of banks, corporations, and government) has already begun under Bush. Police State measures will increase.

POPSDrupal Training for Newbies What a great way to introduce community members to the power of content management systems like drupal. I think it would be great to bring a bunch of people together to sponsor one or two of these training sessions. Maybe I'll get around to creating an eCampaign to gather together the interested parties, lord knows that the nonprofits around here really need to get on the web2.0 bandwagon and interact and learn from their client-constituents! I'm sick of knowing more than the people in charge, but not having any way to communicate what I know, and be heard. That is all about to end- the real benefits of the internet are upon us.
