Didn’t “special purpose vehicles” help carry us into this credit crisis to begin with? (Answer: They did! And into the Enron debacle, too.) Besides, isn’t it unseemly for the executive to skulk around the intent of a duly passed law? If the law is flawed, shouldn’t the administration persuade Congress to change it?
