Tilting at windbags: Glenn Beck's fondness for Thomas Paine
Lexica
by Lexica  1-1-2010    2
More: Truth be told, Paine was the very antithesis of people like Beck, an ideologue who will stop at nothing—including distorting the truth about a Founding Father—in order to deceive, which, as Paine also wrote in “The Age of Reason,” isn’t all that difficult to do, because “the sublime and the ridiculous are often so nearly related that it is difficult to class them separately.”

Frontpage's Man of the Year: GLENN BECK
Antara

:) " Whether you love him or hate him, or consider him to be a must-see TV or DVR necessity, radio and TV talker Beck is a bright new star in the conservative firmament. You might get fired up by his calls to action or wince at his emotional outbursts – you even might tune in today only to see if this is when his head finally explodes—but you have to admit, this was the Year of the Beck."

The Oligarchy and Their Minions
katsteevns

Chauvinistic nationalism is a real problem here in the US and will not go away any time soon. The media preaches it day and night as does the administration. The recruiters preach it to the young ones who can't find jobs. There is just too much of the population willing to cut your head off rather than listen to socialist ideas, too many willing to solve problems with the butt of a gun or the heel of a boot. Too many Ramboes! So, don't dismiss civil war because, yes, it can happen here. Every freedom we lose, no matter how small, brings us one day closer to a face-off between the haves and the have-nots, between those who have property and those who don't.Every wall we build like those in Vietnam,Mexico and now Gaza shows us how to build them here on our own soil. The country was established to protect the propertied. The Bill of Rights was voted down unanimously(Massachusetts abstained). It finally was squeaked into the first ten amendments by the power of the people. So,the people wer

Nazri Walk The UnConventional Talk about BTN
FeedsBlogger
by FeedsBlogger  12-7-2009
"Malaysia is for all races so I disagree with any syllabus which only concentrates on patriotism just on one community." "If they have a problem with that, I want to know what their problem is," said Nazri adding the decision for the Cabinet to revamp BTN was done when the 1Malaysia slogan was introduced by the Prime Minister. He also said the spirit of patriotism should be instilled in all races. Nazri in not too many words also agreed that the BTN courses promoted racism. "You want me to lie? You (will) make people laugh. I mean there are people who attended the courses who came out very angry, so I want them to tell me where I went wrong in not supporting the revamping of the BTN syllabus,"

“We don’t know all the answers yet, and I would caution against jumping to conclusions until we have all the facts,” Obama said. “What we do know is that there are families, friends and an entire nation grieving right now for the valiant men and women who came under attack ... in one of the worst mass shootings ever to take place on an American military base.” Obama followed up in his weekly address Saturday, noting that U.S. troops are “Americans of every race, faith and station. “They are Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus and nonbelievers,” he said. “They are descendants of immigrants and immigrants themselves. They reflect the diversity that makes this America. But what they share is a patriotism like no other.” Even as Obama treads cautiously, Connecticut Independent Sen. Joe Lieberman, the chairman of the Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee, called the shooting “a terrorist act” and said he plans to begin an investigation into whether . . .

A Simple Observation
disenchantedcitizen

The war in Afghanistan has become an aimless absurdity. It began with a reason, to find Osama bin Laden. Or so we were told. Since then, he ‘may have’ moved into Pakistan. No one knows for certain. Is it really necessary to continue this seven year long bled letting against a bunch of religious extremists and druglords many of whom have safe haven in Pakistan, only for the occasional victory? Victories that soon are negated by retaliatory actions of many of the same people we are there to ‘bring into the 21st century’. Afghan President Hamid Karzai’s corrupt government skims the very drug trade that funds the indigenous forces NATO forces are fighting against and will therefore never lift a governmental finger to stop it.

CITIZENS FOR BETTER GOVERNMENT
kareval
by kareval  10-6-2009    1
"Nations richer and more powerful in their day than we are in this, have been sabotaged, defeated, enslaved. Babylon was the largest and richest nation of its time, but its lust for luxury made it an easy mark for the Medes and Persians who overran it, and divided its land and enslaved the people between them. Rome was a greater military power than we ever were, but when free bread and circuses became more important to the people than hard work and patriotism, Rome was invaded and looted by the tougher Vandals. The Incas were the most civilized, richest people in the Americas, but ruthless, better-armed invaders destroyed them as a nation, and looted everything they owned and had spent generations in creating. In every case it was the self indulgent weakness of the victim which made victory of the invader easy. Undoubtedly there were Babylonians, Romans, Incas who warned against overindulgence and weakness, who warned that each citizen is responsible for his nation, and that

What I really despise, is that OUR kids are being sent to Iraq and Afghanistan to learn how to become monsters, all in the name of "patriotism" and funded by us, their parents!. What will they be like when they return home? How do we live with what we've allowed to happen? And, no, it's not OK for us to do it. Two wrongs don't make a right and the ends do not justify the means.

In The Utopian Future, There's No Room For Dissent
merrie
by merrie  9-25-2009    1
It's a great brainwashing process which goes very slow and is divided into four basic stages. The first stage being "demoralization". It takes from 15 to 20 years to demoralize a nation. Why that many years? Because this is the minimum number of years required to educate one generation of students in the country of your enemy exposed to the ideology of enemy. In other words, Marxism-Leninism ideology is being pumped into the soft heads of at least 3 generation of American students without being challenged or counterbalanced by the basic values of Americanism; American patriotism. The result? The result you can see -- most of the people who graduated in the 60's, dropouts or half-baked intellectuals, are now occupying the positions of power in the government, civil service, business, mass media, and educational systems. You are stuck with them. You can't get through to them. They are contaminated. They are programmed to think and react to certain stimuli . . .
