Tea Parties: The Biggest Mistake We Could Make in 2010
billpar
by billpar  Yesterday 5:26 PM    2
We have a branding problem, at the least, and need to define ourselves outside of the DC Network. If we must have TWO political parties may I humble suggest we name the Dems and Rinos (no difference) as the "Politician Party" and the Tea Partiers, Independents, and libertarians as the "Patriot Party" and then let's rumble. The Tea Party movement in and of itself will be ineffective if it is used as a third party. However, it can be effective at driving the Republican Party more conservative, mobilizing the conservative base and holding elected officals to their more conservative promises.

DCCC: Obama 'more aggressive in fighting al Qaeda' than Bush

Does this make anyone else just gag?!! What they call 'scoring points' I call sounding the alarm. And as far as putting "country before political party" concerning national security...that's just an outright lie and to suggest that we need to "learn from this episode" is the height of idiocy. Conservatives have looooong been aware of the ongoing and dangerous advancement of radical Muslim jihadists; we learned it already! How about the DCCC stop with the rhetoric and join the fight.

The Soviet Union’s single party system was a failure due to it’s inability to withstand a dissident attack. The United States two-party system is simply the post-beta form of the Soviet-style political spectrum, with the guise of liberty upon it’s aging fangs. Holding Hands The word paradigm (paradigma), compounded from it’s Greek root word δείχνυμι “to show”, accurately describes the dimension between the left and right party. This paradigm requires a vice grip of social ideology held together for stability. A single party’s influence can break, without a backboard to cater towards any dissidence. Two parties can stand up against one another to create both geometrically and intellectually a more powerful structure that can withstand intense dissidence from each party for one reason: the rebellion of the first party’s ideals are reciprocated by the second.

As literary science fiction, 1984 is a classic novel of the social science fiction sub-genre, thus, since its publication in 1949, the terms and concepts of Big Brother, doublethink, thoughtcrime, Newspeak, et cetera, became contemporary vernacular, including the adjective Orwellian, denoting George Orwell's writings and totalitarianism as exposited in Nineteen Eighty-Four and Animal Farm (1945).

Cap-and-Trade Will Cause Dems Greater Slaughter in 2010 Midterms

Just what the country needs, a tax that will restrict the economy during an economic down turn. However, Obama seems to be on a liberal suicide mission as he knows that the Democrats are going to get creamed in the 2010 midterms, so why not inflict as much liberal/socialist damage on the US while Donkeys have an overwhelming majority. Because after 2010, Barack Hussein Obama may just be without the House and the Senate. When Sleight of Hand Is Used to Pass an Unpopular Bill by Michael Barone
merrie
by merrie  12-25-2009    1
prohibiting slavery in territories north of Arkansas and substituted popular sovereignty -- territory residents could vote slavery up or down. We cannot say with assurance that the Kansas-Nebraska Act was unpopular -- Dr. Gallup didn't start polling until 81 years later. But the results of the next election were pretty convincing. The Republican Party was suddenly created to oppose the Kansas-Nebraska Act, and the 1854-55 elections transformed the Democrats' 159-71 majority to a 108-83 Republican margin. Democrats didn't win a majority of House seats for the next 20 years. Nor did the Kansas-Nebraska Act settle the issue it addressed. Pro-slavery and anti-slavery settlers fought it out in "bleeding Kansas," and Douglas felt obliged to break with the Democratic administration and disown election-stealing by the pro-slavery side. The issue roused a former congressman named Abraham Lincoln to re-enter politics, and he beat Douglas in the popular vote (but not in the legislature)

What Obama Might Look Like If He Read Polls And Michael Barone's Column

He had already realized that his sentiments were leading him away from the Whigs and toward the new Republican party, and in 1856 he became a Republican. He quickly came to the fore in the party as a moderate opponent of slavery who could win both the abolitionists and the conservative free-staters, and at the Republican national convention of 1856 he was prominent as a possible vice presidential candidate. Two years later he was nominated by the Republican party to oppose Douglas in the Illinois senatorial race. Accepting the nomination (in a speech delivered at Springfield on June 16), Lincoln gave a ringing declaration in support of the Union: "A house divided against itself cannot stand." The campaign that followed was impressive. Lincoln challenged Douglas to a series of debates (seven were held), in which he delivered masterful addresses for the Union and for the democratic idea. He was not an abolitionist, but he regarded slavery as an injustice and an evil .....

GOP'S NEW PRAYER GURU

"Engle's role as leader of TheCall has now received some mainstream media notice but the source of his influence is still largely unknown. Lou Engle serves, alongside Sarah Palin's prayer group leader Mary Glazier, on the Apostolic Council of Prophetic Elders, one of the key leadership groups wielding influence over a sprawling, global new incarnation of the religious right known as the New Apostolic Reformation. Peter Wagner was advisor for Rick Warren's dissertation for a Doctorate of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary. In a mid-December statement from Rick Warren, Letter To Uganda's Pastors, Rick Warren lied about his connection to Wagner."

Selling Their Souls For Fun And Profit
debbyski
by debbyski  12-21-2009
Gay Republicans are like any other Republicans, particularly those mean spirited souls seeking a substitute for a relationship with a heterosexual male that find safety in the twisted kind of intimacy of the denial of personal responsibility their party preaches. They can deny it all they like and they can use their gay friends as distractions but their strain of Republicanism has never been about betraying their principals, but acting on them, such as the concentration of wealth and power in fewer hands, the nation's political polarization, and the disrespect for the system of checks and balances on which our democracy is built. Those are the GOP GOALS.

“Don’t think we’re not keeping score, brother,” Obama told DeFazio
merrie
by merrie  12-18-2009    1
Personal calls from Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and former Vice President Al Gore couldn’t persuade him to vote for the Speaker’s climate change bill. He also opposed the $787 billion stimulus, citing concerns that only 7 percent was devoted to infrastructure spending. DeFazio was one of only two Democrats to vote against those measures and the $700 billion bank bailout. (The other was Rep. Gene Taylor (D-Miss.) a Blue Dog conservative.) Yet he’s also a pro-gun Democrat who has a B rating from the National Rifle Association. “I would have less of a voice and I would have less respect if I voted for things I didn’t believe in because of pressure from the leadership,” DeFazio told The Hill in an interview. Obama himself has taken notice. “Don’t think we’re not keeping score, brother,” Obama told DeFazio during a closed-door meeting of the House Democratic Caucus, according to members afterward. But poking a stick at those in power is what DeFazio does.

The Boston Tea Party December 16, 1773
merrie
by merrie  12-16-2009    5
The British tea dumped in Boston Harbor on the night of December 16 was valued at some $18,000. Parliament, outraged by the blatant destruction of British property, enacted the Coercive Acts, also known as the Intolerable Acts, in 1774. The Coercive Acts closed Boston to merchant shipping, established formal British military rule in Massachusetts, made British officials immune to criminal prosecution in America, and required colonists to quarter British troops. The colonists subsequently called the first Continental Congress to consider a united American resistance to the British. Command and Control

“This is something the party has wanted since Franklin Roosevelt.” In this view, losses are just the price of doing something great and historic. (The strategist also noted that it’s easy for Waxman and Pelosi to say that, since they come from safely liberal districts.) “At the White House, the picture is slightly different,” he continued. “Their view is, ‘We’re all in on this, totally committed, and we don’t have to run for re-election next year. There will never be a better time to do it than now.’” But no one should be feeling at all secure about the wreckers’ current desperate floundering; they will never, ever give up on this. If they fail this time, the statist Undead will be back to try again later " York’s Democrat Socialist source does let slip a certain other home truth here: At that point " Republicans will love this " he compared congressional Democrats with robbers who have passed the point of no return in deciding to hold up a bank.

India parliament uproar over Ayodhya mosque report

"I am stunned. I was shocked to see that the report has been leaked. I want to know who has leaked the report," senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader LK Advani said in parliament. "If what is written is correct, the conclusions are false. There was no conspiracy, no planning. I was distressed by the demolition of the mosque." BJP leaders accused the Congress party-led government of "selective leaks" to distract attention from the economy and corruption - and demanded parliament see the report immediately. Home Minister P Chidambaram denied his ministry was behind the "unfortunate" leak. The angry opposition shouted: "No, it's not just unfortunate, it's shameful." Mr Chidambaram said Justice Liberhan's 900-page report was being translated into Hindi. The report is due to be put before parliament on 22 December, along with an "action taken report" by the government. The Indian Express newspaper reported the build-up to the demolition of the mosque had been meticulo

Steamed at the Democrat majority over negotiating with Joe Lieberman, the nutroots will hold their own “emergency rally” today at 1pm Eastern today to lobby for nationalized health care. Wonder if unhinged Jane Hamsher will show up to burn Sen. Lieberman’s wife in effigy. Update 11:49am Eastern: Lieberman talking to press right now. Says Demcare plan is now “heading in the right direction.” GOP Sen. Susan Collins is standing by him, smiling, through his remarks. Ok, Susan Collins speaks. She can’t see voting for the bill in its current form. “It’s still too deeply flawed for me to support it.” She says she won’t support it even with amendments intended to improve the bill (that no one has seen, of course).

What A Country We Live In

"For eight years, he ran the Bush administration on the sneak, unleashing a campaign of fear, warfare and wild spending that has caused the very viability of this American experiment to teeter on the brink of collapse. This was the man who claimed the office of the vice president was not part of the Executive Branch because he did not want to obey the law and hand his official papers over to the National Archive. Dick Cheney belongs in a prison cell, not in a conversation about the presidency of the United States. That we actually have people floating his name in the first place reveals just how dark some of the corners of our politics really are. Worse, these are the people whose ideals and ideology were the dominant force in government for most of this decade, so dismissing them out of hand is a truly dangerous error in judgment. Indeed, quite a country we live in."

The DEVIL and Mr. Obama

Many who voted for Obama out of disgust for the Bush regime are now listening to the Republicans again on their car radios as they drive around looking for a suitable place to hide their vehicles from the repo man. Don't construe this as support for the GOP. It's just the standard ping ponging of disappointment and disgust that comes after the honeymoon is over with any administration. Most Americans' party affiliations are the same as they were when Bush was elected. After all, Obama did not get elected on a landslide by any means; he got 51% of the vote. Right now his approval ratings are in the 40th percentile and would be headed for the basement of the league were it not for the residual effect of the Kool-Aid love fest a year ago. However, millions of American liberals remain faithful, and believe Obama will arise from the dead in the third year and ascend to glory. You will find them at Huffington Post. An interesting read.
