Free Concerts from l'Ancienne Belgique
Djiezes
by Djiezes  Today 5:17 AM
I just discovered the 'Ancienne Belgique' - one of the most famous concert halls in Belgium - puts some of its concerts freely & fully available online. I clipped a few bands (mostly Belgian) I know are good, but there's lots more at the site (208 for now). Have fun, I know I will!

Another report suggests it is a mutation of the "toe jam" breeding on unclean, new age soccer players. These new age soccer players regularly leave their socks outside at night and the spore from the mutated has spread and adapted to local demands.

Why save the Everglades?
deb2012
by deb2012  10-8-2008    2
McCain has been busy courting land developers who want to trample on the Everglades. Al Hoffman, a top fund raiser for McCain was the head of a group of developers who filed a legal challenge seeking to block the restoration project. At the time of the challenge, Hoffman believed that development of the Everglades was inevitable: “You can’t stop it…There’s no power on earth that can stop it!…It’s an inevitable tidal wave!“ http://wonkroom.thinkprogress.org/2008/06/05/after-standing-against-everglades-restoration-mccain-visits-park-to-bolster-environmental-credentials/

Canon supports secret garden in urban jungle to Greenwash their waste
rachaelkeriwilliams
by rachaelkeriwilliams  10-7-2008
example of public-private partnership to support a local community garden in NYC. This is a call for community participation. Canon partnered with the American Park Network to offset their carbon with the purchase of trees. The APN then donates trees to local parks and works with community groups to plant them. It would be a cool deal, but it's not much coming from canon. Not while they continue to produce highly wasteful print cartridges, and as far as I can see still haven't come out with a refillable cartridge. Canon is so so NOT GREEN!

Centuries old code survives in remote Albanian village
tommy2balmy
by tommy2balmy  10-4-2008    1
The code covers everything from inheritances and the rights of the church to the treatment of livestock. In Theth, nobody will sell land to an outsider, or even to another villager. Brides must come from outside the valley, a tradition that follows along the lines of the Kanun's rule that marriage within the same clan is forbidden. "The Kanun is the law. Just like the state law," explains Gjovalin Lokthi, 39, a gruff "kryeplak," or elected chief of the village.

Drop the Charges Against Ben Saari
deadcowkid
by deadcowkid  10-4-2008
Read full account at source. “What happened was that I was just finishing the march going past Santa Rosa City Hall and in front of the Court House, the minutemen were out—they’re right-wing racist vigilantes—and they were being protected by the Santa Rosa police department. I got a phone call that cameras and observers were needed at Juilliard Park behind the stage, so I hustled over there. When I got through the crowd to the edge of the park, what I saw was one officer with a very agitated dog amid a crowd of thousands of people. The officer was visibly panicked and shouting at people to back up. There were three other officers with expendable batons employed and they were engaged in a face-off with a group of young people, mostly teenagers. The police weren’t giving any clear or consistent commands. Police approaching from three different directions were shouting to backup. It’s confusing, it’s hard to comply with, you don’t know what’s going on. The police tactics were really conf

Plainclothes Police at the March for Our Lives in St. Paul (Theyt even had a pemit)
deadcowkid
by deadcowkid  10-4-2008
"There was nothing subtle about the undercovers. The guy on the right in the black with glasses approached my black-clad comrade and asked, "hey can I get a quick pictures". The response, "hell no." Then he asked me, "well can you please do me a favor?" To which I responded some of the same and we both pointed our fingers at him to call it out. Also to note, there was at least one person dressed in all black (hood and bandanna too) who was definitely wearing an ear piece. There was a woman not in your photos who was wearing black clothing (not bloc style but more plainclothes like, maybe sunglasses too, can't quite remember) who was walking by me, not looking directly but I could tell she had me in the peripheral vision. Camera was held down by her waist as if she were 'just carrying it', but I noticed that the lens was pointed near my face as she was nonchalantly walking. I definitely saw her click the shutter at this point. Did anyone else notice the "window washers" on the

Large dog savaged by killer squirrels
cakebelly
by cakebelly  10-4-2008
continues: Mikhail Tiyunov, a scientist in the region, said it was the first he had ever heard of such an attack. While squirrels without sources of protein might attack birds' nests, he said, the idea of them chewing a dog to death was "absurd". "If it really happened, things must be pretty bad in our forests," he added. Komosmolskaya Pravda notes that in a previous incident this autumn chipmunks terrorised cats in a part of the territory. A Lazo man who called himself only Mikhalich said there had been "no pine cones at all" in the local forests this year. "The little beasts are agitated because they have nothing to eat," he added.

Hokum alert: Despite new smear ad, which fails to mention that Obama was 8 yrs old when Ayers was illegal, that Ayers is a trusted advisor on education to the City of Chicago, and that Ayers wrote "My memoir is from start to finish a condemnation of terrorism, of the indiscriminate murder of human beings."
