POPSHumbled she ought to be Other sites of local interest have realised that Mssrs Humble is not the angel her Labour supporters make her out to be. She is in fact dangerous. The reasons? Too numerous to count, but I will give you one. 1 It is the responsibility and duty of a local MP to hold the Executive to account. Now look at her voting record. With this corrupt, inept legislative assembly probable the worst in British political history, she has never once voted against the plethora of bad law, rules and regulations pouring out of Westminster. If she is not doing her job, then what the f**k is she doing taking her £67k plus expenses plus perks plus plus plus for none representation of her electorates problems?

POPSMeet Japan's First Western Geisha "Sayuki denies she's a flawless example of Japan's ancient flower and willow world. "Being a geisha takes a lifetime to perfect," she deflects, as she clacks along in lacquer sandals that she wears slightly too small to make her size-8 feet look more petite. Sayuki, who was born in Melbourne, Australia, became the first foreign woman in the notoriously closed profession's 400-year history to formally debut as a geisha two years ago, in late 2007. "I've only just begun," she says. "To many of my geisha sisters, I'm still a walking disaster." Read it all here: http://www.marieclaire.com/world-reports/news/japans-western-geisha Long article, but interesting.

POPSSecond Graders Sing About Allah? But when it came time to perform the “Christian” part of Christmas, children were assigned to say: “I didn’t know there was a little boy at the manger. I just thought if there was a little boy, I’d like to know exactly what he (sic) say. Read more: http://www.foxnewsradio.com/2009/12/14/public-schoo-kids-singing-to-allah/#ixzz0ZvAdbahV

POPSRemember Cassette Tapes? These Are Amazing! Ghost in the Machine: "In this series I showcase a number of portraits of musicians made out of recycled cassette tape with original cassette. Also included are portraits made from old film and reels. The idea comes from a philosopher's (Ryle) description of how your spirit lives in your body. I imagine we are all, like cassettes, thoughts wrapped up in awkward packaging." : )

POPSBrian Froud: Portrait Painter Of Faery More from the site: Brian's deep involvement with folklore and myth began during his art–student days, when he came across a book by Arthur Rackham in his college library. This master illustrator evoked the wonder of childhood with fey and richly animate landscapes, re–awakening Brian's interest in fairy tales and their imagery. He began to study the folklore of Britain, and then the tales of other lands — fascinated by the ways the magical traditions in all cultures shared common roots. When he left college, he spent five years working in the field of commercial illustration in London, but he continued to paint mythic images and to develop a distinctive style of his own. In the mid–Seventies, Brian's early mythic art was published in Once Upon a Time (a survey of modern English illustration) and collected in The Land of Froud, both from David Larkin's Peacock Press.
