POPSThe UK Meteorological Office: slightly less reliable than tea leaves or cock entrails How does the Met Office know this? Because it’s on a mission, that’s why. Visit its website and you’ll quickly appreciate how this supposedly authoritative and balanced taxpayer-funded body has become the most strident activist on behalf of the global climate-fear-promotion movement. According to the Met Office’s official climate change guide, computer models are “reliable”, the “overwhelming majority of scientists agree on the fundamentals of climate change”, human activity is a major driver of climate change and the Urban Heat Island Effect is an urban myth.

POPSBush's Final Report Card: Biggest Spender Since LBJ Fair and balanced analysis from Cato Institute. Republicans need to confess this if they expect to have any credibility in criticizing Obama's liberal spending. The American people are sick of bi-partisan lying and hypocritical finger-pointing Obama's first report card, where all spending is under his watch, will not be available until next year, 2010 (which should be a doozy too). President George W. Bush’s last year was fiscal 2009. Outlays that year were $3.522 trillion, according to the CBO. However, $108 billion was spending for the 2009 economic stimulus package passed under President Obama. Bush was thus roughly responsible for $3.414 trillion of spending in 2009, which includes outlays for the financial bailouts enacted under his watch.

POPSObama's Latest Health Care Lie
..... that every American should read before listening to a word the president says, the CBO is bound in its "scoring" to take at face value what every living politician"Obama included"knows to be a stinking lie. That is, Congress' promises to make hundreds of billions of dollars worth of unspecified future spending "cuts." From the article: s the health care debate has progressed throughout the year, Congressional Democrats have become far more adept at getting the CBO to count the beans just the way they want. Indeed, they have become so skilled at getting what they want out of the CBO that the office has taken to including strongly worded warnings that the various bills' real costs may not actually match their estimates. Analysts at the CBO are not blind to this, but they must score bills as if what is written is what will happen. However, they are not prohibited from issuing strong warnings about what might happen if the legislative reality they assumed ...

POPSSOLD: Sen. Nelson Buys The 60TH Nail In The Pro-Life Coffin
elective abortion coverage, and a majority of Americans do not believe government health care plans should include abortion coverage. Currently, federal appropriations bills include language known as the Hyde Amendment that prohibits the use of federal funds to pay for elective abortions under the Medicare and Medicaid programs, while another provision, known as the Smith Amendment, prohibits federal funding of abortion under the federal employees’ health benefits plan. Under the Reid “manager’s amendment” the new health care plan that will mirror the federal employees’ plan and be managed by the Office of Personnel Management will NOT be subject to the Smith Amendment. Instead the amendment includes layers of accounting gimmicks that demand that plans participating in the Exchange or the new government-run plan that will be managed by the Office of Personnel Management must establish “allocation accounts” when elective abortion is a covered benefit (p. 41)

POPSMaking People Disappear: Our Tax Dollars at Work
"In addition to publicly listed field offices and detention sites, ICE is holding prisoners in 186 unlisted, unmarked locations, many in suburban office parks or commercial spaces." Sounds kind of totalitarian, doesn't it? Alternet has had a BOOM week in great articles. Check it out! More from the article below: Alison Parker, deputy director of Human Rights Watch, wrote a December comprehensive report on ICE transit policies, "Locked Up Far Away." ...... violates the UN's Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, to which the United States is a signatory. She explained that the government must provide "an impartial authority to review the lawfulness of custody. Part and parcel is the ability of somebody to find the person and to make their presence known to a court." The challenge of being unable to find people in detention centers, documented in the Human Rights Watch report, is worsened when one does not even know where to look.....ICE has created a network of secret jails."

POPSWhat It Takes to Make a Republican Mad
Republicans weren't mad when George Bush and Dick Cheney lied America into a war against a nation that didn't attack us and didn't have any Weapons of Mass Destruction. They weren't mad when George Bush and Dick Cheney pulled troops out of Afghanistan that was harboring the actual terrorists who did attack us. They weren't mad at George Bush taking a budget surplus of $128 billion when he came into office and turning it into a $455 billion deficit. They weren't mad, either, that George entered office with a national debt of $5.73 trillion and left with the national debt $10.7 trillion. A doubled increase of $5 trillion. They at weren't mad when George Bush and the Republican Party ignored the city of New Orleans being wiped off the map. They weren't mad when George Bush authorized warrantless wiretapping, reading private emails of American citizens and tearing down civil liberties and the Bill of Rights. The weren't mad when George Bush described the U.S. Constitutio

POPS12 National Orgs Demand Jennings Be Fired!! Co-Sign Letter to Congress
As head of the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), Mr. Jennings is on record as promoting liberal sex education and homosexual themes to children as early as Kindergarten. Now, additional information comes to light regarding Mr. Jenning’s association with GLSEN “Fistgate” Conferences, encouraging extreme sexual practices in children as young as 14. After objections were raised to that matter, Mr. Jennings announced that GLSEN presentations and presenters would be more closely monitored. But then, the following such conference included the handing out of “Fisting Kits” to children. The descriptions of the use of these kits are beyond imagination. To endorse this behavior, much less promote it, is unforgivable. Kevin Jennings must not be allowed to continue to endanger our children. The undersigned individuals and organizations ask the Senate Education Committee, its members and every individual Senator to demand Kevin Jennings’ .....

POPSAl Gore busted on World Stage "It’s unclear to me how this figure was arrived at,” Dr Maslowski said. “I would never try to estimate likelihood at anything as exact as this.” Mr Gore’s office later admitted that the 75 per cent figure was one used by Dr Maslowksi as a “ballpark figure” several years ago in a conversation with Mr Gore. The embarrassing error cast another shadow over the conference after the controversy over the hacked e-mails from the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit, which appeared to suggest that scientists had manipulated data to strengthen their argument that human activities were causing global warming."

POPSUpdate: Dead Mount Hood Climber Succumbed to Hypothermia 2:35 p.m . Eight searchers who climbed the mountain this morning just returned on skis to Timberline's Wy'East Day Lodge. The searchers, all members of the Hood River-based Crag Rats, were in two areas: Illumination Saddle and south of Crater Rock. “We didn’t see anything,” said Tom Scully. With snow dripping off his boots, Scully said weather conditions were “pretty good,” but deteriorated in the afternoon. “We had to get off there pretty fast,” Scully said. 11:45 a.m. About a half-dozen members of the Air Force Reserve’s 304th Rescue Squadron are preparing to load into a Sno-Cat " a specially-designed vehicle that can travel on snow and ice " to be carried up to higher elevations on the mountain. A Blackhawk helicopter continues to hover over the top of Mount Hood. But a deputy with the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said this does not indicate that the chopper has found anything. “It’s just what they do,” the deputy said.

POPS10 Million Could Lose Employer Coverage Under Senate Health Bill, CBO Says It comes in the middle of a heated debate in the Senate over whether and how the government should enter the market with its own insurance plan. "If you like what you have you can't keep it," the Senate Republican office said in an e-mail highlighting the CBO report and keying off the president's refrain. Though some of those who lose their coverage would be eligible for government subsidies to buy insurance, some would not, according to the CBO. For instance, a family of four making more than $88,000 would not qualify for subsidies and could face even higher premiums in the private market. http://bit.ly/5afKcA

POPSLiving in the Bible Belt What may seem unconscionable to most Americans is the rule of thumb in the Bible Belt. POPSACORN's goal: put the Democrats in charge The WH & Congress should be criminally liable for ACORN yet they continue to allow this corrupt organization to fester. How the hell can a taxpayer supported organization be so openly politically biased and continue to hold a tax exempt status? How can the so-called media be so blinded to avoid reporting on it? Because...They have bought themselves a privileged position with the Democrats and this administration. They have nothing to fear. Because the WH and Congress are just as crooked as ACORN. Obama's administration is about as transparent as a blind man strolling on a moonless night without a cane or dog. It's enough to make an honest person want to revolt, or puke, or both.
