POPSCanon supports secret garden in urban jungle to Greenwash their waste example of public-private partnership to support a local community garden in NYC. This is a call for community participation. Canon partnered with the American Park Network to offset their carbon with the purchase of trees. The APN then donates trees to local parks and works with community groups to plant them. It would be a cool deal, but it's not much coming from canon. Not while they continue to produce highly wasteful print cartridges, and as far as I can see still haven't come out with a refillable cartridge. Canon is so so NOT GREEN!

POPSEli's Manhattan:NYC Market Charges Customers 1.8% Energy Surcharge Zabar thought the surcharge would make people angry about the rising cost of energy. Instead, they're getting angry at him, forcing him to consider scrapping the surcharge altogether. At "Eli's Manhattan" customers are warned with big signs at the checkout counter. A 1.8 percent surcharge -- for rising energy and fuel costs -- will be added to their grocery bill. Shoppers at the upscale supermarket are used to paying more for groceries, but they aren't happy about the added charge. "I'm really angry about that," one person said. "I won't come back." "They're a giant rip-off," added another. "I think it's outrageous," came another reaction. "The prices here are already high, so it doesn't seem fair."

POPS It's A Party! -- Kinda' [& NO Applause for Ahmadinejad] While the United States and Israel left their ambassadorial seats empty, here is the Jew-hatred greeted by enthusiasm at today’s U.N. In its entire history, the United Nations General Assembly has never adopted a resolution dedicated to denouncing and combating the scourge of antisemitism in all its forms. Now we know why. Less than half of U.N. members are fully free democracies and among them there is no consensus that discrimination and demonization of Jews and the Jewish state is wrong. On the contrary, at the U.N. vicious antisemitism is met by a round of applause. — Anne Bayefsky is a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute and at Touro College. POPSProject Runway season 5 finale review Without trying to spoil the show's season finale, I have to say Leanne is a very strong candidate to win the last challenge. The level of craftsmanship she delivered throughout the season and the last creative effort she showed at the Bryant Park, was close to perfect. Consistency, innovation, very unique vision combined in a very wearable statement pieces - she has all the qualities we are looking for in a young up-and-coming designer.
