Recipe Roundup: Savory Cookies
Lexica
by Lexica  1-4-2009
Working in an office, the holiday season often becomes an unending cycle of sweets – cookies, candy, cakes, more cookies... These savory cookies sound like a tasty change of pace. One of the companies we do business with did something original and sent an assortment of nuts instead of a box of candy or anything like that. It was sooo nice to have that to graze on instead of yet more sugar. Pecans, mm! Macadamias, yes please!

Wendy's Secret Banana Cake – best banana cake ever
Lexica
by Lexica  12-9-2008    6
Recipe via the Wayback Machine because it got deleted from eGullet during the management kerfuffle and subsequent exodus (which is why I'm disregarding Wendy's "let's keep this our little secret here at eg" request). The original recipe specified "way over ripe verging on completely gross bananas", just so you know. ;-)

SCOTUS: No Review of Obama's Prez Eligibility
Wisco
by Wisco  12-8-2008    2
Score one for the sane. Don't expect this conspiracy theory to die here, though. Conspiracy theories never die . No amount of proof will satisfy these nuts, because conspiracy theories become like religious beliefs to people. This "Obama isn't eligible thing" will be bouncing around the wingnut blogospere for decades. Get used to it.

Praying for Wall St.
monstersmom
by monstersmom  11-1-2008    1
And hoping no one notices the total hypocrisy of the situation. "Jesus is stated to have visited the Temple in Jerusalem, Herod's Temple, at which the courtyard is described as being filled with livestock and the tables of the money changers, who changed the standard Greek and Roman money for Jewish and Tyrian money, which were the only coinage that could be used in Temple ceremonies. According to the Gospels, Jesus took offense to this (extorting profit from the exchange of monies), and so, creating a whip from some cords, drives out the livestock, scatters the coins of the money changers, and turns over their tables, and those of the people selling doves."
