POPSMusic Video Games Account for 32% of Industry Growth in '08 It seems that everyone dreams of the fame and fortune of being a rock star. Even as a young boy and adult I use to take guitar and even trumpet lessons looking to embrace those dreams of being on the road, carefree and playing to thousands of fans. As I got into video games I acted out the dreams of being a hero in games like metroid, starfox, legend of zelda just to name a few. Then all of a sudden comes guitar hero and rock band. These games have become so popular you would think that it was the beatles first trip to the United States playing on the Ed Sullivan show. Every major department store that you go into these days you will see a video game display with 3 or 4 kids playing with a virtual guitar throwing down on the many different standard rock songs that these games have to offer. Who knew that being a rock star in your own living room would become so popular.

POPSAnd the winner of the console wars is... Interesting, though the PS2 has been around a whole lot longer. I don't think the numbers were counted from the first year the PS2 shipped, but rather it's grand total... Having played a bit of both the Wii and the PS2, I think I prefer the "sit-down" console, just due to my being prone to breaking things, and coordination "issues"... (There was a reason I ran track when I was forced to pick a sport... ;))

POPSNow it's Nobody's Secret | What's Behind the Lingerie Trend What's behind the rising lingerie fashion trend? No longer a private matter, intimate apparel has become a key accessory, a status symbol of beautiful workmanship to flaunt and a subtle cue of feminine power. But more importantly, it signals a collective social obsession with self-revelation, public disclosure and exposing our most private details. Consider it the style equivalent of social networking, YouTube uploads and intimate blog postings. What was private is now widely public. What used to be a shameful indiscretion is now a boldly broadcasted message. Go ahead, reveal yourself!

POPSNintendo Spanks the Competition in Feb. It's official! I'm getting a Wii. (As soon as I get hold of one.) Also, if I'm reading this correctly, the original Playstation and Playstation 2 both surpass the new, improved PS3. Wow! I'll leave it at that though. No sense in further stating the obvious and getting everybody all excited now :)

POPSVideo Game Sales Way Up Christmas came late for the video game industry; sales of consoles and games are both way up, and should drive significant revenue in the quarter.
