ACORN has come under scrutiny lately for receiving funds from the Obama campaign. It also made news when Democrats in Congress attempted to funnel future bailout profits into the ACORN slush fund.

The model has been consistent: a media campaign that focuses intensely on white swing voters and a massive push to bring to the polls black voters who need no convincing of the historic nature of the candidacy.

Both sides claim that the other is violating the separation of church and state. Barry Lynn, a minister who is executive director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, argues that “We just can’t have sermons converted into political advertisements for candidates,” and he warns against using “church collection plate money on an ad telling people” to vote for one candidate rather than another. " Oh come on. Seperating church and state is one thing. Stopping the clergy from making political statements is a whole different and very dangerous ballgame. "Now we will lose six to eight." Polling in most Senate races over the past 14 days has shown a five-point decline for the Republican candidate, the strategist said. The piece continues: The picture in the House is similar. The generic ballot test -- a traditional measure of broad voter attitudes -- has also moved decisively in Democrats' direction in recent days. The latest NBC-Wall Street Journal and Associated Press polls showed voters favoring a generic Democratic candidate for Congress over a generic Republican by 13 points, while a recent Time magazine poll gave Democrats a 46 percent to 36 percent edge. It's looking more and more like 2006 all over again.

POPSCollege Classes Closed Due to Gas Shortage Gosh, when I was in school, we were never this lucky! (Just kidding.) So far, I've been lucky. I happened to fill up just before this latest crunch, but I have a couple of short trips coming up, and that will eat into my gas tank. It was bad enough to be paying $4 a gallon... now I have to be glad to get it!
