POPSU.S. Ranked 36th Freest Press in the World
Who Controls the U.S. Media? For the most part, the media spreads a lot of misinformation and corporate propaganda. This is not at all surprising considering that Time Warner, Disney, Murdoch's News Corporation, Bertelsmann of Germany, Viacom (formerly CBS) and General Electric's NBC are the top owners of the entire media industry, which includes everything you read and hear in newspapers, magazines, TV and radio stations, books, records, movies, videos, wire services and photo agencies. In the last 15 years alone, your sources for news have shrunk drastically. Whereas in 1983, 50 corporations ruled the U.S. news media, by 2004 this number decreased to a minuscule six corporations! As you might imagine, with just six corporations deciding what’s worthy of news and what’s not, you end up with sensationalized tragedies, celebrity features, and anything else that will capture people’s attention. There is virtually no competition in the media market today whatsoever, and this s

POPSFox News viewers "more likely ... to have misperceptions" U of Maryland study: "Those who receive most of their news from Fox News are more likely than average to have misperceptions." Love your Fox News, if you like, but challenge it with other sources if you want to have your facts right. And don't allow yourself the laziness of saying, "Oh, you can't trust studies, you know..." FN either attracts or creates mis-informed citizens.

POPSIf Fox 'News' was around to Report History
Yeah it would have been HisStory! ;-) Just like it is today! :-0 ! "Fair and balanced" if one equates reading lies off a teleprompter as 'informative and equitable' ... Who loves lies? Who cherishes lies? Who finds lies comforting & pleasing? Who is the father of lies anyway? So who do liars serve? And what about those who serve up or devour lies, thereby supporting, spreading deciets like a virus ... in the traffic of lies, does it matter if one originates the deception? If they promulgate false witness, support harm of those who have been falsely accused, is that not complicity? And how can one serve God, objectively, if they love lies, spread lies, support liars... ??? I think those who play with themselves and others are unwitting dupes who decieve themselves BEFORE they decieve anyone else. Just my opinion. And they serve evil, just like every liar before them. Personally I cannot stand lies. Or liars. MSM or otherwise. Thou shalt NOT is clear... lies, false witn

POPSThis War Report Has Been Approved By Your Government "Apparently, in the view of our corporate news editors and managers, it is important for Americans to fully witness the bloody horrors of war when that war is being fought by Russia, but we are to be carefully protected from seeing such things when they are being perpetrated by our own centurions. We aren’t even allowed to see the grievous injuries and death being suffered by our own troops. And, of course, don't feel to good about the quality of the coverage of the Russian/Georgia conflict either. This too is biased. Indeed one reason we are shown all the carnage is that the US government has been backing Georgia, and there is evidence that the US even encouraged the Georgian attacks on ethnic Russians which provoked the invasion. The US also has obligingly airlifted Georgian troops back from Iraq to Georgia. This is not news. This is propaganda, pure and simple. "

POPSForget Terrorism The underlying message of the news, the implication hammered deeper home with every replay of the towers collapsing, was that whatever we little people did, world history, and therefore real life, was out of our hands. The trivial little games activists and communities had been playing were irrelevant; no one would pay attention any longer, let alone join in. This was not necessarily true, of course. But it was news because it was on the news, and because it was news it made itself true
