POPSA New Strain of Flu Many Times More Lethal Than H1N1? It is typically behaving like a hemorrhagic fever in the lungs turning them into ‘mush’ and killing the patient. Some reports from the Ukraine are indicating that figures may will be over 1000 deaths, but the numbers are not being released by the government until confirmations are made. Moreover, the virus could have the potential to recombine with those being vaccinated to create a plague that could potentially kill more than 1 million people globally per month. I don't know what to think. .

POPSLeapFish - The Web’s New Search Engine The Web has evolved. It used to be a place where people came to just search for simple information. Now it’s a place where people come to also share information. Information today that is multi-media and more complex. Information today that is real-time and social – recommended by people who know, and people you know.

POPSClipmarks - Supergranular Version More reviews of clipmarks: One from Yahoo Finance (via Business Wire) and one from Webware. I loved Rafe Needleman's review at Webware and the "supergranular version" naming. :-)

POPSHow to Install Extensions in Google Chrome Interesting but i'll pass on this one. ____________________________________ For valid extensions, the Installed extensions section in the Extensions manager, displays the confirming information. Uninstalling or disabling the extensions is also just a matter of a single click from the extensions page. But all this brouhaha for just three sample extensions! It could be a big letdown, if not for third party developers working behind the scenes on extensions of their own. I can straightaway suggest to you two sites that could empower your browser by a bit… Chromeextensions Chromeplugins These sites are not associated to Google but are merely a place for independent developers. But they are the groundbreakers in every sense of the word as Chrome tries to become the internet’s Swiss army knife like Firefox. The salvo has been fired by Google. With time it could be a toss-up between browsers. We just have to pick the browser we want.

POPSStopTheWitchHunt.org Target Conservative Commentators' "Hate-Speech"
The website is designed to give voice to the millions of Americans who believe it is time for talk-show hosts and elected officials to stop stoking the racial anxieties of the fringes of America. Beck and his fellow band of hooligans have been telling scary stories about President Obama whom Limbaugh has disrespectfully referred to as "the little black man child." Beck recently accused the biracial President of having "a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture." And he has attacked a number of key Administration officials accusing them of being socialist and anti-American. Limbaugh, who has a history of making racially charged remarks about Obama, has called the mixed-race president "a halfrican American." Days before the President's inauguration in January, Limbaugh said, "I hope he fails" - the verbal equivalent of putting a razor blade in a candy apple. StoptheWitchHunt.org is just the beginning of a multi-media campaign to support a new resistance to these .

POPSPhiladelphia ACORN Video **UPDATE 2:24 PM EST FROM BIGGOVERNMENT.COM** We muted the audio of the ACORN employees on the video released today due to ACORN’s legal attack upon us. We call upon ACORN to state publicly now that it has no objection to the public release of any its employees oral statements to us. If they are interested in the truth, why wouldn’t they do so?

POPSACORN Video: Prostitution Scandal in Philadelphia, PA Part I
posing as a prostitute and her boyfriend, soliciting advice about a possible housing loan from workers in the Philadelphia office of ACORN Housing Corp. Previous videos showed the same pair, also posing as a prostitute and her boyfriend, visiting ACORN offices in other cities. The Philadelphia visit is significant because of a dispute over statements ACORN has made defending what took place when Giles and O'Keefe visited the Philadelphia office last summer. Supporters of O'Keefe and Giles said ACORN has lied about whether the two were thrown out of the Philadelphia office, how much time they spent there and whether they explicitly told ACORN workers that Giles was a prostitute. At a news conference, O'Keefe went through an edited version of what he said was a 32-minute visit to the Philadelphia office. "At no point were we kicked out, at no time were we asked to leave," O'Keefe said after playing the video. http://biggovernment.com/

POPS Afghanistan Syndrome Asad and Tahir would be the first ones to die. As the months dragged on, I grew to detest our captors. I saw the Haqqanis as a criminal gang masquerading as a pious religious movement. They described themselves as the true followers of Islam but displayed an astounding capacity for dishonesty and greed. Whole thing. I hope Obama, Emanuel, Axelrod, Biden, Reid, Levin, Pelosi, etal, are paying attention. You know, between Filkins and Rohde, I’m starting to warm up to the Times a little. At least until the next al-Qaeda early warning system alert goes up. What’s going on … when even the AP’s Kabul bureau seems to be starting to get it? * Though maybe not as far from Stockholm, New York, your town as some people would like to think. Yes, we’re still having this conversation in 2009.

POPSObama controls your TV "...this EIF initiative fits into a broader White House plan, including the push to politicize the NEA, to redefine “art” as “service” and engage an all too compliant news, entertainment, and artistic community to start a volunteer army through these online portals."

POPSAt 10% Unemployment America Still Doesn't Have Enough Workers But of course, it's really not much a paradox at all. After years and years of a housing bubble, we have millions of Americans trained in some capacity relating to housing, and those skills are no longer needed. Concepts like this should shred anyone's notion of an output gap. Sure, American hands are underutilized, but if those hands don't have anything to do that's productive, can they really be considered unused "capacity." No, they can't. And this is the problem with big, macro-thinking. You can point to two GDP trendlines and say "Look, undercapacity..." but that totally ignores the ground level where real employees have to find jobs that they're suited for, and no amount of expansionary practice can change that problem.

POPSOttawa's Refusl to Take Gitmo Inmates Irks U.S. Come on Canada! Toronto-born Omar Khadr, accused by the Pentagon of throwing a grenade that killed a U.S. soldier in Afghanistan in 2002, is the only Western detainee left in Guantanamo. He appeared at a hearing here Wednesday alongside two new Washington attorneys. "Let's be clear-Obama did not create this mess, he inherited it. He is trying to close the prison...…"

POPSTwitter Talks Data With Microsoft, Google — All Things Digital All this without tarnishing the noisy service as a shill, because it lets you listen to only what you want. The deals would be nonexclusive and may not happen, All Things Digital reports " which only feeds the casual cred Twitter has been cultivating, taking its time about coming up with a business model that produces operating revenue, while it rakes in VC money at a level that values the three-year-old private company at about $1 billion. The “Let them do it” philosophy works like a charm for Twitter, whose content comes from the general public and whose best interfaces come from third-party developers making full use of the company’s freely available API. Along with the recently announced “lists” initiative, Twitter seems to be carefully setting the table so that partners can leverage its data " and the way it is organized " to enter new markets, while it sits back and maintains a server farm.

POPSAnger in France and Poland after Polanski arrest At least Reuters puts the blame on the "political elite". A U.S. arrest warrant has existed since 1978 for Mr. Polanski. It's no secret that he's wanted. He travels to Switzerland, which has an extradition treaty with the U.S. and gets arrested. The elites have a major panty wad. I guess that whole "rule of law" thing doesn't apply when an artist is involved. He played the system for 31 years and got a bit too arrogant for even the Europeans.

POPSEuropa's Ocean Has Oxygen, May Support Life Now one has to figure where it comes from on Europa? We know where our oxygen sprang from--minuscule ocean critters (scientific name), and plant life. This planet didn't start off with an oxygen atmosphere....some conclude a chemical reaction took place to release it from the primal waters...can't remember exactly.
