POPSWill GOP Call to Repeal Health Care Bill? by

Repealing the health care bill, however, would take more than winning back a few congressional seats. Just as the Republican minority in the Senate has stalled the current health care debate, a Democratic minority could do the same to any repeal measure unless Republicans were able to pull together at least a 60-vote majority. The GOP would also have to overcome the strong majority Democrats now have in the House. Even if they were to win both chambers back, President Obama could veto any repeal measure at least through 2012. "Anyone who thinks they'll be able to repeal ObamaCare is kidding themselves," Michael Cannon, director of health policy studies at the libertarian Cato Institute, told the Washington Independent. "If they want to stop it, they need to stop it now."

POPSExclusive: Andrew Breitbart Announces Launch of New “Big” Sites
In an exclusive interview with Mediaite, Breitbart shares his vision for his expanding network of “Big” right-of-center sites: Though he’s not exactly a household name, Breitbart has long been a power player in the sphere of Internet influence and opinion. While he may be best known for serving as an editor for The Drudge Report, he also served as an early researcher and developer for The Huffington Post. Since setting out on his own, he’s created a number of sites: Breitbart.com is the core site, aggregating countless headlines from dozens of sites and newswires in real time; BreitbartTV performs a similar function with videos; and Big Hollywood and Big Government are conservative group blogs which cover entertainment and government policy, respectively. In a phone interview with Mediaite, Breitbart says that his new sites will continue to “fight the mainstream media " New York Times, Washington Post, LA Times, CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, and CNN "

POPSU.S. Ranked 36th Freest Press in the World
Who Controls the U.S. Media? For the most part, the media spreads a lot of misinformation and corporate propaganda. This is not at all surprising considering that Time Warner, Disney, Murdoch's News Corporation, Bertelsmann of Germany, Viacom (formerly CBS) and General Electric's NBC are the top owners of the entire media industry, which includes everything you read and hear in newspapers, magazines, TV and radio stations, books, records, movies, videos, wire services and photo agencies. In the last 15 years alone, your sources for news have shrunk drastically. Whereas in 1983, 50 corporations ruled the U.S. news media, by 2004 this number decreased to a minuscule six corporations! As you might imagine, with just six corporations deciding what’s worthy of news and what’s not, you end up with sensationalized tragedies, celebrity features, and anything else that will capture people’s attention. There is virtually no competition in the media market today whatsoever, and this s

POPSONE NEAT PACKAGE NBC has been in the ratings toilet for several years, trailing CBS, ABC and Fox in primetime ratings, and Universal Studios had just one summer box office hit this year: "Inglourious Basterds," and attendance at the company's theme parks has been slipping.

POPSUnion Calls NBC Grinch....Threatens Strike During Tree Lighting
The union is accusing NBC of growing "increasingly hostile, ignoring the concerns of the union's membership," and it has created a Web site, NBCStoleChristmas.com, to promote its cause. "We can't let the Grinch at NBC steal another Christmas from thousands of honest working people," NABET-CWA Local 11 President Ed McEwan said in a news release. "This charade must stop. Christmas is supposed to be a time of goodwill, but the network's management is trying to hide behind their fancy lights while leaving their employees in the dark." The union says it represents nearly 3,000 of NBC's producers, writers and technicians. NBC Universal fired back at the union in a statement saying the union canceled three days scheduled for negotiations, Nov. 18, 19 and 20, and has not offered alternative dates. "Progress can only be made in labor negotiations when the parties are negotiating," the statement read. "It is unfortunate that the union is resorting to threats as opposed to meeting its

POPSArmed Services Committee Members Haven't Read General McChrystal's Report “I have not read it,” said Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, who is wary of funding another troop increase. Brown would not commit to reading the report before making a decision on supplemental war funding and said he has talked to McChrystal in person. “I’m not going to commit to reading one thing or another.” Leadership aides point out that most of the document had already been leaked to the Washington Post, which posted a redacted version on the Internet. But the classified report includes six additional pages, plus material that was redacted from the leaked version, including the 500,000 troop figure initially reported by NBC’s Andrea Mitchell. “I can’t remember whether I read the classified or the declassified report. I can’t remember,” said Ike Skelton, D-Mo., Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, when I asked him about it last month.

POPSWhy the Comcast-NBC Merger Must Be Stopped Perhaps the most dangerous risk of this deal -- and one we have seen many times in years -past - is that it will trigger a "merger wave" throughout the industry as distribution companies and content companies seek to "muscle up" to match the new threat that the vertically integrated Comcast poses. Consumer choice will be restricted and prices will rise. With diminishing competition, the likelihood of similar behavior by other companies grows stronger, as does the threat of collusion among competitors. - more @ clip source

POPS PETA's ad is Banned by NBC In response to Socratoad's clip I present you with this ad sent to me by PETA as an Xgiving Day reminder of how these birds are treated before they get to your table. On a brighter note I used to live on a Kosher veal farm. Very small. Very different. The owner's brother ran a Kosher turkey ranch, Same premise. Kindness in treatment before slaughter. It can be done intelligently and painlessly, with care and consideration for the beasts.

POPSWill Tone of MSNBC Change w/Comcast Merger? I have a pretty basic Comcast package and ever since I heard people complaining that they removed the MEssNBC, I found it up on stn.#128, away from the more "regular" channels, so I'd advise one to scan their sets, you may still have it. (I can't believe I'm helping anyone find the thing;-) Anyway, I think it would be too obvious for Comcast to make it any more scarce. Maybe it's just as well to keep those nutjobs (Olbermann, Matthews, Maddow, etc.) all in one place where they think they've really got something goin' on. Otherwise who knows what kind of hell they'd raise with their whining.

POPSCBS and NBC Skip Hasan's Ominous 'We Love Death More Than You Love Life'
Brian Ross reported: The Washington Post reported today that Hasan presented this PowerPoint presentation at Walter Reed hospital in 2007, saying: “It's getting harder and harder for Muslims in the service to morally justify being in a military that seems constantly engaged against fellow Muslims.” Under comments, he wrote: “We love death more than you love life.” And his conclusion was that Muslim soldiers be given the option of being released from the military, as conscientious objectors, to decrease what he called “adverse events.” Bob Orr, on the CBS Evening News: There were reasons to worry. Hasan received poor performance reviews at Walter Reed, frequently criticized the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and in June, 2007, Hasan gave a shocking presentation to colleagues. Using slides, Hasan argued forcing Muslim soldiers to fight wars in Muslim countries puts them “at risk to hurting/killing believers unjustly” and he ominously warned of “adverse events." .....

POPSTalk About Playing The Victim Card Ms. Prejean: If you made a sex tape when you were 17 years old, the first mistake you made was sending it to your boyfriend. Things like these have a way of coming back to haunt you; boyfriends come and go sweetie, but video tends to be there forever. Please quit playing the victim of your God -spoke-to-me crusade against gays. It looks bad when you pretend to put your chastity belt on to the world and do something entirely different in private.

POPSMSNBC: Gun-Toting Protesters are 'White' Racists... Black Guy with AR-15 Edited to Conceal his Race. Bill Wilson, president of Americans for Limited Government, is now calling on the network to fire those responsible for producing the broadcast, in what he describes as a "nefarious assault on decency." "On behalf of the nearly half million members of Americans for Limited Government — and tens of millions of other equally appalled Americans of all races nationwide — I hereby demand the immediate termination of Contessa Brewer, Toure, Dylan Ratigan and any and all others involved in any way with the fraudulent news that ran in the 10:45AM segment of your August 18 broadcast."
