POPSRetired Nave SEAL questions Nation's Priorites I don't believe the "Nation" questions this. I think that the anti-American Left and the anti-war, anti-Bush proponents have made this an issue. Who will fight or stand for American interests when they risk criminal prosecution? This doesn't even rise to the level of Abu Ghraib ...which in my opinion was not news-worthy, just dumb.

POPSBlackwater’s Erik Prince to step down, reveals CIA role Later, news reports emerged alleging that Blackwater, which recently renamed itself Xe Services, was involved in the program which sought to assassinate high-value terrorist targets. Prince "confesses to feeling betrayed," Vanity Fair reports. Prince told Ciralsky that he was engaged in work for the CIA "up until two months ago—when Prince says the Obama administration pulled the plug." That would seem to confirm recent news reports that the Obama administration was using Blackwater for assassinations in Pakistan. Prince also told Ciralsky he plans to step down as chairman and CEO of Blackwater -- a move Ciralsky reports has started a "power struggle" within the company over who will succeed its founder. “I’m through,” Prince told Vanity Fair. “I’m going to teach high school. ... History and economics. I may even coach wrestling. Hey, Indiana Jones taught school, too.”

POPS Free The Fallujah One! This is frightful. The man wanted for murdering four Americans, torching and dangling their charred bodies from a bridge while a mob danced gleefully around for the cameras may have been criminally roughed up while being deprived of his liberty, to the point of suffering a grievously emfattened lip! The real question is not whether these swabs will be dragged before courts martial while U.S. counter-terrorism operations are disrupted. That goes without saying. The question is whether Mr. Abed will be allowed to pursue justice in an American court. Not just to repudiate any criminal charges he may face, but to seek redress in a civil action for the fat lip he has endured. It’s been well-established after all in KSM, Holder etal vs. Common Sense, that people who conspire overseas to kill Americans are fully entitled to U.S. constitutional rights, to include full media circus access and OJ defense protocols as established under the Ito precedent.

POPSObama's Hideous Birthday Cake Well, really... one would expect such tastelessness from a negro. But then Obama can't even claim that distinction - - in actuallity he is a descendent of Arab slave traders. But what really pisses me off is placing my magnificent US Navy Seal on his hideous cake

POPSCombat Operations in Fallujah by Dahr Jamail As the calendar turned to May, April was the deadliest month since September for US troops, with at least 18 dead, doubling the previous month's total. April also found the most troops killed in combat in a month so far this year. April was also the deadliest month for Iraqis in over a year.

POPSAccused Somali pirate faces life in prison The Americans responsible for this should crawl into a cess pit and rot. This teenager is the prize of the might of American power. Ignore the fact that mining companies stuffed his land; or that foreign fishermen fished out his share of the ocean. How brave and hypocritical thou art, America. Ask why these people hate those who have no respect for them as people, exploit them and then shoot or jail those who complain.

POPSUPDATE: Captain Phillips "I'm Not The Hero, The Military's The Hero" Video http://cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/up/player/popup/?rn=3906861&cl=13016214&ch=4226713&src=news video (2:04) There were no plans for an organized welcome home bash in the rural town at the base of Mount Mansfield. Local officials said they were wanted to check with Phillips and his family before arranging anything. Still, spontaneous excitement was the order of the afternoon once Phillips, 53, returned from his ordeal in the Indian Ocean. "It's really exciting that he's coming home," said 10-year-old Nate King.

POPS Don't Mess With U.S. OK, time for Executive Grow-A-Set Order No 1. You can call it the Obama Doctrine. Anyone engaging in acts of piracy or terrorism on Americans anywhere in the world or in areas where American forces are lawfully operating can have his coconut drilled at any time, based on the discretion of the commander on scene. No further discussion. You holding your breath? I’m not. Yes, Obama allowed U.S. forces to do their job. It would have been shameful if he didn’t. But it involved no strategizing or anything beyond a yes or no by Obama, and frankly didn’t require that. It means nothing more than a happy day for America and the Phillips family, plus some wailing in a couple of Somali villages. Unless Obama has a plan, and the will to execute it. On that front, to steal a phrase, he has not yet begun to fight.

POPS American Hero ~ Captain Richard Phillips Snipers on the fantail of the destroyer USS Bainbridge, which was towing the lifeboat with a 100-foot line, opened fire when they "observed the pirates with their heads and shoulders exposed," Gortney said. The captain, widely hailed for giving himself up as a hostage to save his crew and for his valiant escape attempt Friday, was unhurt and safely aboard the USS Boxer. He (Captain Phillips) told his boss, John Reinhart, head of the Maersk Line shipping company, that he wasn't comfortable with the hero label. "'The heroes are the Navy, the Seals, and those that have brought me home.' That was his quote," Reinhart said.

POPS American Hero, Marcus Luttrell's Yellow Labrador Killed By Punk Cowards He is still recovering from his injuries. He had just gotten out of surgery. He’s standing there with a gun between the guy’s eyes. He doesn’t fire. All four and he’s just saying, “You killed my dog.” They executed his dog. “You killed my dog. Why would you do that?” They run. They get into his car. Marcus gets into his truck, chases them over four counties, finally runs them into a ditch. He calls the Rangers. The Texas Rangers arrive and these guys, when the Texas Rangers are taking these guys away, Marcus has held them there by a gun. As the Rangers are taking these guys away, they’re threatening Marcus’ life and saying, “When we get out, we’re coming for you next. First it was your dog. It’s going to be you next. You don’t know who you’re messin’ with.” That’s when Marcus kind of snapped just a little bit and said to the Ranger, “Excuse me, ranger, do you know who I am?” He said, “Yes, sir, Mr. Luttrell, I do.”

POPSUSAF Staff Sergeant Zachary Rhyner - Someone You Should Know Combat controllers train for two years at Pope and elsewhere to do mostly covert missions in hostile territory. The “battlefield airmen” can parachute or infiltrate into enemy territory to set up drop zones, do air-traffic control or call in aircraft to shoot or drop bombs on the enemy. They often work on an Army Special Forces or Navy SEAL team and fight alongside soldiers and sailors while summoning Air Force firepower from overhead. The aircraft often are firing near “friendly” forces on the ground. Rhyner is credited with saving his team from being overrun twice in a 6-hour battle in the Shok Valley. Members of A-Team 3336 from Fort Bragg’s 3rd Special Forces Group received 10 Silver Stars, the Army’s third highest award for combat valor, for their actions in that engagement....

POPSMarcus Luttrell, Author Of Best-Seller "Lone Survivor" Tons of you are reading “Lone Survivor,” the NYTimes best-seller I’ve spotlighted here and here. Now, there’s this incredible news from Hollywood gossip columnist Nikki Finke. Tinseltown wants to make a movie out of the book: I hear there’s a frenzied Hollywood bidding war going on today over the No. 1 book on The New York Times non-fiction bestseller list: Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes Of SEAL Team 10 by Marcus Luttrell. Studio toppers are interrupting their vacations to try to get this book which was sold to Little Brown by superagent Ed Victor for a seven figure advance. How interesting that liberal Hollywood is hot for this patriotic tell-all by a proud conservative.
