Why is the "cure" nearly always worse than the cause?
gemfemfox
by gemfemfox  9-8-2009    28
I become more concerned with modern medicine in the form of pharmaceuticals daily. They are making rash, profit motivated, decisions and the government falls in line as the tax revenue and lobby gifts/graft is running free. Get healthy, get some sun, eat fresh, local produce and quit feeding the mega-national beasts.

Did Neanderthals have sex with modern man?
aklimento
by aklimento  11-10-2009
They were eaten, pure and simple. The mark from butcher hook was discovered recently on the inner surface of one of their jaw. We're still eating each other, although not literally now. At least some of us sometimes... And how often cruelly and savagely... :( Oh, yes, almost forgot... About sex... Why not, after all? ;) This call of Nature is eternal...

Every single Democrat in the current majority, including Barack Obama, swore an oath to "preserve, protect and defend" the Constitution. Yet, they absolutely ignore the limitation of power set forth in Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution. None of the 17 powers enumerated there authorizes the current health-care bills or the cap-and-trade bill, or the bailout, or the stimulus package – all recently passed by the House of Representatives. When asked by a reporter to identify the constitutional authority for the current health-care bills, Sen. Patrick Leahy said: "We have plenty of authority, why would you say we don't have authority?" Speaker Nancy Pelosi's reply to the same question was: "Are you serious? Are you serious?" Obviously, neither one is "preserving, protecting or defending" the Constitution when they ignore its limitation of congressional power.

Hot Rod is very much an art form. It has to do with restoration of old vehicles, so it’s easy to see why the artists are usually male. And where there’s a male hub, there are always sexy ladies.

Alinsky studied criminology as a graduate student at the University of Chicago, during which time he became friendly with Al Capone and his mobsters. Ryan Lizza, senior editor of The New Republic, offers a glimpse into Alinsky’s personality: “Charming and self-absorbed, Alinsky would entertain friends with stories -- some true, many embellished -- from his mob days for decades afterward. He was profane, outspoken, and narcissistic, always the center of attention

D'Souza's Normal BS
AtlLiberal
by AtlLiberal  11-5-2009    3
Dinesh D'Souza, widely known for his hopelessly weak proslytizing on the World Net Daily site is seen in this clip interacting with that expert on science and medicine, Greta Van Susteren! They fit well together. Another good reason to avoid the Fox Noise Channel. The interesting thing is that the more we hear from D'Souza the more bizarre he becomes. He does appeal to the Ultra Right though.

who, according to British media, are not present in this war torn country. Not controlling the high ground is a certain recipe for disaster. In a modern age where logistics are so essential it is amazing that a semi literate almost primitive foe can have access to modern telephone technology but the Nato troops are ham-strung with their heavy and useless radio networks and equipment. All Nato troops now carry weapons that share 55.6 ammunition in a country where the average contact starts at massive distances. This means that you are dependent on support weapons which are totally alien to the mobility of troops trained for speed and action. The Italians, masters at Alpine terrains and warfare would never acquiesce to allowing their soldiers to be more than shooting ducks in a theatre they practice in their own back yard, or would they? Read this piece for yourself and then speak with you MP. Or better still continue accepting the lies fostered by this illegal and immoral governme

Bye Bye Birdie: Famed Fossil Loses Avian Perch
merrie
by merrie  10-23-2009    1
just one of several species of feathered dinosaurs preceding modern birds. It may not even be a direct ancestor. Such revisions make paleontology a science of second thoughts. Reconstructing the history of life, researchers thrash out theories of ancestry, behavior and biomechanics guided by hints from ancient bones. Archaeopteryx -- combining the feathers, wishbone and wings of a bird with the reptilian tail, teeth and claws of a dinosaur -- had already become a question mark. Newly discovered fossils have prompted scientists to revamp their assumptions about archaeopteryx's distinguishing features over the last decade. A cornucopia of fossil finds in China demonstrated that feathers coated many dinosaur species, not just birds. The newest finding, though, demonstrates that our understanding of even well-studied fossils like archaeopteryx -- scrutinized, measured, modeled for 150 years -- can still be upended.

Blessing/Curse of First People's Genetic Adaptation
nedhamson1
by nedhamson1  10-11-2009
People who live in harsh environments for more than 500 years, adapt genetically and culturally to that climate. Modern ways and diets are attractive but produce disease because of disconnect between how their bodies were adapted to a non-modern lifestyle. The epidemic of diabetes among first nation children and young adults has been accelerating as traditional ways of living fade. This is not limited ot First Americans but this article illustrates the problem well and how difficult it is to deal with.
