Smoking Like a Barbecue: WH Homeland Liason

by merrie  1-4-2010
Brennan Asserts that the Homeland defense Worked "every other day," in 2009, Just Not on a Major Holiday Over Detroit. http://bit.ly/8xEHKg Abdul mutallab was smoking like a barbecue. Will this performance stand? Nah. The Homeland hearings are starting in January. Brennan will get scorched like Abdul mutallab. It is an election year. They are offering him as the barbecued goat. Enough? Nah. Pass the sauce. (And Brennan's swerve to run Dick Cheney into the ditch is a self-destructive ploy. The clock is running down on Brennan's public role. The resume must already be at Xe.)

She says : If you do turn out to be my match, all I will need is some of the stem cells of your blood to be transferred to my body. This still doesn't require surgery, only a little bit of your blood. These past few months of hardship have caused me to reach the end of my rope. I am unsure how much longer I have to live. But what I do know is that the one thing that can save my life is a matching donor. And with someone like you, I am unwilling to lose hope! I desperately need your help and kind support in finding my match.

Black SAS war hero who held off 250 rebels single-handed
foxyarse
by foxyarse  10-22-2009    1
With no cover and facing certain death, he sprinted across 800 metres of exposed ground to reach a 25-pound field-gun. It was a brave - but apparently futile manouevre - as the huge weapon took three men to operate. That, however, did not deter Labalaba. Nor did facial injuries which would have rendered a lesser man helpless. As British forces watched in astonishment, Labalaba turned the cumbersome gun on the enemy and opened fire at near point blank range. He went on for six hours, decimating the rebels and ultimately paying for his courage with his life. His comrades found him slumped face down by the massive gun. His selfless actions undoubtedly saved many of the British soldiers holed up inside the fort and won him a posthumous Mention in Despatches. For many, his statue will be a long-overdue memorial to one of the SAS's greatest heroes. It is also some small recompense to thousands of ethnic minority servicemen, many from Commonwealth countries, who feel their

The Blackening of the president
ratilfar
by ratilfar  9-14-2009    3
Obama's white support trended slowly downward throughout the summer in the weekly Gallup poll, but took another relatively large (4 point) drop between July 19 and July 26, a fiery week that saw the arrest of Skip Gates, Obama's comment that Cambridge police acted "stupidly" in that incident, followed by Obama's "recalibration" of those words. I said at the time that Obama's commenting on the Gates mess was a mistake, even if it was a completely understandable one. Replying reflexively, as a victim of racial profiling, Obama was sincere -- but in that moment, there's no denying, he got blacker to a segment of the white population. That same crazy week also featured the rise of Birtherism as represented by a screaming woman interrupting moderate GOP Rep. Mike Castle's town hall claiming Obama wasn't born in the U.S. It was a harbinger: August brought a wave of frenzied anti-Obama organizing at raucous meetings -- what a Republican fundraising group proudly labeled "town hells" -- whe

9.11 Remembered
merrie
by merrie  9-11-2009    1
9/11: Timeline of Terror Special Friday, Sept. 11, 2009 at 10 p.m. ET http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,548605,00.html "We love you, Dad, and we miss you," said Philip Hayes Jr., whose father, long retired from the Fire Department, rushed to the site that 2001 morning and ultimately gave his life. President Barack Obama, observing his first Sept. 11 as president, had signed an order declaring it a day of service. He and first lady Michelle Obama marked a moment of silence on the South Lawn of the White House as a bugler played taps at 8:46 a.m., when the attacks began. Obama has distanced himself from many of the anti-terror policies of former President George W. Bush, but his remarks recalled Bush's speech to Congress in the immediate aftermath of the attacks: "We will not tire, we will not falter and we will not fail." Defense Secretary Robert Gates oversaw the ceremony held Friday at the Pentagon memorial.

In the coming months and years we will continue working to ensure that as much of the physical re-building is captured before this history is lost forever, and to tell as fully as possible our subjects’ stories " so that audiences will better understand and appreciate how people cope with the trauma of disasters. More than six years after the attacks, activity at the WTC site is increasing day by day as construction of the Freedom Tower and its sister buildings move into full swing " and our work over this time at the site has made us aware of how easy it is to miss critical events. We need your financial support to keep our cameras rolling and to expand the filming of the rebuilding of Ground Zero. Obama's 2002 Speech In Chicago
merrie
by merrie  10-27-2008    2
. . . . . and “heard the stories of fellow troops who first entered Auschwitz and Treblinka.” By Memorial Day 2008, however, Obama was claiming that it was his “uncle” who was “part of the first American troops to go into Auschwitz.” This proved problematic as well because Auschwitz, as the RNC pointed out, was actually liberated by the Russians. One would think Obama might have remembered this striking detail in 2002 when he attributed the liberation of Auschwitz to his grandfather’s “fellow troops.” As to why Obama opposed the war in Iraq six months before it began, there is some confusion. This point would have delighted the crowd at Chicago’s Federal Plaza in October 2002, if Obama had actually made it, but he did not. There, Obama made a more politic claim entirely, namely that Saddam “butchers his own people” and has “developed chemical and biological weapons and coveted nuclear capacity.”

Natasha was well known outside Russia as someone who sought justice and accountability for abuses by all sides to the conflict in Chechnya. We honored her with the Human Rights Watch Defender Award in 2007. Natasha had also been honored by various European institutions: In 2005 she received the European Parliament's Robert Shuman medal and in 2004 was awarded the "Right to Life" award by the Swedish Parliament. She also was the first recipient of the Anna Politkovskaya prize -- named for the journalist who met the same fate. While the international community applauded her work, the Chechen authorities were not as pleased. She risked, and lost, her life for her cause. We are planning a concerted response to ensure that Russia does not let this crime go uninvestigated or forgotten.Shared sentiment with chara and thnx... www.hrw.org

He was married and and added five children to the population, Which our Eugenist says was the right number for a parent of his generation, And our teachers report that he never interfered with their education. Was he free? Was he Happy? The question is absurd: Had anything been wrong, we should certainly have heard.

Congressional Summer Recess: Have a Great Time Guys!
disenchantedcitizen
by disenchantedcitizen  7-22-2009    2
The current salary for rank-and-file members of Congress is $174,000 per year. On average, over the last 9 years, they have met about 140 days a year. So far this congress has worked 23 days, out of a possible 46 days, or 50% of the time. Let's compare that to my work schedule. I get New Years Day off, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Easter, Thanksgiving Day, a half day on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and a half day on New Years Eve. I also get three sick days, and two weeks vacation. That's a total of twenty days off plus weekends, for a total of 120 days off a year. That means I work 68% of the year. Congress meets, on average 140 days a year, and is off 225 days. That means congress works 38% of the year. The average congressman makes $174,000 a year, that's $1,257.14 a day, $157.14 an hour (based on an 8 hour day). I make, well, significantly less than that. How much do you make? How hard do you work for it?

What's trashed at Arlington National Cemetery
brightlight4
by brightlight4  7-17-2009    3
Left out in the rain to rot were crayon drawings by children who had lost a parent, photographs of soldiers with their babies, painted portraits and thank-you notes from grade-school kids to fallen soldiers they had never known. Colors of artworks ran together. Photos were blurred and wilted. Poems and letters were illegible wads of wet paper. A worker in a brown uniform wandered among the graves, blasting the headstones with a power washer without regard to what was left of the mementos -- or the obviously uncomfortable mourners looking on. Some items got further soaked. The worker blasted others across the grass. Many of them would end up in a black trash bin in the cemetery's service area. Arlington's poor treatment of the mementos and gifts -- testaments to the personal cost of the post-9/11 wars in the Middle East -- appeared to stand in contrast to practices at other cemeteries. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, which runs 130 cemeteries across the country, asks people

Kind of puts in perspective the media frenzy circus of the laying to rest of St. Michael. True Jackson's death was news, but the media went so far over-board it bordered on the ridiculous. Farrah Fawcett died the same day I believe, however, once news broke that Jackson was rushed to the hospital, Fawcett may as well had died last year. Although some coverage was warranted since Jackson was a celebrity, but what we got was almost sickening.

Would the U.S. Government lie to U.S. Citizens? 1967 attack on U.S.S. Liberty by Israel
BobbyRutan
by BobbyRutan  7-11-2009    2
The attack began on the fourth day of the war. The Liberty was about 17 miles from the coast. Almost without warning, Israeli fighter jets tore into the ship with rockets, cannons and napalm. Shells smashed portholes, ripped gashes in sealed metal doors For those too young to remember, the Liberty was collecting intelligence off the Gaza Strip during the Six-Day War in June 1967. after reading this comprehensive and compelling account, it is hard to avoid the conclusion that Israel's actions were, at a minimum, criminally negligent -- and harder still to understand why no one in Israel was punished. McCain understood that a "report critical of Israel would trigger diplomatic ramifications and create domestic political trouble for the beleaguered White House, which now wanted to deemphasize the attack." As a consequence, McCain barred his staff from traveling to Israel and allowed only a week to complete the probe, "less time than it took to bury some of the dead."
