POPSI'll Be Damned If I'll Let You Misrepresent Me {{Blueridge}} says: Motive: Her romantic advances were rejected. There is no "hate crime" law for this, and depicts a similar scenario to one proposed in a Clipmark here, in its horrific reality. She will get life, while the "friend" she hated, got death. "Crimes of passion" are born of those who are not gratified in trying to obtain their selfish pleasures (like the men of Sodom who were storming Mayor Lot's House to "make sport" w/ two visitors, to take them by force). Passion is not "love", it is self-love, for personal gratification, and holds the targeted "romance" object as personal property, which they claim possession of mentally (giving birth to unjust jealousy), and therefore usurp to themselves a claim to use force to obtain or revenge. Sometimes in crime, other times something less. Note too the murderer was portrayed as a victim for "coming out as a lesbian". Astonishing.

POPSScientists Discover An Earth-Sized Planet Possibly With An Ocean Scientists also discovered that the orbit of planet Gliese 581 d, which was found in 2007, was located within the "habitable zone" — a region around a sun-like star that would allow water to be liquid on the planet's surface, Mayor said. He spoke at a news conference Tuesday at the University of Hertfordshire during the European Week of Astronomy and Space Science. Gliese 581 d is probably too large to be made only of rocky material, fellow astronomer and team member Stephane Udry said, adding it was possible the planet had a "large and deep" ocean. "It is the first serious 'water-world' candidate," Udry said.

POPSHiding the significance of Houston electing an openly gay Mayor The truth is this: Houston's mayoral seat was held by a Democrat before, and a Republican didn't even have a snowball's chance of winning it this time around ... All the cities of Texas voted for John Kerry in 2004 and Barack Obama in 2008. It's not that Texas isn't dominated by conservatives on a statewide level. It absolutely is. But narratives about the conservative monolith are not only unfair, but they have the potential to create long-term damage, too. If the liberal presence in Texas is ignored and written off, it won't get the support and the hope it needs to keep plugging. And right now, as the state's demographics start to move more towards urbanity and racial diversity, liberals need all the support they can get to seize the moment and turn the traditionally red state blue . Demographic trend across the United States: Republicans only win in white-dominated rural and suburban areas. Read clip in full @ source

POPSAnti-Capitalist Protesters Captivated by Copenhagen's Free Sex Offers From Uber-Capitalist Prostitutes John Galt notes the irony. I get a chuckle out of the great dichotomy currently taking place in Copenhagen. Literally thousands of the worlds left wing anti-Capitalists have descended or maybe it is ascended to Copenhagen in an attempt to implement world wide centralized control of the world's nation state economies, world trade and peoples' lives. At the same time, the professional ladies of the evening are offering their services free of charge due to the exceedingly extra high demand for their services that will take place from the huge influx of these anti-Capitalists. The Ladies will more than make up the forgiven fees for their services with the increased resulting demand and tips resulting derived therefrom.. POPSThe Growing Backlash Against Overparenting
The mayor of a Connecticut town agreed to chop down three hickory trees on one block after a woman worried that a stray nut might drop into her new swimming pool, where her nut-allergic grandson occasionally swam. A Texas school required parents wanting to help with the second-grade holiday party to have a background check first. Schools auctioned off the right to cut the carpool line and drop a child directly in front of the building — a spot that in other settings is known as handicapped parking. We were so obsessed with our kids' success that parenting turned into a form of product development. Parents demanded that nursery schools offer Mandarin, since it's never too soon to prepare for the competition of a global economy. High school teachers received irate text messages from parents protesting an exam grade before class was even over; college deans described freshmen as "crispies," who arrived at college already burned out, and "teacups," who seemed ready to break at the tiniest

POPSFunny stereotype essay on our visiting German market
You know those dystopian films that speculate about what England would have been like if the Germans had won the war? Well, they’d have made it into a theme park. Winter Wonderland, in London’s Hyde Park, is precisely what occupied Britain would have felt like if the EU had turned out to be the Volksunion. They try to tell you it’s a traditional Bavarian winter market transported to London with fraternal greetings for our edification and jollity, but oh, ho, ho, ho, it’s not. It’s the Santa has landed. It’s Blitz Noel. From a distance, it all looks like a regular fair: the carousels and Ferris wheels and a V-2 launch pad, the flashing lights and the colours, the familiar screams, the perennial Chrimbo game of spot the paedo with his festive sack and gaffer tape. But it’s not what it seems. I don’t like it, sergeant. The shifty young gypsies working the rides are just too blonde. Too disciplined and polite. They don’t smirk or stick their hands up your girlfriend’s frock on the dodgems.

POPSThey Do Things Differently in Mindinao Dirty politics doesn't mean breaking into a rival party headquarters, it involves killing everyone (including a dozen journalists) in a motorcade. About 7,100 of the 7,107 islands are mostly inhabited by kind, civil people. The other places are known for kidnappings of foreigners and continual civil war. There is another characteristic of that minority that is mentioned in the article. Bet you can't guess what it is...

POPSThousands Gather For Stuffing Of Giant Rockefeller Center Turkey "I knew the crowds were going to be huge, but I wanted my son to be here on the day all the stuffing went in," said Cleveland resident Dean Carlson, who was visiting New York with his family. "You should have seen the look on his face when they peeled back the skin with that giant skidder. This is something he'll remember for the rest of his life." On Tuesday, gravy boats came up the Hudson River, while dump trucks heaped with mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and boiled corn lined Sixth Avenue for nearly a mile. Several dozen workers have also been added to the payroll to shovel congealed fat and gristle off the sidewalks until the end of December. "You know the holidays are right around the corner when you can smell raw turkey from 50 blocks away," SoHo resident Stephen Finney said. "Thanksgiving in New York just wouldn't be the same without it." LOL

POPSTaser gun used on 10-year-old girl who 'refused to take shower' A police officer used a Taser stun gun to subdue a 10-year-old girl in her own home. ""If you can't pick the kid up and take her to your car, handcuff her, then I don't think you need to be an officer. She doesn't deserve to be treated like a dog. She's not a tiger." Local Mayor Vernon McDaniel said the FBI should investigate. He said: "People here feel like that he made a mistake in using a Taser, and maybe he did, but we will not know until we get an impartial investigation." The local Police Chief Jim Noggle said no disciplinary action was taken against Bradshaw. "We didn't use the Taser to punish the child, just to bring the child under control so she wouldn't hurt herself or somebody else," he said. He said if the officer tried to forcefully put the girl in handcuffs, he could have accidentally broken her arm or leg. Mr Noggle said the girl will face disorderly conduct charges as a juvenile."

POPSA History Lesson "Last month the Chicago Board of Education dropped plans to open the city's first public high school for gay and lesbian students after Mayor Richard M. Daley questioned whether it would isolate children. But Hannah Devane, 17, a student at Harvey Milk, said mainstream schools failed her. She felt alienated and became so depressed, Devane said, she didn't get out of bed in the mornings. She stopped attending classes. When Devane was 13, she heard about the Harvey Milk school in the news and decided to ask her counselor to help her transfer. "Coming here changed my life," she said. "Now, I'm an A student."

POPSPolice officer uses Taser on 10-year-old I'm with the mayor. The kid is ten. The mother is remiss, to say the least. The policeman should have known better. Keep it in the closet and no need to upset the adults. Find the kid uncontrollable and institutionalize her. I hope the father loves her, because no one else seems to.
