POPSMysterious people who appeared in the village of Woolpit in Suffolk, UK, in the 12th century. The children were brother and sister and they had green colored skin. Their appearance was normal in all other areas. They spoke an unrecognized language and refused to eat anything other than pitch from bean pods. Eventually their skin lost its green color. When they learned English they explained that they were from the ‘Land of St Martin’ which was a dark place because the sun never rose far above the horizon. They claimed that they were tending their father’s herd and followed a river of light when they heard the sounds of bells - finding themselves in Woolpit. Some of the more unusual theories proposed for the origin of the children are that they were Hollow Earth children, parallel dimension children, or Extraterrestrial children.

POPSRight Wing Americans are Getting What They Deserve Here's the last bit :) All I can say is that this is what you get for believing even for a moment what the US corporate media wants you to believe. The rest of us Bush haters are Bush haters for one reason and one reason only; we pay attention! So to my new former Bush supporting friends who seem to be suddenly surrounding me and telling me that I have been right all along: you can tell me I was right but after that shut the hell up because it is too late for forgiveness. From now on, just shut up and listen. Think about it! Yeah!! I just had to clip this. I just had to! .:D I'm just gonna have to take the s*** and excuses and apologetics the Bush supporters and neo-con clippers are gonna try to give me on this, but I don't care. It's most definitely worth it. This clip is for all my fellow "Bush-haters" Enjoy! I did!

POPSKeith Olbermann calls out Rudy Guiliani This is one of the most powerful, passionate statements by a tv media figure that i've ever seen. Personally, i think Giulliani is a fraud. I lived in new york city during 9/11. And there is no doubt that Giulliani did a fine job maintaining calm. And i totally respected him for it. But i have not only lost that respect, i now completely disrespect him because he is so happy and proud to flaunt his leadership role that day.

POPSFake eye - prosthetics from 4,800 years ago. Harris said the primary reason for the artificial eyeball would not have been medical. "She could have worn a patch, but perhaps her family wanted her to look her best for public appearances," he explained. Damn the wealthy!!;) I'm sure all the other girls back then would have wanted the fake eye too.

POPSShakespeare playhouse uncovered in Shoreditch Jo Lyon, senior archaeologist at the Museum of London, said: "It's extremely exciting to be so close to the known location of The Theatre and then find remains that look to be associated with it. "As well as allowing us to walk in the footsteps of Shakespeare himself, the remains help us to start uncovering one of London's enduring secrets. "We can now start to work on the detail of what the building here might have looked like, and expand our knowledge of the playhouses of Elizabethan London." The remains were uncovered during construction of a new home for the Tower Theatre Company. It is hoped they can be preserved on the site. Museum of London Director Jack Lohman said: "The finds at New Inn Broadway offer a tantalising glimpse into Shakespeare's city, and the proposed theatre development on this special site seems a fitting way to harness the energy and spirit of a place that is so central to the story of London and Londoners."

POPSInappropriate, inexcusable and indefensible
For the last week or so, Bill O'Reilly has been waging a one-man war against the website DailyKos. One thing he's been doing is going through and pointing out comments left in some threads that express ideas that are, quite frankly, inappropriate, inexcusable and indefensible. O'Reilly's one to talk. Not only do comments at his own site contain comments that are just as inappropriate, inexcusable and indefensible, but Bill O'Reilly himself has been known to make comments that are inappropriate, inexcusable and indefensible himself. Below is a quote from November 2005. I've chosen it because while it's not necessarily a recent quote, it is one that is so heinous that O'Reilly should have lost his job over it. This comment should be spread around as much as possible. Not enough was made of it at the time, but now, since O'Reilly's on his "saying hateful things is bad" campaign, he needs to be taught just what happens when hateful things come out of HIS mouth.

POPSCity road networks grow like biological systems "Beyond the economic, demographic and geographic "forces" that shape a town, there are a myriad of small "accidents" that contribute",says Marc Barthélemy of the French Atomic Energy Commission in Bruyères-le-Châtel."Although these are unpredictable, they can be understood in terms of statistics and simple modelling." The researchers will now study how road networks developed over time in old cities, such as London and Paris. They hope to unearth other possible universal features that might be present to refine their model.

POPSThe last 26 years in 4 sentences. At first I thought it was overly simplistic, but for a sweeping overview, it's kind of frighteningly on the mark. Longish article by Salon ed-in-chief Joan Walsh reviewing Matt Bai's new book (about how the Democratic Party went to hell in a handbasket during the Bush years). Lots of interesting ideas; well worth a read.

POPSGiuliani Is Simply Incapable of Being Truthful I hope many of you will take the time to read this entire article. Giuliani, the more he is interviewed, the more unstable he appears. His constant laughter when questions are asked of him, belies his strong, tough, stage persona, and reveals someone who is so uncomfortable facing the facts of who he really is and what he sincerely believes that it is actually painful to watch. His excuses for the radios is sadder than it is anger provoking.

POPSThe Man Who Exposed China More: The toothpaste scare helped galvanize global concerns about the quality of China’s exports in general, prompting the government there to promise to reform how food, medicine and consumer products are regulated. And other countries are re-examining how well they monitor imported products. Lost in this swirl of activity was the identity of the person who started it all — Mr. Arias.
