POPSWhy Humans Can't Navigate Out of a Paper Bag That these skills are so easily lost could explain why the average westerner struggles to navigate without help. Most people now live in a world that has been made navigable by maps, street signs, transport networks and GPS. There is no need to understand the environment to get around. Losing our relationship with physical space, coupled with the unique human ability to imagine ourselves in another location, may have given us the freedom to create a reality of our own. What other species could comprehend the World Wide Web or contemplate exploring new worlds? And while we may struggle to find our way back to the car after a shopping trip, we can take heart in the knowledge that, as a species, we have managed to find our way to the moon and back, and have sent satellites to just the right orbit so that we no longer need to think about where we are going. Show me a hamster that can do that.

POPSGlobal Warming is NOT TRUE???!!!! SO Why Floods Are Expected Soon? Wall Street, a few meters above sea level, will also be swallowed, along with much of New York City, as ocean circulation winds down in the Atlantic, subjecting the Northeast to hyperviolent storms and surges. (Of course, given its role in our current "econopocalypse," few might not consider that such a bad thing.) Another world away, southern Africa has been swamped by floods worse than anything the region has experienced in decades, which has killed over 100 and made 100,000 homeless.

POPSA Bosnian Muslim's perspective on public political donation lists Following the passage of Proposition 8, many of the people who donated money to help its passage now feel increasingly uncomfortable about having that financial support publicly known. Some have even filed a lawsuit to block their campaign finance records from public view . Now somebody has done a mash-up of Google Maps with the Prop. 8 donor list; the result is EightMaps . This clip is from a comment by a woman who grew up Muslim in Sarajevo. She knows something about what can happen when this kind of disdain for one's fellow citizens and refusal to recognize them as equals is allowed to fester and grow in the darkness of secrecy.

POPS7 Google searches I wish I could take back ! Google’s Web History was activated by default. I had a tough time explaining the motivation behind a few of them. ;-) Some were a little scary and others were downright hilarious, but one point became clear: If you’re not careful, Google will know every move you make on the web… the good, the bad, and the ugly.

POPSHow to check Iowa Caucus results I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this. I'm definitely not as educated as I should be about it, but it seems that It's a shame that in these days of ubiquitous connectivity and mass media we still rely on an antiquated primary system to decide who gets to run.

POPSOffended Muslim Syndrome In order to guard against OMS, health officials warn individuals who are at risk to make sure that the objective reality they are exposed to does not: * Make them aware of the outside world * Trigger curiosity about the Western notions of "logic" or "rationality" * Make life more enjoyable * Cause them to question the need for martyrdom * Have side effects such as independent thinking and longing to live as a productive individual * Create an illusion that communication with infidels is possible without hostage-taking
