POPSLaw Says Lighters are a Child Endangerment This is in the category of "Legislation for your own good". Why make a law to not sell something that is/was already legal? Why not just put responsibility on the owner of the lighter, or make it a law to keep it in your pocket or purse? What happened to the constitutional rights of citizens? Remember Life Liberty and the pursuit of happiness? Some of these items are collectibles as well. I am just so fed up with this petty legislation. When I here how backlogged the Oregon Legislature is all of the time, it really gets my blood boiling to think of what are they really doing down there in Salem? We have some real issues to deal with here. And don't smokers have enough to deal with, without telling us what we can or cannot light up with? Good grief! If you have kids, keep your guns, hand grenades, matches, machetes, firecrackers, and lighters away from them. Thank You.

POPSThe Great Pacific Garbage Patch is twice the size of France
I know this is an old story, but like the plastic and trash we keep throwing away, it just won’t go away. Measurements show there is six times more plastic than plankton in this area. Plastic does not biodegrade; no microbe has yet evolved that can feed on it. Prolonged exposure to sunlight causes polymer chains to break down into smaller and smaller pieces, a process accelerated by physical friction, such as being blown across a beach or rolled by waves. Worldwide, according to the United Nations Environment Programme, plastic is killing a million seabirds a year, and 100,000 marine mammals and turtles. Bottle caps, pocket combs, cigarette lighters, tampon applicators, cottonbud shafts, toothbrushes, toys, syringes and plastic shopping bags are routinely found in the stomachs of dead seabirds and turtles. Every single molecule of plastic that has ever been manufactured is still somewhere in the environment, and some 100 million tons of it are floating in the oceans.

POPSDisposable Batteries For Your Cell Phone If Bic can make this technology work it would be a pretty huge development for the world of portable electronics. We need new sources of power for the new generation of wireless, juice-hungry gadgets, and fuel cells would deliver significantly more power than today's rechargables. Imagine using your phone for weeks without having to charge it.

POPSLed Zeppelin Rocks Again. I've heard many expressions of confusion about what Zeppelin songs mean, or are they all "dazed and confused," themselves. but I think it's easy: 1.) They want a woman, 2) They want to get away from a woman, 3) They like woman, 4) They hate woman, 5) They want a woman to come back 6) They want a woman to stay away,7) They want to plunge every inch of their love deep deep deep, 8) They want to ramble on, 9) they think woman are excessively interested in shopping. lol I got their newly released remixed album, Mothership, Pretty awesome.

POPSNovelty lighters a serious risk Please look for information and resources to help us get these lighters banned. Other than for profit motive, one must wonder why these companies are marketing lighters to children. A lighter is a tool, not a toy. Yet, these are made to look much like the candy dispensers and children's toys found in fast-food chain restaurant children's meals!

POPSPlastic a Revolution -Plastic a Curse We are, often innocently, contributing to a mammoth and growing problem. Our oceans, for one, often the ultimate waste destination are being devastated by an avalanche of plastic which is affecting all manner of sea and bird life. The problem is huge!
