POPSThis is what little girls looked like when I was a kid No pink. No sparkles. No fake high heels – or worse, real high heels. Just a kid, wearing clothes a kid can play in, playing with a toy for kids. Damn, I honestly never thought I'd feel nostalgic for 1981, but you look around at the pink-pink-pink-pretty-princess image that's shoved down girls' throats these days, and suddenly the 1970s standard kids' outfit (t-shirt, Tuffskins jeans, and Keds or other plain, practical sneakers) looks wonderful.

POPSGreen Indoctrination Happening At Our Schools Now I know the “s” word gets thrown around a lot in politics, but it seems pretty clear to me that environmentalism is all about indoctrinating kids into socialist thinking. In the past socialism hasn’t got in in free western societies because, well, the fruits of freedom and free market capitalism are just too tasty for anyone to want socialism. But with environmentalism as a vehicle for socialism, suddenly it becomes a lot more appealing. Suddenly it’s not about dragging everyone down to the lowest common denominator. It’s not about subjugating the individual for the good of the collective. Suddenly, it’s about saving the planet lest we die in an ice-cap-melting armageddon! This an effective tactic, and it’s exactly why the government shouldn’t have a monopoly on education any more.

POPSLego Sunglasses Kids small enough to think these are way-cool can surely find a way to choke on the parts.

POPSThe Romance of Objects "If we attend to young scientists' romance with objects, we are encouraged to make children comfortable with the idea that falling in love with things is part of what we expect of them. We are encouraged to introduce the periodic table as poetry and LEGOs as a form of art."

POPS'Old-boy's club holding back innovation We all now have access to a vast amount of research and data on the net. a Few people would have absolutely no hope, but the networks being created on the web, are places where anyone can comment, or include findings, so the pieces can start coming together more quickly. It isn't what we know that is important. it's what we do with the knowledge

POPSThe Recession-Proof Repo Man That lead paragraph just about sums it up. Another reminder that there's always a recession-proof job out there. I want to focus, however, on a claim in the middle of the story, that "No one grows up aspiring to be a repo man." Is that true? It seems that I've met a lot of people in life who kind of have a chip on their shoulder and would really love to take people's boats away. I'm not suggesting that real repo men have chips on their shoulder. I'm just saying... I knew some kids who took any opportunity to snatch away my Legos, and surely, as adults, they would love to snatch away my boat. If they could do it legally. Well, and if I had a boat.

POPSI wish I could be little again… When people would throw up at school. The days of tag, dodgeball, and kick ball. When you built forts to protect yourself from people that never came. When you could pretend and people didnt look at you and think you are moron. The days and nights of capture the flag, hide and seek, flashlight tag, red rover, and of course the huge parachute thing that

POPSIt's like smiling when you talk on the phone... When you talk on the phone, if you smile, people can "hear' the smile in your voice. As cute and humorous as this post is, there is an element of truth to what is said. If you dress appropriately, you will reflect your professionalism while you work - even if it is virtually.
