The Nullification of ObamaCare
kareval
by kareval  Yesterday 7:05 PM    3
So if you think marching on D.C. or calling your Representatives, or threatening to “throw the bums out” in 2010 or 2012 or 20-whatever, is going to further the cause of the Constitution and your liberty—you might as well get your shackles on now. Your last chance has come and gone. The real way to resist DC is not by begging politicians and judges in Washington to allow us to exercise our rights…it’s to exercise our rights whether they want to give us “permission” to or not. Nullification—state-level resistance to unconstitutional federal laws—is the way forward. When a state nullifies a federal law, it is proclaiming that the law in question is void and inoperative, or ’effective,’ within the boundaries of that state; or, in other words, not a law as far as that state is concerned. It’s peaceful, effective, and has a long history in the American tradition. It’s been invoked in support of free speech, in opposition to war and fugitive slave laws, and more. Read more on thi

What the Copenhagen treaty means to you.
papadavid
by papadavid  12-13-2009
The wording of the treaty creates governmental bodies with a vast array of power over environmental affairs. The treaty gives these new governmental bodies tremendous power over the lives of every man, woman and child on earth. It even grants these new governmental authorities authority over the U.S. government and the U.S. Constitution. "Tax the American economy to the extent of 2 percent GDP, to impose a further tax of 2 percent on every financial transaction.and to close down effectively the economies of the west, transfer your jobs to third world countries all of that is still in the treaty draft." 700 new organizations that would be crawling all over the world micromanaging the lives of every man, woman and child - making sure that they are adhering to the edicts of the new environmental world laws.

Ireland imposes new blasphemy law

I'm reposting this far and wide. I wonder if they realize that this goes both ways. Now you'll have Xtians and Muslims and Buddhists and Catholics all being given a fine, because they all blaspheme each other! LOL Priceless!! All we have to do is get all atheists to shush up for just a little while, and watch the hilarity ensue! Then when they're all bankrupt from fines (and most likely jail time for not being able to pay those fines, eventually), THEN us atheists can rise up and call them ALL on being the biggest idiots to walk the Earth!

Rove: Champion of "traditional" divorce
ratilfar
by ratilfar  12-30-2009    2
Actually, this is Rove's second divorce. His first wife was "Valerie Wainright, a wealthy Houston woman from the Bush social circle, but the marriage could not withstand his consuming preoccupation with politics." They divorced after three years of marriage. So the one that was just terminated was Rove's second "traditional marriage" to end without death doing them part. His next traditional marriage will be to his third wife. Did I mention that Rove believes it's vital that our secular laws enforce precepts of "traditional marriages" and bar everything else?

in closing: "I've long thought that the solution to the cheap, cost-free moralizing that leads very upstanding people like Karl Rove to want to ban same-sex marriages (which they don't want to enter into themselves, and thus cost them nothing) is to have those same "principles" apply consistently to all marriage laws. If Karl Rove, Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh and their friends and followers actually were required by law to stay married to their wives -- the way that "traditional marriage" was generally supposed to work -- the movement to have our secular laws conform to "traditional marriage" principles would almost certainly die a quick, quiet and well-deserved death." http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/pages/2010-California-Protection-of-Marriage-Act/

I don't often publish anything derogatory, but after listening to Eddie Izzard, supposed comedian, waxing on about the wonderful Labour Party, let me add my pennyworth. If there is a hell on Earth, Labour has put us through it in the past decade. The Blackpool South Arse Licker extraordinary, MP Gordon Marsden, has already started campaigning and is using Parliamentary funds to circulate his constituents with a letter containing nothing but a whitewash of the facts to suit Labour hounds. The letters are illegal as they come out of Parliamentary funds and cannot be used for electioneering. Will Gordon be taken to task let alone charge with improper use of funds? NO. Even though he is well aware of the Misfeasance in Public Office laws and has just ignored them. Just like so many politicians... And Labour supporters wil keep voting for them because of DOGMA and becausethey have not the brains or the will to tell their corrupt masters they are wrong. Happy New Year

Health Care Bill Could Face String of Legal Challenges
billpar
by billpar  12-28-2009    1
Third, auto insurance regulation occurs at the state level. When the Congressional Budget Office considered the idea of a health insurance mandate back in 1994 under the Clinton administration, it concluded that the mandate would be "an unprecedented form of federal action." The only congressional mandate close to that was the draft, the CBO concluded. Other legal objections are emerging in the wake of a concession that Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., won for his state as a condition for his support of the health care bill. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid agreed to provide for full and permanent federal aid for Nebraska's expanded Medicaid population. It was only one of a slew of hand-crafted sweetheart deals for those senators who agreed to support the bill. Graham said his state could file an equal rights suit under the Constitution. The Constitution calls for "equal protection" of all citizens.

Obama Executive Order Cedes US Sovereignty, Citizen Rights to Interpol

In 1972 the sitting Interpol President was Paul Dickopf, former Nazi SS officer (SS #337259). Photo of Dickopf on bottom of previous page. Nudge, nudge folks… This seems a minor change but let us break it out for you as we see it. Let’s look at the section from Executive Order 12425. Here’s the text of 2(c), which this Executive Order now has applying to Interpol: (c) Property and assets of international organizations, wherever located and by whomsoever held, shall be immune from search, unless such immunity be expressly waived, and from confiscation. The archives of international organizations shall be inviolable. This now says that Interpol is no longer subject to the Freedom of Information Act. Their premises or staff can no longer be searched either. Their files are not subject to legal subpoena or discovery. Our government could just hand documents and files over to Interpol and Americans would no longer have access to them. Interpol can legally keep

Following Bartlett's logic, it's a case of do or die (if not, do and die), if not on the level of the individual, then on the level of humankind. People need to start to care for themselves (and others!) on the level of the species. The selfish individualism fostered by the consumer economy and the whole trash heap of economic growth theory needs to thrown overboard first, otherwise the boat will most certainly sink.

'not green enough' will be rationed. The cross enforcement of anti-pollution laws and green technologies will bring the EPA to the party as an enforcement arm tailored to regulating all manner of pollution producers. Think of banning riding mowers as creating pollution and a sedentary lifestyle, thus running afoul of the 'Green AND Obesity Police.' Want to smoke a cigar with your goombahs at the local pizzeria? Fuggedaboudit! Pizza will, of course, be banned or regulated as a major cause of obesity. Those ovens that pump out CO2 by the cubic yard have got to go, too. And cigars? Not only do they cause cancer, global warming and spew aroma pollutants, but the second hand smoke is a weapon used to assault other peoples' health. Now fur-wearing can be rightfully banned as the glorification of sport hunting among otherwise 'civilized' people. The practical implications of amassing policy-making power in one central administration is almost endless as more and more regulatory

When Liberal Dreams Collide With Public Opinion
merrie
by merrie  12-22-2009    1
"What's really exceptional at this stage of Obama's presidency," writes Andrew Kohut, the Pew Research Center's respected pollster, "is the extent to which the public has moved in a conservative direction on a range of issues. These trends have emanated as much from the middle of the electorate as from the highly energized conservative right. From which we can draw two conclusions. One is that economic distress does not move Americans to support more government. Rasmussen reports that 66 percent of Americans favor smaller government with fewer services and only 22 percent favor more services and higher taxes. The second is that Barack Obama's persuasive powers are surprisingly weak. His advocacy seems to have moved Americans in the opposite of the intended direction. Obama first came to national attention in 2004 by promising to heal partisan, ideological and racial divisions. Like the other two Democratic presidents elected in the last 40 years .....

Barack Obama's Rule by EPA Decree Is a coup d'etat Against Congress, Made In Britain - ClimateGate
merrie
by merrie  12-19-2009    2
In the first place, regulation can be challenged in a way that laws cannot. So the EPA’s proposed ruling on so-called “Greenhouse Gases” can be opposed extensively with litigation, to the point that the ruling might not yet be in force when Obama demits office. In the second place, the EPA is funded by Congress. So, if the Agency is being used to bypass or neuter Congress, why should legislators not play hardball and retaliate by cutting off its funding? The EPA may look formidable, but its situation is rather as if Rommel were buying the fuel for his tanks from the Allies. But what is of compelling interest on this side of the pond is the way in which the bullets to shoot down American democracy were made in Britain. The trail is not hard to follow.

Abortion Legalized In Spain
cici-ristic
by cici-ristic  12-20-2009    1
Abortion was nevertheless widely available because women can assert mental distress as the sole ground for accessing the procedure, regardless of the progress of the pregnancy. More than 100,000 abortions are conducted in Spain each year, and most of them are early-term procedures that fell under the mental distress category. This bill, however, is important, because it erases the threat of jail time and declares abortion to be a woman's right. This is important, because in the past there have been serious consequences for women, doctors and clinics.
