Cap-and-Trade Will Cause Dems Greater Slaughter in 2010 Midterms
merrie
by merrie  12-27-2009
Just what the country needs, a tax that will restrict the economy during an economic down turn. However, Obama seems to be on a liberal suicide mission as he knows that the Democrats are going to get creamed in the 2010 midterms, so why not inflict as much liberal/socialist damage on the US while Donkeys have an overwhelming majority. Because after 2010, Barack Hussein Obama may just be without the House and the Senate. ObamaCare Sparking 10th Amendment Action in Seven States

Graham has been all over cable news today visibly angry about the vote-buying by Reid that secured the votes of Senators Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, Ben Nelson of Nebraska, and Bernie Sanders of Vermont, as well as possibly other senators as yet unknown. DeMint has also been active, especially on the issue of the Reid amendment's provision seeking to bar future congresses from changing even a single word of Section 3403 on the Independent Medicare Advisory Board (IMAB). The IMAB will become the federal health care ground zero under Obamacare if it becomes law. Ed Morrissey at Hot Air has a link to DeMint's floor speech on the issue and additional information, analyses, and links. Nelson's deal with Reid has attracted the most attention because it exempts Nebraska from paying its share of Medicaid expenses in perpetuity. Medicaid expenditures are among the most expensive federal mandates on state governments, and the Obamacare bill will significantly increase costs

I'm glad that our Texas senators called bullshit on this pork-laden, unconstitutional monstrosity. Yeah. I know, I know, I KNOW! Republicans do it, too. The problem is with the entire Congress. They are out for their own best interest - not ours. Vote them all out!

Reid Prepares to Sneak Vote Thru at 1:00 A.M. MONDAY MORNING!

by merrie  12-20-2009    2
Harry Reid has now introduced what is called his managers amendment — the secret deal that will serve as a substitute for the decoy that was the 2,074-page bill the Senate has been debating for the past three weeks. So is this bill any better? NO IT STINKS: The bill slashes hundreds of billions from Medicare to fund a new government program – cuts to hospitals, nursing homes, and hospices that care for our seniors cuts that a pair of Senate Democrats voted repeatedly to reject. The bill includes massive tax increases on American families and businesses at a time of double digit unemployment. The bill includes a massive new entitlement -the CLASS Act – which the Democrat chairman of the Budget Committee described as a Ponzi scheme. A bipartisan majority (including 11 Democrats) voted to strike the CLASS Act — and they should withhold their support.

The deal is for Ben Nelson, forever and forever, Amen. Forever and ever and only for Nebraska! Nebraska will never have to pick up an share of the Medicaid amount due because Ben Nelson sold his soul. As stated on Fox, this is going to outrage an awful lot of people. The response, it already has. How can states that may already be in fiscal trouble be responsible to pay for another states Medicaid obligation. FOREVER!!! Read the text of the bill at Big Government.com (http://bit.ly/8gOike) where every other state in the United States will have to pay for Nebraska’s Medicaid. “As part of the deal to win Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson’s support, the federal government will fund Nebraska’s new Medicaid recipients. It’s a provision worth about $45 million over the first decade.” (Chris Frates, “Ben Nelson’s Medicaid deal,” Politico, 12/19/09)

Where is the Senate Democrats' health care bill? Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) wants to know. Oh, this mysterious legislation will transform--or perhaps destroy--one-sixth of the US economy. From a McConnell press release: WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell made the following remarks on the Senate floor Friday regarding the importance of getting it right on health care reform: The majority leader has signaled that he will finally unveil the most significant piece of domestic legislation in modern history some time on Saturday — and force a vote in the middle of the night about 36 hours later. This is outrageous. This will be a bill that none of my constituents have seen; that none of the Majority Leader’s constituents have seen; that none of you have seen and that nobody outside of the Capitol has seen. read more ........ http://bit.ly/729Q0G marathonpundit

Also: The Dems now expect the CBO scoring of the Reid plan that no one has seen to look good once the Medicare expansion is thrown under the bus. And: After all the sound and fury, Joe Lieberman is now reportedly on board with Demcare. Update: Heeeeere come’s MoveOn! Steamed at the Democrat majority over negotiating with Joe Lieberman, the nutroots will hold their own “emergency rally” today at 1pm Eastern today to lobby for nationalized health care. Wonder if unhinged Jane Hamsher will show up to burn Sen. Lieberman’s wife in effigy. Update 11:49am Eastern: Lieberman talking to press right now. Says Demcare plan is now “heading in the right direction.” GOP Sen. Susan Collins is standing by him, smiling, through his remarks. Ok, Susan Collins speaks. She can’t see voting for the bill in its current form. “It’s still too deeply flawed for me to support it.” She says she won’t support it even with amendments intended to improve the bill (that no one has seen, of course).

Aren't we all encouraged by the serious, dedicated, bi-partisan, transparent work being done by our *representatives* in Washington?? However, I believe they were surely watching the wrong sport. I guess it's not basketball season when their thoughts would be more in tuned to a 'slam-dunk' against the American peoples' wishes regarding their HealthCare bill. I watched Durbin today hammer against the American Insurance companies saying that the Government could offer the citizens a much more fair and balanced option for their health care. His main concern seemed to be the private insurances and drug company's profits. So this really is about a full-frontal attack on the free-market system, capitalism, and our choice as to who we want to entrust our insurance/health care coverage to. While they party and watch a football game during their 'negotiating session', you & I get to worry about what they are going to do to us through the ramifications of this horrible bill that they in

Senate Debate That Was Scripted in The Southern Gothic Style
merrie

After Landrieu threw in her support (she asserted that the extra Medicaid funds were "not the reason" for her vote), the lone holdout in the 60-member Democratic caucus was Sen. Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas. Like other Democratic moderates who knew a single vote could kill the bill, she took a streetcar named Opportunism, transferred to one called Wavering and made off with concessions of her own. Indeed, the all-Saturday debate, which ended with an 8 p.m. vote, occurred only because Democratic leaders had yielded to her request for more time. By Dana Milbank ... Keith Olbermann Helps Raiise $1.2 Million For Free Health Care Clinics

Wednesday night on "Countdown," Olbermann announced that, thanks to the generosity of "Countdown" viewers, a health fair would take place in New Orleans on November 14. This is on top of health fairs already planned for November 9-10 in Kansas City and November 21 in Little Rock. How did this idea come about? "We were looking for something to relieve the frustration so many people felt," Olbermann told the Huffington Post. "I thought of an insurance strike, but insurrectionist as that might sound, it would endanger lives. So Rich Stockwell, one of my Senior Producers, suggested that the Free Health Clinics group turns every dollar donated into five in services. Thus if we helped them stage clinics in the key cities, we'd get help to thousands of people, we'd relieve that sense of near-paralysis, and we might even put some pressure on those Democratic Senators who won't even commit to precluding a filibuster. So this one was Rich's."

Mr. Wheeler said that senators took most of the cash for the projects from the "operations and maintenance" or O&M accounts. 8 Dems Oppose Quick Debate On Global Warming Bill
merrie

Fast-track budget rules were used to enact President George W. Bush's tax cuts and two major budget bills during the Clinton administration, including a 1993 measure that failed to win a single GOP vote. The House and Senate Budget committees are slated to vote on the budget resolution next week, with Senate debate scheduled for the week of March 30. There also has been speculation that the expedited rules could be used to pass a health care overhaul bill, but senior Senate Democrats such as Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., oppose the idea, saying health reform must be enacted on a bipartisan basis. The White House is open to the idea of using the fast-track rules for both global warming and health care. "We would prefer not to start there, but we're not taking anything off the table at this point," White House budget chief Peter Orszag said last week.
