The Cost Of This Imperative Will Be Paid For In Lost Freedoms
merrie
by merrie  11-16-2009    1
This bitter pill might be easier to swallow if the new left was at least honest in admitting that the cost of seeing this imperative through will be paid for in freedoms. These new Knights Templar have defended their cause with constant references to affordability and yet under their plan what is affordable ceases to be a subjective measure that each man can make for himself according to his individual needs and priorities. Rather it becomes an objective measure defined by the new “Commissioner of Health Choices.” Every American will be forced to purchase an insurance policy. The government will decide what benefits those policies must include. Even if you are happy with your current insurance plan you will have to switch to a policy that includes the government mandated benefits even if you don’t want them, will never use them and their inclusion will increase the price you pay for coverage. And suppose you decide for whatever reason that you are simply not going to pay? .....

Aramaic Writing Found on Turin Shroud
cakebelly
by cakebelly  8-6-2009    2
more: She said it would not be unusual for something to be written on a burial cloth in order to indicate the identity of the deceased. Frale, who is a researcher at the Vatican Secret Archives, has written a new book on the shroud and the Knights Templar, the medieval crusading order which, she says, may have held secret custody of the Shroud of Turin during the 13th and 14th centuries. She told Vatican Radio that she has studied the writings on the shroud in an effort to find out if the Knights had written them. "When I analyzed these writings, I saw that they had nothing to do with the Templars because they were written at least 1,000 years before the Order of the Temple was founded" in the 12th century, she said.

He spotted the piece at a car boot sale in Otley, West Yorks, where it is believed to have ended up following a house clearance somewhere in North Yorkshire. If its origins are verified, the unusual item is expected to go under the hammer at Christie's in December.

Friday the 13th History
merrie
by merrie  3-13-2009
It is also said that people are fearful of driving that the rate of accidents on this day of superstition is lower than any other. It is one of the most feared days of the year. It is a superstition about a day of good or bad luck and derives from Greek words meaning “Friday, thirteen, fear”. There is no evidence for a “Friday the 13th” superstition before the 19th century. The earliest known source of such a superstition was in 1869 biography of Gioachino Rossini. However, many believe that the superstition had been passed down by oral tradition. The following has lots of facts and information on the origins of cultural religious&spiritual histories. How The Fear Of Friday the 13th Began . . . http://www.brownielocks.com/fridaythe13th.html

Freemasons::How And When Did They Begin?
merrie
by merrie  12-7-2007    1
Given the clandestine nature of the Freemasons, it's not surprising that they give careful consideration before admitting new members. To join, a man must fill out a petition and obtain two sponsors within the Lodge. He will then be voted in by secret ballot. Potential new members are asked whether they believe in God, and they must answer "yes" to be admitted. Although they don't have to be wealthy, members must have enough money to pay membership fees and to make the regular charitable donations that are expected of all Freemasons. New Freemasons start out as Entered Apprentices. During the initiation ceremony, the Freemasons recount the building of King Solomon's Temple and the murder of Hiram Abiff. The new member is blindfolded and confronted by three men, who order him to reveal the Freemasons' secrets. He swears he will not tell, and then pretends to die and be resurrected into Masonry.

Vatican and Knights Templar
spherepet
by spherepet  10-24-2007
The reality of the saga of the Knights Templar is almost as amazing as the myths that embellish it. Vatican publisher Scrinium made 800 copies of the trial against the Templars for $8,375 apiece. The 1308 parchment original chronicles the accusations, the defense, and Pope Clement V's absolution of the order, before he did an about-face and eliminated it.

Vatican publishes Knights Templar papers
pokkets
by pokkets  10-12-2007    2
Found in Vatican archives in 2001, they document the trial of the order in the 14th century. The order was suppressed in 1312 by Pope Clement V. The Cardinals concluded the Templars were guilty of abuses, but not 'real heresy'. 800 copies will be made available in a limited edition. There are details of the contents at the Vatican Archives site:http://asv.vatican.va/en/doc/1308.htm

Happy Friday the 13th
Wadard
by Wadard  7-13-2007    3
The modern reason why Friday the 13th is considered unlucky is said to come from Friday October the 13th, 1307. On this date, the Pope of the church in Rome in conjunction with the King of France, carried out a secret death warrant Against "the Knights Templar". The Templars were terminated as heretics, never again to hold the power that they had held for so long. The Grand Master, Jacques DeMolay, was arrested and before he was killed, was tortured and crucified. The destruction of the Templar Knights was so complete and terrible that it will always be remembered as an unlucky day. Wikipedia.org It was also unlucky for the pope and the king of France at the time. When Jacques DeMolay was burned at the stake in front of the pope and King Philip the Fair, he cursed them wiz 'ees dying breath. They both died the next year.
