POPSPalin & the Dysfunctional Political Class The current GOP seems to look for mediocrity...someone who will *fit*...a person who appears *electable*, a vanilla-type. It seems to stand for everything and yet nothing. Whether Mrs. Palin would make a good Presidential candidate, I don't know. But I'm weary to death of the clandestine people who mouth conservative rhetoric and then fold when the game is on. Give me a candidate who gives me a clear choice; not one who bows to the current political breeze blowing through Washington. I've just about lost all "Hope" because I don't see any on the horizon.

POPSThe Golden State - Nice Duets, Great Song John Doe & Kathleen Edwards have a studio version that's a bit more rockin' than this acoustic one, and in which Kathleen's voice is really special. But this is good, too. Eddie Vedder & partner do a good job with it as well.

POPSAn Obama speechwriter moves to Massachusetts...she can't afford health insurance An Obama speechwriter moves to Massachusetts, a state with "universal health care," and finds out she can't afford insurance. Turns out that individual mandates and the requirement that insurance cover everything for everybody make insurance super-expensive (exactly what some are warning will happen with ObamaCare.) It's like the saying goes, "If you think health care is expensive now, wait until it's free."

POPS Universal Health Care Mecca In the past, I paid attention to the health care debate as a speechwriter who prepared speeches, talking points, op-eds, and debate prep material on the topic at different times for John Edwards, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and others. Now, I'm paying attention because I'm a citizen up the creek without a paddle. Since I care more about my country than my personal pride, here's how I lost my insurance: I moved. That's right, I moved from Washington, D.C., back to Massachusetts, a state with universal health care. In D.C., I had a policy with a national company, an HMO, and surprisingly I was very happy with it. I had a fantastic primary care doctor at Georgetown University Hospital. As a self-employed writer, my premium was $225 a month, plus $10 for a dental discount. In Massachusetts, the cost for a similar plan is around $550, give or take a few dollars. My risk factors haven't changed. I didn't stop writing and become a stunt double. I don't smoke.

POPSUPDATE: Obama Blog Propaganda is Government-Wide of the Department of Justice, Holder and President Obama. One conservative editor recently told the Muffled Oar that they have noticed a significant increase in the number and aggressiveness of comments to stories critical of the Holder Justice Department. “There is clearly a designed effort to rebut stories that are exposing the Holder Justice Department as more political than the last. We’ve seen a change in the pattern of anonymous emails we receive and comments posted at our paper’s webpage.” One shivers at the thought of a team of Department of Justice Bloggers anonymously trolling the web to spin the message of a President. It is particularly terrifying when those same anonymous government employees at the Department attack media outlets and newspapers anonymously. How much longer before the Blog Squad operates in the open to intimidate political opponents and critics? Posted by Isaac Muzzey

POPSBeck speaks to 7,000 at Seattle.... I watch him rarely but I can identify with much of what he says. So which America will win?? John Edwards said there were two Americas. While the guy's a jerk, he got that part right. I really, really hope those that are proud of America and it's accomplishments (knowing that we can not please the enemies of democracy or those bent on tyranny) will continue to stand up to those in politics who want to make us "like other nations". While flawed...we're still the beacon.

POPSOops, He Did It Again: John Edwards Continues His Epic Fall From Grace This should be a lesson to everyone in Washington. Admit your role and your party's role in the corruption that is all around you. People are tired of being lied to and bill's being written by special interests that are shoved down our throats. Get rid of the deep seeded corruption around you and maybe the American people will actually re-elect you. Otherwise, it doesn't look too good for any incumbent. Now that the average American is paying attention, it will take more than sound bytes and large campaign funds. More than ever, accountability and integrity are required. It's time to come clean with the American People you are supposed to represent. Stepping down off my soap box now.

POPSObama's 2002 Speech In Chicago . . . . . and “heard the stories of fellow troops who first entered Auschwitz and Treblinka.” By Memorial Day 2008, however, Obama was claiming that it was his “uncle” who was “part of the first American troops to go into Auschwitz.” This proved problematic as well because Auschwitz, as the RNC pointed out, was actually liberated by the Russians. One would think Obama might have remembered this striking detail in 2002 when he attributed the liberation of Auschwitz to his grandfather’s “fellow troops.” As to why Obama opposed the war in Iraq six months before it began, there is some confusion. This point would have delighted the crowd at Chicago’s Federal Plaza in October 2002, if Obama had actually made it, but he did not. There, Obama made a more politic claim entirely, namely that Saddam “butchers his own people” and has “developed chemical and biological weapons and coveted nuclear capacity.”

POPSDoes Michelle Obama Have a Drinking Problem? Is alcohol rehab part of healthcare plan? But he also feels guilty because of the pictures taken of him drinking beer at an NBA game recently.” The President also feels he may have contributed to his wife’s alcohol issues by not stopping her from overindulging during their date night in New York City on May 30. Michelle, 45, knocked back “a glass or two of champagne” while the couple flew to the Big Apple on a private jet, according to the close source, and published reports said she downed two martinis during dinner at the Greenwich Village restaurant Blue Hill. “It was clear that Mrs. Obama was having a VERY good time,” a restaurant employee told The ENQUIRER. “There’s a real fear that she may be drinking more than she should as a result of the pressures that come along with being First Lady,” an insider divulged. It looks like “Last call” are the First Lady’s least favorite words. Source: NationalEnquirer.com

POPSDid Anti-Obama Campaign Contributions . . . . . . . Dictate Which Chrysler Dealers Were Shuttered? As an employee of one of the affected dealerships... First, this isn't just Chrysler's decision. They were forced into bankruptcy by President Obama. When Chrysler emerges from bankruptcy the Federal Government will be a junior partner in the new Chrysler. This is SOCIALISM! Wake up people! This isn't about business it's about politics and control. My dealership is in the top 125 out of the 3500 plus dealerships nationwide...yet we are on the list. We are not small nor are we rural. We are in a large major metropolitan area. Our new vehicle inventory alone is well over $4.0 million. Is that small? Secondly, Chrysler is already "shopping" for dealers to take over the open "points" (another name for franchise) left by the closed dealerships. Again, you think this is just business.

POPSObama suffers worst day in WH .... Can someone spell I-N-C-O-M-P-E-T-E-N-C-E? There are not two separate standards for Americans? Sure there is. You have been showing us along with your Party; remember John Edwards' remarks? "...trapped in the same old partisan gridlock."?? Good luck; but you are waaaaaaaay out of your league and don't have a clue, or the intelligence to know what to do or how to do it. You talk really well; but Mr. President, you are about to be run over by Congress and your own party and your own incompetence. :~( God help us.

POPS'Barack the Magic Negro' Derision, disrespect, division and hate are all the GOP have left. Saltsman was national campaign manager for former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee's presidential bid in 2007 and 2008. Before that, he held a variety of posts, including a number of positions under former Sen. Bill Frist of Tennessee.
