POPSAftermath of Iran Elections Iran 'disqualifies' EU from talks Britain has denied allegations of involvement in the Iranian riots The EU is no longer qualified to take part in talks on Iran's nuclear programme, Iran's military chief says. Maj-Gen Hassan Firouzabadi, Iran's chief of staff, accused the EU of "interference" in riots which followed June's disputed presidential elections. EU states, meanwhile, are considering withdrawing their ambassadors from Iran in a growing diplomatic row. Britain proposed the step after Iran detained nine of its embassy staff last week. Eight have since been released. The BBC's European affairs correspondent Oana Lungescu says senior officials from EU capitals will discuss the request in Stockholm on Thursday. But diplomats say that Germany and Italy - Iran's biggest trading partners in the EU - oppose it, arguing that channels of dialogue with Iran should be kept open.

POPSActivists protest bailouts near Wall Street Did not hear of any protest on Fox, CNN, or MSNBC. Also, nothing in NY Times or Wall Street Journal. After first learning of it via IReport on CNN I googled and found this report from Reuters of the protest on Friday NEAR Wall Street. Evidently the protesters were not allowed to protest within hearing distance of the very people they were protesting against. This is the state of our ‘right to protest’ controlled by the powers that be. The IReport covers an apparent second protest that occurred on Saturday Apr 4 ON Wall Street when Wall Street was closed. Guess they wanted to do it so they could have bragging rights that they actually protested on Wall Street. Here’s the IReport clip: http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-239743. Here’s a little more info on Bail Out the People website: http://www.bailoutpeople.org/

POPSCitizen Journalism And Steve Jobbs It is simply silly to decry "citizen journalism" because one "citizen journalist" got the story wrong, intentionally or otherwise. Actually, the term "citizen journalism" is silly. It is a way for big media to differentiate themselves from the "citizens". People say things on the street. People say things in their home, at work, on the train, and in email, Twitter and on their blogs. This is all information. The fact that it continues to be necessary to think about what you hear and run it through filters is no different for any information source. I certainly would never take a CNN, or Fox or MSNBC news story as gospel. Would you?
