POPSSniper in Iraq? There's an iphone app for that (via @vyadav) I originally read this in a clip posted earlier but couldn't resist Amplifying this particular piece. I suppose it shouldn't seem so odd to me, but the visual of an iphone being used by snipers to perfect their craft of shooting people just seems so crazy to me.

POPSWeb Conferencing Hits the iPhone » RHUB Blog Iphone – the feature rich device that has taken the world by storm has entered another arena, web meetings. According to news reports a new application was recently created for this popular smart phone that allows users to schedule online meetings and view meeting agenda among other features. The application was created by TimeBridge, a company that specializes in software for setting up and running meetings online. One of their more popular offerings issues a SMS reminder prior to when a scheduled meeting is about to start. This is known as the Meeting Time Messenger SMS notification tool. (This new application won’t be available until October and is currently going through Apple’s approval process.)

POPSNo Such Thing as Free Excellent excellent read / article. Especially that last couple of paragraphs regarding suggestions of hidden cost from cell phone companies legislation. Sounds good to me. Just ask yourself when you're shopping for a new cell phone: "Do you want an iPhone, or an HTC Hero and a 50-inch plasma TV?" LOL I LOVE IT!

POPSPerhaps the Coolest iPhone App Yet If you have an iPhone 3GS or Android device you can install the Layar app for free and then search for "recovery" or "sunlight" within Layar to find this layer. The layer works best near large cities where you are most likely to find recovery contracts, below is an example of what it looks like on the streets of Washington DC. This data is taken from the recovery.gov Where Is The Money Going? map which provides a KML file containing all recipient reported Contracts. As of October 30th this data will be updated with the final contract, grants, and loans. How We Made It If you're a developer you might be interested in how we made this. Fortunately Layar makes it quite easy and we've taken a further step to make it even easier if you're already using Django. http://sunlightlabs.com/blog/2009/recoverygov-contracts-your-phone/

POPSiPhone Apps for Republicans (Video) Very funny. Creative & smooth work. As the heavy darkness of the Bush years fades away I've see a lot of bright lights now able to shine (despite our sick, corrosive and toxic media and the rabid warmongers still howling in the night). Yup, a tide has slowly been changing, imo.

POPSShould there be a legal limit on the volume of our music? This is such a tough call. Like many people, i love listening to loud music on my iphone - some songs just get better and better the louder you make them. But the idea that so many of us are damaging our hearing as a result is upsetting. On the other hand, enjoying loud music is so good for the soul. I suppose like everything else in life, even the volume of our music needs to be enjoyed in moderation.
