POPS Suicide of the West? by Thomas Sowell
the idea of a "war on terror"-- as if that will stop the terrorists' war on us. The ostensible reason for releasing al-Megrahi was compassion for a man terminally ill. It is ironic that this was said in Scotland, for exactly 250 years ago another Scotsman-- Adam Smith-- said, "Mercy to the guilty is cruelty to the innocent." Tragically, those with this strange inversion of values include the Attorney General of the United States, Eric Holder. Although President Obama has said that he does not want to revisit the past, this is only the latest example of how his administration's actions are the direct opposite of his lofty words. It is not just a question of looking backward. The decision to second-guess CIA agents who extracted information to save American lives is even worse when you look forward. This is not simply an injustice to those who have tried to keep this country safe, it is a danger recklessly imposed on future Americans whose safety cannot always be guaranteed

POPSElites Plan to Expand Their Power Believe it or not, it gets worse. The senator goes on to say, "You need a tough, strong regulator, unified—no holes in the system— who sees the problem ahead of time, so they have complete transparency, they know exactly what's going on". In Schumer's dream world the government gets to know everything that private companies are doing, "no holes in the system ", while the same "tough, strong regulator, unified" gets to operate in secret! Transparency will only apply to the private sector, not the government. The real reason for regulation is now nakedly revealed. It's not about protecting the people, it's about controlling them. As Ayn Rand wrote, "We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force."

POPSTop 15 Most Amazing Houses in the World Little boxes on the hillside aren’t for everyone. While some people might be content with a cookie-cutter home in a bland suburban neighborhood, others create truly one-of-a-kind homes with incredibly imaginative shapes and materials.

POPSThe Seat of Bigotry Ms. Phillips evidently doesn't engage her brain before putting her mouth in motion. Her hate filled diatribe is more suited to the middle of the last century than today's reality. Unfortunately, her sentiment is rather common. If one substitutes Jew or Muslim or Black or any other non-Christian minority for atheist it immediately becomes apparent that she is a bigoted, angry person in search of a scapegoat. Given that near 85% of Americans are Christian, her blaming the 12% for all the problems society faces is ludicrous and is indicative of profound projection on her part. Her spew sounds like it was transcribed from a speech recorded in 1930s Germany, not 21st century America. Really sad.

POPSEgalitarian Orthodoxy: “Noble Fiction”—Or Noxious Poison? A number of studies have shown Jewish people have a higher average IQ than non-Jewish whites (109-115 average for Jewish folks, versus 100-103 for non-Jewish whites). The Hitlerites falsely claimed Aryans were just as smart, or, bizarrely, smarter than Jews, and the reason there were a disproportionate number of Jewish lawyers, physicians, journalists, etc., was because of Jews banding together and discriminating against non-Jews, rather than outcomes entirely deserved. Inversion of the truth on IQ differences helped cause hatred and the most monstrous violence the world has ever seen. Today, similar lies are again stoking hatred against Jewish and other whites, and against north Asians as well.

POPSAmbigrams-You don't know which way to look Sometimes words can make you dizzy. While I was making this clip, with reference to Bach, I wondered if anyone has, or will, compose music, or maybe even a song, that sounds the same when played in reverse. Now we have the technology.

POPSOrwellian inversion of values and facts: US-American and Israeli conservatives' mind-lock
Observers of Israel and its influence within the United States see a long trend toward ideological convergence between the two nations, especially in foreign policy, war, economics, and propaganda. One of the little-noted fundamentals of this growing affinity is a mutual and increasing need and desire to justify unjustifiable acts and obscure incriminating truths. Self-defense = Aggression Security = Promotion of insecurity Freedom = Denial of freedom Democracy = Apartheid Religious freedom = Religious exclusivity Prosperity = Poverty Legality = Lawlessness Peace = Continual war Peacemaking = Democracy = Unconstitutional oligarchy, collective punishment, and civil strife = Illegitimacy and probable failure of any agreements reached between Israel and its partners = Continual (land-grabbing) war. The public’s acceptance of these inversions creates what McMurtry calls an “occupation of consciousness” .

POPSNeo Cons Warp the Meaning of Academic Freedom I was harassed by a neo-con student when I was a professor. She kept changing the subject from actual class material. The first day she talked about prayer in school (not a topic covered in this course), when I was trying to just go over the syllabus. Most frustrating, she had zero critical thinking skills, dominated the class, and angered the other students.

POPSTed Rall depicts American Soldier as Suicide Bomber It's a moral inversion. But it's sickening that it's not coming out of an Islamic country, it's being done by someone who apparently just shares their hatred of America with the guys who put on bomb jackets and die for allah. This is a good example of moral relativism. When the Al Qaeda torture manual came out at the smoking gun, there wasn't a peep from the MSM. And that stuff was pretty rough.

POPSEU: Israel "the greatest threat" to world peace. A 2003 survey found Europeans seeing Israel as "the greatest threat" to world peace. How did this insane inversion of reality - the Middle East's only fully free and democratic country seen as the leading global menace - come to be?

POPSHuman Brain Has Origin in Lowly Worm Aha! We came from worms and bugs! I thought we came from monkeys? No, we came from God. Hmm... some say we came from ancient aliens and some say that we just are, no reason. Some even say that we aren't here at all, that life is just an illusion... I just love multiple choice questions. .:)
