POPSestablished in the belief that our Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates should represent th This site was established in the belief that our Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates should represent the best that we can be. The United States, the home of the brave, of innovation, of invention should be run by candidates who exemplify our ideals, our potential, and yes, even our hopes. Our entire team is committed to having a fruitful and vivacious discussion about whether or not a Governor from Alaska, who before Labor Day Weekend 2008 was only associated with questionable ethics and moose hunting, is up to the task of running the free world. As a result, we've compiled all that we could get our hands on and find new things every hour. Seriously. Please go to our In The News to open the doors to Local, National & Internationl News. We would welcome your input...on both sides of the aisle.

POPS"Einstein Fridge . ."
Now Malcolm McCulloch, an electrical engineer at Oxford who works on green technologies, is leading a three-year project to develop more robust appliances that can be used in places without electricity. Einstein refrigerator His team has completed a prototype of a type of fridge patented in 1930 by Einstein and his colleague, the Hungarian physicist Leo Szilard. It had no moving parts and used only pressurised gases to keep things cold. The design was partly used in the first domestic refrigerators, but the technology was abandoned when more efficient compressors became popular in the 1950s. That meant a switch to using freons. Einstein and Szilard's idea avoids the need for freons. It uses ammonia, butane and water and takes advantage of the fact that liquids boil at lower temperatures when the air pressure around them is lower. 'If you go to the top of Mount Everest, water boils at a much lower temperature than it does when you're at sea level and that's because the pressure i

POPSSteve Jobs didn't invent the iPod? A hoax? A British citizen, Kane Kramer, now lays claim to the invention; he claims he did so back in 1979. In reading the pdf document, it seems like something feasible only with the internet, which was only available en mass since the early 1990s (so his central server idea holds no water with me). I am calling this a hoax.

POPSRock Hall will honor music innovator Les Paul In 1952, Gibson introduced the Les Paul model, which became the instrument of choice for musicians such as Duane Allman, Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page. "It's not just his innovation and his musical playing, but sort of the residual effects of that guitar," Stewart said. "It's become the beginning point for so many people in music, particularly rock music." Paul still performs weekly at the Iridium Jazz Club in New York City. He was inducted into the early influence category of the Rock Hall in 1988. Paul is only the second living recipient of the annual American Music Masters award, which began in 1996 to pay tribute to artists who helped change American culture. Jerry Lee Lewis was the first living recipient in 2007. Past recipients include Woody Guthrie, Muddy Waters and Sam Cooke.
