'Pull My Finger' subject of court fight
ofcapri
by ofcapri  2-17-2009    2
Air-o-Matic says its app, "Pull My Finger" has a unique brand identity that its competitor has infringed. It wants $50,000 from Infomedia to settle the dispute and may sue in federal court. In a formal complaint filed in a Denver, Colorado, federal court, however, InfoMedia says the phrase is a common "descriptive" term used in its advertising and cannot be trademarked. The company wants a judge to step in now, before any lawsuit is filed, and allow it to continue to use the phrase.

People power transforms the web in next online revolution
haraya
by haraya  4-9-2008    2
Watching 'I Love Bees' unfold is a bit like being in Detroit in 1905 when Henry Ford was still experimenting with mass production. A new organisational possibility is unfolding before our eyes. Where might We Think culture take us? We are just at the start of exploring how we can be organised without the hierarchy of top-down organisations. There will be many false turns and failures. But there is also huge potential to create new stores of knowledge to the benefit of all, innovate more effectively, strengthen democracy and give more people the opportunity to make the most of their creativity. The motto of the generation growing up with the collaborative logic of the web is not the solitary 'I think, therefore I am', it is be the social 'We think, therefore we are'.

merrie
by merrie  10-15-2007    10
Under Google’s trademark policy, owners can request that third parties’ not be allowed to use their trademarked term in the text of ads — a policy that far exceeds the requirements of trademark law. Lindenauer says that MoveOn.org withdrew from that policy on Friday after it heard about the brewing controversy over Google’s termination of Collins’ text ads using the group’s name.

Web Ad Blocking May Not Be Legal
Marcariel
by Marcariel  9-14-2007
I use the Firefox browser exclusively, and love the ad blocking feature. I have seen several people's pages on MySpace that have the ad from the editing page blocking the function buttons on their page. My daughter and granddaughter both remove these gaudy, large ad banners when the are designing or editing their pages. When I used to record on a VCR from the Local TV stations, I was one of those who stopped to edit out the commercials. It is so aggravating to watch commercial TV and have the program or movie stop every 15 minutes for 5 minutes of mostly vapid, inane commercials. So ... I guess I'm a law breaker! (LOL ... I'm sticking with my '60's rebel image xp)

Are You Making Yourself Sick?
DizzyDezzi
by DizzyDezzi  2-18-2007    1
This reminds me of a friend of mine who seems to have Munchausen Syndrome. Whatever the latest illness that a woman can get, she "gets/catches it" and of course, the latest drug "cures it". But, she's always well enough to go shopping or go partying...she is the healthiest looking sick person that I know. If she comes down with this "illness" that will just solidify the fact that she is full of ummm...you know.

It never ceases to amaze me how so many people find it challenging to destroy a good thing. The introduction of the www was meant to expand the universe and connect people. Not destroy and create havoc. The net has become a hacker and spammer's virtual world of mass destruction. OMG. I can't believe I just said that!! :))
