POPSHave you found your soul place? Richard Ford, Pulitzer Prize winning author, was born and raised in Jackson, MS. His wife’s job as a city planner took them to many cities but when they moved to New Orleans, Ford said he had “an instantaneous recognition.”Even now, living in Maine, he considers New Orleans home. Often we are inspired to build monuments on these sacred grounds: pyramids, cities, stone circles, churches, mosques. Whatever caused our ancestors to pilgrimage to these spots, it is still drawing us as well. Perhaps the earthy taste of freshly squeezed olive oil, never before experienced, causes you to feel as one with the rocky landscape of a Greek island. No matter the reason, we are inexplicably attracted to locations and feel a connection that we cannot readily explain. In their special issue on Sacred Places, U.S. News and World Report states that that these spots are “as varied as the human sense of the sacred and as various as the world’s spiritual traditions.”

POPSDress-Like-a-Whore Day? I remember egoldstein saying something about this before. I still wouldn't trade a great Wonder Woman costume for anything. I like men who know their comic books. :)

POPSWhat Does The Red Dot On The Forehead Mean ? Worship of intellect is trusting your own intellect AND other's intellect, especially in the fields you do not have enough knowledge. Intellectual honesty and its worship have been corner stones of Hindu thought. 'Fully THINK (ponder) on what I said and then do as YOU deem fit'. Indian scriptures ask 'Drushtipootam nyasetpaadam, vastra pootam pibet jalam' - Look (think) before you leap (embark on any activity) and 'filter the water with a cloth before you drink'. Kathopanashad calls intellect as the charioteer. Body is a chariot, Indriyas (sense/connotative organs) are horses, mind is the reins to be used to control them, Atman (Self) is the rider within, and Vishay (objects of senses) are the tracks on which horses run. It asks us to overcome the ego, be selfless, yet asks to do all actions/ work/ worship with intellect.

POPSMei Langfang last pic is from the biopic, just released, of director Chen Kaige ("Farewell My Concubine"). "Mei Lanfang is well-known for his contribution to Peking Opera," Chen Kaige said, "But I'm more interested in his inner charm, the grit he displayed during wartime and his life-long pursuit of beauty."

POPS Albert Einstein Quotes on Life more: "What is the meaning of human life, or, for that matter, of the life of any creature? To know an answer to this question means to be religious. You ask: Does it make any sense, then, to pose this question? I answer: The man who regards his own life and that of his fellow creatures as meaningless is not merely unhappy but hardly fit for life." - Mein Weltbild, Amsterdam: Querido Verlag, 1934. "So I am living without fats, without meat, without fish, but am feeling quite well this way. It always seems to me that man was not born to be a carnivore." but he also said: "I have always eaten animal flesh with a somewhat guilty conscience."

POPSInside Art - Doctors and researchers regularly rely on CT scanners to create images of body parts like brains, chests and knees. But an artist-turned-medical-student in Manhattan is using one such machine to peer into the meat and guts of cultural icons like the Big Mac, the Barbie and the iPhone, creating whimsical and occasionally creepy images.

POPSSaudi girl crowned Miss Moral Beauty This is absolutely nuts. So let me get this straight, those who did not win this competition and those who don't cover their face qualify for the title of miss immoral ugliness? How is participating in a beauty pageant represents modesty or morality and why add to social pressures of labeling or shaming. You can never judge inner beauty through interviews or how you are viewed in society. Arabs needs to have their heads examined.

POPSMy Fountain; My Friend There is something more deeper and important than what we can see or touch. Our eyes cannot see what is truly important. It must be helped by the heart. Only the heart can see hope in suffering, and beauty in a world that seems to be so ugly. I clipped this for someone in whom I easily see the the kindness and inner beauty. Shine on.

POPSQuotes from Albert Einstein! nice and more! Gravitation cannot be held responsible for people falling in love. How on earth can you explain in terms of chemistry and physics so important a biological phenomenon as first love? Put your hand on a stove for a minute and it seems like an hour. Sit with that special girl for an hour and it seems like a minute. That's relativity.

POPSDancing through the "o" in God! Outer world is also tree root and river rock, anthill and cloud. At some point the distinction between inner world and outer world itself dissolves. Years ago I worked with a dance teacher who took us outside to dance under the sky, and we discovered that dancing outside is a special ecstasy, to dance in and with nature. One night she invited us to dance through the o in God. Another night she said we usually assume the soul is a tiny element somewhere inside the body, a bright light in the mind or in the heart. What if the soul is big, bigger than the body, and the body rests inside the soul? As we dance through space, extending feet, hands, elbows, ribs, we are brushing up against our soul, moving in an energetic circle that is our soul. The body inside the soul! Everything turns inside out. The soul becomes as immense as the sky. Dancing with each other, we are moving together in this soulful air.
