POPS Economic Stimulation I’m a little late to today’s economic-stimulus exasperation party. Sorry. I was busy working at my unstimulated private-sector job, which uses pulp, ink, trucks, pens, notebooks and a lot of eletronics plus electricity and employs hundreds of taxpayers directly and indirectly to tell people how the hacks are trying to shaft them in Boston. It was great. I enjoyed it. Even though, far from looking for or getting any support, we’ve had to fight the government over simple things like the freedom to enter business relationships with other news organizations that might have made us more financially viable. Thank you, Ted Kennedy, liberal lion.

POPSElectronic Waste - A Call For Change It goes deeper into the way electronic gadgets are manufactured. People have noticed this for a long while but no one had/has done anything to change the real cause of this problem. No one questions why a perfectly good TV, stereo, printer etc has to get thrown away because a very minor part no longer functions and manufacturers make it more expensive to buy the replacement part that would fix it. So, it works out cheaper for people to throw it out and buy a new one. Everyone knows this, but why is this allowed to continue. Printers are soooo cheap, but the ink to refill is expensive. It is cheaper to use the printer once, throw it out and buy a new one compared to replacing the ink. The list goes on... Doesn't this have to change??? Isn't this the real culprit???

POPSRandom Thoughts One good turn gets most of the blankets. There are two kinds of pedestrians -- the quick and the dead. If quitters never win, and winners never cheat, then who is the fool who said "Quit while you're ahead"? Marriage is the triumph of imagination over intelligence. Second marriage is the triumph of hope over experience. I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. What happens if you get scared half to death twice? Multitasking: Screwing up several things at once. Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.

POPS NYTimes Declares Fox News Winner! After discussing past Presidents who unsuccessfully fought the press, Carr first scolded the White House, and then declared an unpredictable winner: Even though almost all the critiques contained a kernel of truth, in each instance the folks who had the barrels of ink, and now pixels, seemed to come out ahead. So far, the only winner in this latest dispute seems to be Fox News. Ratings are up 20 percent this year, and the network basked for a week in the antagonism of a sitting president... he administration, by deploying official resources against a troublesome media organization, seems to have brought a knife to a gunfight. Carr seemed even less impressed with the tactics the Adminstration has been employing in this battle: On the official White House Web site, a blog called Reality Check provides a running tally of transgressions by Fox News. It ends with this: "For even more Fox lies, check out the latest ‘Truth-O-Meter' . . .

POPSWhy Google bought reCAPTCHA (you'll never guess this) I had no idea that the collective entries people made were self - validating and educating computers on what the letters were...that makes reCAPTCHA about 100x more innovative than i ever realized it to be. For anyone who doesn't know, ReCAPTCHA is the thing you have probably seen many times when you sign up for a new service - when you're asked to enter the scribbled letters in a box.

POPSA Fake 9-12 Rally Photo to overestimate DC crowd. What else would Glenn Beck and his followers do but produce a fake photo of the 9-12 crowd in DC. Lying is a way of life for these jokers. Why stop now? The problem is, since their zombies hang on every lie they come up with... They are starting to believe the rest of us can be so easily duped as well... Silly Boys.

POPSObama Takes on Glenn Beck and ‘Tea Party’ Critics Over Healthcare
Then the President boarded Air Force One for a quick trip to Minneapolis for a rally on health insurance reform. Meanwhile, back in Washington Beck was broadcasting live on the Fox News Channel as part of something he’s dubbed “The 9-12 Project.” The occasion was a “tea party” march and rally organized by “FreedomWorks” to protest the “irresponsible government takeover of our nation’s healthcare, devastating new energy taxes, and trillions of dollars in red ink.” The video can be viewed online at www.whitehouse.gov. Read more at CSMonitor.com Excerpt follows: On his Saturday morning radio and YouTube broadcast, Obama spoke of “an anxiety that’s keeping more and more Americans awake at night.” “Over the last twelve months, nearly six million more Americans lost their health coverage " that’s 17,000 men and women every single day. We’re not just talking about Americans in poverty, either " we’re talking about middle-class Americans.

POPSReasonable Questions For Unreasonable Times
- Why are citizens mocked and laughed at when they ask their congressman to read the bills before they vote on them? - Was the cash-for-clunkers program meant to save the earth or the economy? Did it accomplish either? - How did Van Jones, a self-proclaimed communist become a special advisor to the president? - Did President Obama know of Van Jones’ radical political beliefs when he named him special advisor? - The Apollo Alliance claimed credit for writing the stimulus bill"why was this group allowed to write any portion of this bill? - If politicians aren’t writing the bills and aren’t reading the bills, do they have any idea what these 1000 page plus bills actually impose on the American people? - If the ‘public option’ health care plan is so good why won’t politicians agree to have that as their plan? - If town hall meetings are intended for the politicians to learn what’s on our mind"why do they spend so much time talking instead of listening?

POPSObama’s Well Organized Community Is Falling Apart "Who spends an obscene $1 Billion dollars to win a lousy $400,000 per year job, and why? The people behind Obama expect a return on their investment. And they are NOT the kind of folks you want to disappoint… These folks make Capone look like a choir boy. Before the ink was dry on Obama’s fake Certification of Live Birth (not to be confused with an actual birth certificate), Obamanation was off to confiscate control of banking, insurance, energy and auto manufacturing. Before they knew what was happening, the American people woke up the proud new owner of Government Motors and $13 Trillion in debt. But it wasn’t until Obamanation tried to confiscate control of 1/7th of the US economy by nationalizing the private American health care industry that the people took to the streets in protest." POPSBrain mechanisms for behavioral flexibility "We hypothesize that single neurons probably cannot switch outputs in a short period of time, so the brain realizes behavioral flexibility by preparing separate pathways for each task through learning, and then chooses the appropriate pathways, rather than switching outputs, in a given trial." That statement would indicate the possibility that our brains increase in plasticity and flexbility via learning
