POPSMajor Malik Nadal Hasan.......But First A “Shout Out” to Obama’s Bud No reason I can’t go golfing, shoot some hoops, and hit the town with Michelle. President Bush used to break into tears when addressing soldiers and was reviled as a stone-hearted warmonger; Donald Rumsfeld was demonized for using a machine to sign notification letters to fallen soldiers’s next-of-kin. President Obama gives out rounds of virtual fist-bumps to his buds before even mentioning a slaughter of American soldiers, perpetrated by Americans, in mid-America. We desperately need an adult in the White House. Sadly, today’s press conference proves we do not have one. (Incidentally, the shooter " who killed 12 people with two handguns " is reportedly an adherent of the Religion of Peace who was incensed about being sent to war.)

POPSMahatma Gandhi and Margaret Sanger "In January of 1936, a meeting took place between Mohandas Gandhi and Margaret Sanger . The subject of their conversation that day was contraception. Mrs. Sanger was, at that time, the archpriestess of the birth control movement in the United States . For her, as well as for her legion of followers, "birth control" meant contraception. Gandhi had a different understanding of birth control. For him it meant self-control."

POPSVeteran psychiatrist calls liberals mentally ill "Dr. Rossiter says the liberal agenda preys on weakness and feelings of inferiority in the population by: * creating and reinforcing perceptions of victimization; * satisfying infantile claims to entitlement, indulgence and compensation; * augmenting primitive feelings of envy; * rejecting the sovereignty of the individual, subordinating him to the will of the government. "The roots of liberalism – and its associated madness – can be clearly identified by understanding how children develop from infancy to adulthood and how distorted development produces the irrational beliefs of the liberal mind," he says. "When the modern liberal mind whines about imaginary victims, rages against imaginary villains and seeks above all else to run the lives of persons competent to run their own lives, the neurosis of the liberal mind becomes painfully obvious."

POPSLeft in Dark Times, Bernard-Henri Lévy Maybe the most important book of our time! I think I will move this to the top of my list MORE: The neoprogressives believe "liberalism is the source all the planet's evils," Lévy writes (p. 90), so they must declare innocent those Third World despots who "meddle with their citizens and treat them like cattle," because in the neoprogressive dogma "the System, and the System alone, bears full responsibility." They reject that the great revolutions, including the British and the American, were explicitly liberal, and used liberal thought in their struggle against absolutism (p. 92). The liberal market-based republics can more easily be portrayed as Evil, when liberty, which might be thought their finest aspect, disappears from view.

POPSmichael jackson he will be missed. i hope the world will be kind to his memory, and choose to remember the good, not the accusations that were never proved, and the weirdness of his last years. i never once believed that it was in him to harm children, for he was a child himself inside.

POPSFoods of Love - Food as Aphrodisiacs • Puffer Fish: considered both a delicacy and an aphrodisiac in Japan. If the poisonous gland is not properly removed, the tiniest taste is deadly. The flirt with death is said to give a sexual thrill. Not recommended.

POPS A Statement from the Speaker of the House Had I known the real truth -- that they were describing the grim tools of a sadistic torture regime beyond the worst imaginings of Mengele himself -- I would have vigorously objected, and would have never cheerfully told my briefers, "play safely!" I am sorry for any confusion my earlier statements might have caused, and I hope this clarification puts the matter to rest. For future reference, please direct inquiries regarding torture issues within the California 8th District B&D community to my outreach coordinator Julian Julian Julian. All other torture-related issues should be directed to my National Security and Drag Queen Affairs Advisor, Lady Marmalade. Sincerely, Nancy Pelosi Speaker of the House of Representatives

POPS8 Inspirational Older People In 1992, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors declared August 25 "Brownie Mary Day." "My kids need this and I'm ready to go to jail for my principles... I'm not going to cut any deals with them. If I go to jail, I go to jail," she once said. She was named a "Living Saint" in 1994 at the San Francisco Saints Alive Benefit. In 1997 the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence dubbed her "Saint Brownie Fucking Mary" at Mary's request as she was a lifelong atheist. Mary was also included in the Sisters' Nuns of the Above AIDS Memorial Quilt for her work with and advocating for people with AIDS. Brownie Mary died of a heart attack at a Laguna Honda nursing home for the poor at age 77.

POPSLiving well with stress "So the moment you feel most "deer in the headlights" about your survival is the moment that you most need but are least likely to engage in activities such as a long walk, dancing in the living room, playing with a puppy or child, or reading inspirational ideas to counteract the survival response and jump-start our nonetheless critical 'luxury functions'."

POPSFormer Bush Speechwriter Fires Shot in GOP Civil War That's David Frum, author of Bush's "axis of evil" line. He's absolutely right -- it's not in Limbaugh's best interests that the GOP do well. Limbaugh is also an egotist who'll rise to the bait every time the Democrats criticize him. He's guaranteed to do exactly what dems want him to by virtue of being reactionary. In this way, he does become the leader of the Republican party, because he keeps putting himself in that position. Having Rush Limbaugh -- a race-baiting, narrow-minded, hypocritical demagogue -- as the face of the party can only help Democrats. And, since elected Republicans are terrified of him, there's nothing the GOP can do about it.

POPSWhat if SNL Mocked Michelle (hate America) Obama With complete media bias assisting ZerObama's election efforts, with hundreds of millions illegally coming in from overseas (Arab) sources, isn't it amazing the Wonder Boy isn't ahead by 20 or 30 points? The race is tied because Americans are coming to realize His Holiness is selling snake oil.

POPSUncaging my joy I decided last week that I would like to live more generously. I find that I clutch things (my money, my time, my love) too closely to my breast, and this is from fear. My fear cripples my joy. I am going to uncage my joy.

POPSTravel Photography: What to take in your kit? • Tripod - I tend not to travel with a tripod or monopod these days ...Instead if shooting in low light I tend to find fence posts, use my camera bag or find other stationary objects along the way to support the weight of the camera. Some use the mini tripods that are all the rage these days, but they tend to be best with lighter point and shoot cameras than larger and heavier DSLRs. • Point and Shoot - some DSLR users back a compact point and shoot camera as well. This is for those nights when they hit the town and don’t want to haul all their gear around with them but want to record the night. This is a bit of a luxury and indulgence really but if you’ve got the camera and want the flexibility - why not?

POPSWeather Or Not, We're Still Doomed.....Whatever James Overland of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration claims that an ozone hole over the Antarctic is masking conditions there, keeping temperatures low. Later the ozone hole will close up, so we're still doomed. Gareth Marshall of the British Antarctic Survey floats this one: climate change causes Antarctic winds to blow harder, trapping colder air. But this will decrease at an undisclosed future date, so we're still doomed. Gabbles Marshall: The tea leaves point to a minimal amount of sea ice next September, that would be the same as we had last summer, 40 percent loss compared to 20 years ago. At least tea leaves are an improvement over the phony computer models they've been using to find their predetermined results. On a tip from hiram13pm. Posted by Van Helsing
