POPSDo you feel like an imposter? This is a belief that is much more common but it is not something commonly talked about. Telling others about your inner critic doesn’t engender a lot of confidence from employers or even friends and family. If you struggle with this issue, here are some ways to manage your inner critic instead of it managing you.

POPSA Quiet End for the Boys Choir of Harlem I used this video because it was the only one I could find that had decent focus on the kids actually singing. The always stunning and stellar Kathleen Battle is a fabulous bonus. From what I've read, the ending of this wonderful, world renowned choir came about as a combined result of the death of its founder, Dr. Turnbull, a scandal involving sexual abuse of one of the kids by a counselor and difficulties with the IRS. Who pays the penalties for all this mess? Why, the kids, of course. They do the work, they inspire the people, they bring beauty into the world and in the end, they pay the price for adult incompetence, cupidity and political games. What a world!

POPSErrare humanum est (I) "El hombre es el único animal que tropieza dos veces con la misma piedra." or "The human is the only animal that trips twice over the same stone." Since some stones seem to be part of the human nature it may be the case that tripping over them is the norm, on innumerable occasions, even if you know about the stone, check Hofstadter's law, for instance.

POPSThe GOP's Fatally Bad Judgement As if choosing Bush TWICE was not bad enough, especially after 9/11 and his close ties to the terrorist's family (google Arbusto Energy, if you are clueless), wars, huge deficits, and overall incompetence, now they are looking to Huckabee!? Will they never learn?

POPSStimulus Dollars, TARP Funds, And A Flu Shot Fiasco
So where is the “stimulus” money? What happened to that crucial $787 billion that President Obama had to spend, to “get the economy rolling again?” We are told that only a portion of the money has been spent thus far, yet the Obama Administration has taken legal steps to prevent Obama’s “recovery czars” from being questioned about the money by Congress. Recklessness and incompetence of this magnitude, with such enormous amounts of other people’s money, would be grounds for immediate termination among private sector executives and managers. And the problem doesn’t begin and end with Democrats: recall that the $700 million “TARP” program was created by Republican President George W Bush last year, and Bush himself was the first to violate the intended purposes of the program by handing-over nearly $14 billion in loans to Chrysler and G.M. (Obama continued doing this after he took office, until the two companies met their inevitable fate of bankruptcy).

POPSCDC Massive Misinformation Campaign: Error Rate Up To 97% Back then, the media was all over the shortage and the incompetence it exposed. Once again, the vast majority of the vaccine will have been made available too late to have any significant impact on the spread of the disease. Whether it will have any impact on the public’s perception of the government’s competency to control health care is a matter of speculation, entirely, but it seems liable not to help. And that is perhaps why Obama determined that this is the moment in which it was most propitious to declare an emergency, so that when the epidemic ends he can recycle his rhetoric regarding jobs created or saved. Whether the administration will use the declared state of emergency to stifle the babblings of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan remains to be seen. Likely the decision will be made by CDC poobah Eric Holder.

POPSHalf a president The context of the article is the difference between a monarchy and a democracy and that Obama views himself as a 'head of state' rather than a President. The article mentions the traditional criticisms of the US by Europe but they also recognize their need for strong, dependable leadership in America...and they know it's not here.

POPSMedia Dozes While Social Security Is On The Verge of Negative Cash Flow Morrissey points out that the report lays bare the fundamental incompetence and/or dishonesty earlier this year of Peter Orszag, President Obama’s Director of the Office of Management and Budget: …. Democrats wanted analysis that allowed them to ignore the problems in Social Security, and Orszag was happy to supply them. Douglas Elmendorf has had to right the ship at CBO while Orszag continues to blow his predictions at OMB, most notably in overall deficit projections, which Orszag had to admit were off by more than 40% and $2.2 trillion over the next ten years. Of course, they were helped along by a complacent media unwilling to do math, and a host of apologists for the Left. …. The situation at Social Security is much worse than this administration and Democrats in Congress want to admit. They want to continue busting the deficit and creating new entitlements while the existing ones careen towards collapse.

POPSTeachers' Unions Are Not Helping Your Kids An excellent review of an article by a self-avowed liberal who was shocked to learn how bad the school system actually was, and how much money was being spent on "teachers" who weren't actually teaching -- all promoted by the Teachers' Union. Finally, a brief review of the voucher program in Wash. DC, and a suggestion, by that same liberal journalist, that it be given a chance to work because otherwise the outcomes for some kids was "too bleak".

POPSFailure Accompli loyal Democrats a distant third. And it will prove that the Democratic Party is institutionally incapable of delivering on its most significant promises. You have to assume that on some level Congress understands this " which is why you also have to assume that some kind of legislation will eventually pass. If it doesn’t, President Obama will have been defeated. But it’s the party, not the president, that will have failed. OK, I get the point. He’s damning Obama with the faint praise due a cipher while mocking the Dems’ inability to govern. As he says, health care is their signature issue. And as we’ve observed previously, they have trouble advancing anything they feel deeply about that doesn’t involve a lot of pork. But cipher or not, Obama is also the president of a one-party government, and if his party can’t govern, he doesn’t get off that easy. He still gets to be a failure and is the one who will ultimately wear it.

POPSThe GOP’s Misplaced Rage To a large extent, Obama is only cleaning up messes created by Bush. This is not to say Obama hasn’t made mistakes himself, but even they can be blamed on Bush insofar as Bush’s incompetence led to the election of a Democrat. If he had done half as good a job as most Republicans have talked themselves into believing he did, McCain would have won easily. According to the National Bureau of Economic Research, the recession began in December 2007—long before Obama was even nominated.

POPSIs Obama Really Like the Joker? Why so capitalist? "The Joker seemed chaotic but was very careful in his planning, while the chaos from the Obama administration seems much more explainable by pure incompetence."

POPSGov't Failure Kills Ancient Redwoods Don't buy the government's lies about the fire being good for the redwoods. This was a high-intensity destructive fire, and although the forest will recover, it will be nearly 2,000 years before the trees are fully "replaced," assuming climate change and/or other factors, like more fires, do not destroy the rest of the redwoods.

POPSSiren falling on deaf ears Ther internet has been awash with erudite pieces and condemnation of ineptitude and incompetence by the British government, yet a vocal minority of pinkoe activists and blatant liars have held a once great nation to ransom. Call a puffter a name and you are sent to jail. Demand the rightsd of brave Britons to defend themselves and you are outcast and demonised. Come home a phyical wreck and you are worth a passing remark by Broon and his falacious brood. Come home in a pine box and only the wonderful people of Wooton Basset will give you the welcome you deserve. No wonder our kith and kin in Canada and Antipodes emigrated. Nothing is being said about the Christians being burned alive today in India by their Muslim neighbours. What a wonderful world.

POPSShould Trees Obtain Legal Status in the Courts?
Sadly, we’ve had this kind of nonsense influencing our government at high levels for decades; it just hasn’t been as bold and clear as we now see it in John Holdren. Dr. Michael Engor has an open letter to President Obama published at the Discovery Institute today. Michael Egnor, M.D. is a professor of neurosurgery and pediatrics at State University of New York, Stony Brook and an award-winning brain surgeon who has been named one of New York’s best doctors by New York Magazine. Dr. Engor says, among other things, Despite his strong scientific credentials, he advanced theories in the 1970’s and 1980’s that have become the paradigm of ideologically motivated junk science. He and his collaborators (such as co-author Paul Ehrlich) predicted world-wide famine as a consequence of over-population by the late 20th century, and they advocated radical coercive public policies to avert catastrophe. These predictions were explicit, public, and were published under . . . . .

POPSA Change In Customer Service I post this video because it would good to see a change of attitude in many industries. I for one think of the phone/internet provider I currently use - which falls down dismally in its handling of customer queries which then turn into complaints because they don't fix it the first time. Talking to voice recordings and being transferred around the company for a full day (not just once but on a number of occassions) constitutes incompetence (at least for me). Though the service itself is brilliant.
