CDC Massive Misinformation Campaign: Error Rate Up To 97%
merrie
by merrie  10-26-2009    1
Back then, the media was all over the shortage and the incompetence it exposed. Once again, the vast majority of the vaccine will have been made available too late to have any significant impact on the spread of the disease. Whether it will have any impact on the public’s perception of the government’s competency to control health care is a matter of speculation, entirely, but it seems liable not to help. And that is perhaps why Obama determined that this is the moment in which it was most propitious to declare an emergency, so that when the epidemic ends he can recycle his rhetoric regarding jobs created or saved. Whether the administration will use the declared state of emergency to stifle the babblings of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan remains to be seen. Likely the decision will be made by CDC poobah Eric Holder.

The context of the article is the difference between a monarchy and a democracy and that Obama views himself as a 'head of state' rather than a President. The article mentions the traditional criticisms of the US by Europe but they also recognize their need for strong, dependable leadership in America...and they know it's not here.

Media Dozes While Social Security Is On The Verge of Negative Cash Flow
merrie
by merrie  9-23-2009    1
Morrissey points out that the report lays bare the fundamental incompetence and/or dishonesty earlier this year of Peter Orszag, President Obama’s Director of the Office of Management and Budget: …. Democrats wanted analysis that allowed them to ignore the problems in Social Security, and Orszag was happy to supply them. Douglas Elmendorf has had to right the ship at CBO while Orszag continues to blow his predictions at OMB, most notably in overall deficit projections, which Orszag had to admit were off by more than 40% and $2.2 trillion over the next ten years. Of course, they were helped along by a complacent media unwilling to do math, and a host of apologists for the Left. …. The situation at Social Security is much worse than this administration and Democrats in Congress want to admit. They want to continue busting the deficit and creating new entitlements while the existing ones careen towards collapse.

Failure Accompli

loyal Democrats a distant third. And it will prove that the Democratic Party is institutionally incapable of delivering on its most significant promises. You have to assume that on some level Congress understands this " which is why you also have to assume that some kind of legislation will eventually pass. If it doesn’t, President Obama will have been defeated. But it’s the party, not the president, that will have failed. OK, I get the point. He’s damning Obama with the faint praise due a cipher while mocking the Dems’ inability to govern. As he says, health care is their signature issue. And as we’ve observed previously, they have trouble advancing anything they feel deeply about that doesn’t involve a lot of pork. But cipher or not, Obama is also the president of a one-party government, and if his party can’t govern, he doesn’t get off that easy. He still gets to be a failure and is the one who will ultimately wear it.

The GOP’s Misplaced Rage

To a large extent, Obama is only cleaning up messes created by Bush. This is not to say Obama hasn’t made mistakes himself, but even they can be blamed on Bush insofar as Bush’s incompetence led to the election of a Democrat. If he had done half as good a job as most Republicans have talked themselves into believing he did, McCain would have won easily. According to the National Bureau of Economic Research, the recession began in December 2007—long before Obama was even nominated.

Sadly, we’ve had this kind of nonsense influencing our government at high levels for decades; it just hasn’t been as bold and clear as we now see it in John Holdren. Dr. Michael Engor has an open letter to President Obama published at the Discovery Institute today. Michael Egnor, M.D. is a professor of neurosurgery and pediatrics at State University of New York, Stony Brook and an award-winning brain surgeon who has been named one of New York’s best doctors by New York Magazine. Dr. Engor says, among other things, Despite his strong scientific credentials, he advanced theories in the 1970’s and 1980’s that have become the paradigm of ideologically motivated junk science. He and his collaborators (such as co-author Paul Ehrlich) predicted world-wide famine as a consequence of over-population by the late 20th century, and they advocated radical coercive public policies to avert catastrophe. These predictions were explicit, public, and were published under . . . . .

A Change In Customer Service

I post this video because it would good to see a change of attitude in many industries. I for one think of the phone/internet provider I currently use - which falls down dismally in its handling of customer queries which then turn into complaints because they don't fix it the first time. Talking to voice recordings and being transferred around the company for a full day (not just once but on a number of occassions) constitutes incompetence (at least for me). Though the service itself is brilliant.

Why The Loudest are Often the Most Wrong
Kore7
by Kore7  5-5-2007    12
This classic paper by Kruger and Dunning, Unskilled and Unaware of It: How Difficulties in Recognizing One's Own Incompetence Lead to Inflated Self-Assessments , examines the psychological reasons for the unfortunately common correlation between ignorance and confidence. We argue that when people are incompetent in the strategies they adopt to achieve success and satisfaction, they suffer a dual burden: Not only do they reach erroneous conclusions and make unfortunate choices, but their incompetence robs them of the ability to realize it. Instead, like Mr. Wheeler, they are left with the mistaken impression that they are doing just fine. As Miller (1993) perceptively observed in the quote that opens this article, and as Charles Darwin (1871) sagely noted over a century ago, "ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge." UN to Emerge as Global IRS
disenchantedcitizen
by disenchantedcitizen  6-25-2009
This spells the end of the U.S. as the world’s leading economic power. The UN and the IMF have positioned themselves as the world’s socialist authority whose ‘duty’ it is to spread the wealth to underprivileged nations in an attempt to form a more ‘balanced’ financial situation through a new global reserve currency, and a new global credit facility. The nerve center of this emerging new international socialist system will be the United Nations, a body that has developed a reputation for corruption and incompetence and whose "peacekeepers" have been implicated in sexual abuse and other human rights violations. This is in effect setting the foundation for that ‘new world order’ that so many people have dismissed.

The Case of the Missing H-Bomb: The Pentagon Has Lost the Mother of All Weapons
disenchantedcitizen
by disenchantedcitizen  5-17-2009    2
Everyone knows there will be incompetence found in any large organization. We all know ‘upper’ management despises any appearance of incompetence and/or weakness, hence the inevitable ploy known as the “cover up”. Even though these cover ups are nothing new, I still am amazed at the depths of a military cover up. The loss of military equipment, particularly weapons and, OMG, hydrogen bombs, presents a grave concern to the general public. The fact that the military would prefer to cover up these losses and stop looking for them in favor of preserving the outward appearance that they are trustworthy and dependable to keep us all safe, is nothing short of criminal. In light of all the known cover ups we have been forced to endure over the years, is there any possible way that the American public can ever trust politicians, military personnel, CEO’s, bankers, policemen, or any other person of authority?

Dems Desperately Trying To Cut and Run From “Torture” Debate

Now they’re trying to run away from the topic lest it get more press that they knew about “torture” and railed against it. Worse yet, if the press starts to look at who knew what/when…people might see that yeah, Democrats KNEW about pre-war intel on Iraq, and it wasn’t a case of Bushliedpeopledied (the timeline is 100% clear on this as are the bi-partisan investigations and reports). People might actually realize that Sen Rockefeller misled about a lack of WMD threat because he KNEW what was found. Sen Levin misled about regime ties to Al Queda because he’d been briefed too. All these briefings took place around the same time the torture briefings did. GOP Finds Winning Issue: Calling Democrats Names

The effort is a breakthrough moment in political inanity. Members of the Republican National Committee are holding a special meeting so they can officially ask Democrats to change the name of their political party to something Republicans prefer. In fact, the resolution, which might as well have been written in crayon, concludes that the RNC is "calling on" the Democratic Party to embrace the GOP-endorsed name. It adds that Democrats "should agree" to the re-naming. If Democrats disagree, the RNC has promised to stomp its feet and hold its breath.
