POPSNo Matter How Deep The Tinsel Gets "Their passion notwithstanding, they're no match for a $450-billion marketing juggernaut whose seasonal tally helps determine the course of our national economy. Don't get me wrong; I'd never discourage the purists from raising their questions. After all, contention itself confers importance on an issue in America. And the paradox inherent in modern Christmases is worth grappling with. The very fact that the battle to save Christmas is joined year in and year out -- and has been since we started down the gift-giving, Black Friday, mallification path of excess -- seals the deal. If the tension lives, the true meaning of Christmas does too, no matter how deep the tinsel gets. And that ought to give everyone at least a little comfort and joy."

POPSMoodys Warns U.S. Aaa Rating In Danger if it doesn't reduce the debt - either with taxes or cutting expenditures. Notice they gave the administration "3-4 years" so as to allow for an Obama re-election before raising taxes. Then it's all hell breakin' loose for taxes. Either that or let the rating fall and apologize for the fact that we ever had a Triple-A in the first place and appeal to our "empathy for those nations that never had top rating. This would also fit into the progressive p.r. agenda.

POPSIntroducing The Swiftboat Network A new ploy to hide behind the corporate curtain to allow wealthy individuals unlimited expenditure in spinning any election. Sickening. See all the details at the source. Democratic elections are dead, and the sheeple will be baying low. Of course, were a protest to be mounted, we could count on the Pittsburgh Police to bring law to the land in a hurry.

Few on Capitol Hill, or in the media, took note that the order provides a free ticket replete with housing and food allowances to individuals who have displayed their overwhelming support to the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the parliamentary election of January 2006.

POPSDo Tax Cuts Starve the Beast? No. indeed, the point estimates suggest that tax cuts increase spending. The results also indicate that the main effect of tax cuts on the government budget is to induce subsequent legislated tax increases. Examination of four episodes of major tax cuts reinforces these conclusions.

POPSMaxing Out The Race Card In contrast, what has Barack Obama done since becoming president? " Increased taxes to pay for the S-CHIP expansion, supported a cap and trade bill that amounts to a $1,500 to $4,000 tax increase on every American family, and has discussed tax increase to pay for his health care scheme. " Spending increases " a massive “stimulus,” a massive expenditure bill with 9,000 earmarks, and his trillion dollar plus health care scheme, $9 Trillion in deficit spending. POPSPrevention world buzzing after health report Through my health clinic, I visit a nurse 4 times a year to work on health programs that focus on wellness. Visits to my doctor are less frequent and usually only for prescriptions and a discussion on cricket or golf. ( That, in itself, is an uplifting experience after visits which were all about trying things to get better.) I suppose I will have to praise them for being ahead of many in Australia.

POPSObamacare - Ted Kennedy Lives; Grandma Dies The government, on the other hand, simply wants you to be efficient. Hence, daring to stay alive – loving and being loved while walking through the fire – is a selfish thing, a foolish expenditure of time, funding and manpower when you are “dying anyway”; determining that you will kill yourself when your engine no longer performs at optimum capacity, well, that’s selfless, heroic and brave. This mindset is evil, by the way. If you’re not sure, if you’re wondering about it, let’s be clear: assigning monetary value to life based on budgets and arbitrary assessments that disregard humanity’s (and life’s) “intangible assets” such as, you know…loving, being loved and oh yes, the basic human desire to continue living, is evil.

POPSHealthcare: Compassion and cost-cutting go together "Mr. Bush claimed to be against excessive government expenditure. So what did he do to rein in the cost of Medicare, the biggest single item driving federal spending? Nothing. In fact, the 2003 Medicare Modernization Act drove costs up both by preventing bargaining over drug prices and by locking in subsidies to insurance companies"

POPSWords A Matter Of Public Record "Earlier this year, Mr. Obama assured us that most of the stimulus money "will go out the door immediately." But it hasn't. Only about 7.7% of the stimulus has been spent in the six months since its passage, and more of it will be spent in the program's last eight years than in its first year. So now the president claims he said something different. "We also knew that it would take some time for the money to get out the door," Mr. Obama said in his weekly radio address on Saturday. One problem with Mr. Obama's stimulus bill that is rarely talked about is that it will force a huge, and likely permanent, increase in discretionary, domestic spending. That portion of federal spending was $393 billion in President George W. Bush's last budget. Democrats immediately raised it to $408 billion for this fiscal year and now face the question of whether to make the stimulus a one-time expenditure or a permanent spending increase."

POPS The Felid Purr: A Bio-Mechanical Healing Mechanism Given the data on anabolic frequencies, fracture and healing research, the exact match of the frequencies and amplitudes of the cat's purrs to vibrational therapy research, time proven adages, biomechanical therapy, studies on tendon and muscle repair and Dr. Cook's study, it is certainly not a leap of faith to speculate that the cat's purr is a healing mechanism. Having a natural way to increase strength, and decrease healing time, would indeed be very advantageous and would explain the purr's development.

POPSComics, Magicians, and Mimes, oh my! From the Patriot-News Editorial: Gov. Ed Rendell is trying to do his part to aid the citizens of the commonwealth. His latest plan is to use about $15 million from the federal stimulus funds pouring into the state to try and change the mood of Pennsylvanians. The Patriot-News has learned that the money will be spent to hire clowns, mimes, magicians, street performers and comedians (nothing blue) who will be dispatched to malls, fairs and festivals across the state to boost morale. The merriment will be conducted through a new Headquarters of Economic and Emotive Efforts, or HEEE. So the next time you go to the Colonial Park Mall, look for the guy juggling bowling pins outside the Sears store, but if you don't catch him, we at least hope reading this will make you chuckle.
