Rove: Champion of "traditional" divorce
ratilfar
by ratilfar  12-30-2009    2
Actually, this is Rove's second divorce. His first wife was "Valerie Wainright, a wealthy Houston woman from the Bush social circle, but the marriage could not withstand his consuming preoccupation with politics." They divorced after three years of marriage. So the one that was just terminated was Rove's second "traditional marriage" to end without death doing them part. His next traditional marriage will be to his third wife. Did I mention that Rove believes it's vital that our secular laws enforce precepts of "traditional marriages" and bar everything else?

The Infowarrior
by The Infowarrior  12-19-2009
Professor Michael Klare noted in 2007: Sixteen gallons of oil. That's how much the average American soldier in Iraq and Afghanistan consumes on a daily basis -- either directly, through the use of Humvees, tanks, trucks, and helicopters, or indirectly, by calling in air strikes. Multiply this figure by 162,000 soldiers in Iraq, 24,000 in Afghanistan, and 30,000 in the surrounding region (including sailors aboard U.S. warships in the Persian Gulf) and you arrive at approximately 3.5 million gallons of oil: the daily petroleum tab for U.S. combat operations in the Middle East war zone. And in 2008, Oil Change International released a report showing that: * The war is responsible for at least 141 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MMTCO2e) since March 2003. To put this in perspective, CO2 released by the war to date equals the emissions from putting 25 million more cars on the road in the US this year. article continues...

Defending Marriage
debbyski
by debbyski  12-10-2009
"Marcotte's project is a political statement designed to call the bluff of the very group it's pretending to embrace: those seeking to protect marriage by limiting it to heterosexuals. The measure, of course, isn't meant to pass but rather to expose the hypocrisy of those who see gay marriage as a threat to their own unions. Never mind that the measure probably won't make the ballot even if it gets those 700,000 signatures and they're all valid; a lawsuit could easily keep it off the ballot. In the end, Marcotte wins either way. The Facebook page for the California Protection of Marriage Act has garnered more than 23,000 fans, and MSNBC's Keith Olbermann tipped his hat to Marcotte on a "Best Person in the World" segment last month."

Martha's Vineyard rich liberals: "No wind turbines, they spoil my ocean view"
clip-on-tie
by clip-on-tie  12-9-2009
The hypocrisy of the wealthy celebrity warmists whose lifestyle makes a daily carbon footprint as large as one of China’s coal-fired plants is astounding. They reject a wind farm in Nantucket bay because it will spoil their view. I could care less that Al Gore has made a bigger mess of the environment with his nine concerts than years of single toilet paper use by the entire population could compensate for. I am tired of hearing that it’s my responsibility to reduce this myth of global warming. I’m tired of being told I’m “addicted to oil,” when the country’s entire infrastructure is built on the automobile. These people are idiots. I'd like to throw them all into Nantucket Bay where they'll be Aquaman's problem instead.

Hypocrisy Abounds at Climate Change Summit
clip-on-tie
by clip-on-tie  12-9-2009    1
This hypocrisy will once again be on full display at the United Nations summit on climate change which will soon take place in Copenhagen. As world leaders gather to try to find ways for the rest of us to cut emissions, they themselves will be flown in private jets and driven in limos. So far more than twelve hundred limos have been ordered for the event with more expected, and according to airport officials in Copenhagen more than one hundred and forty private jets have already been chartered for the event in which the world is supposed to take a hard stand against emissions. So as our fearless leaders gather to lecture the third world and normal citizens of western countries how they are killing the planet, they themselves will be creating more than forty thousand tonnes of emissions, which is the same amount a city of 500,000 would produce in the same amount of time. Sometimes irony and hypocrisy aren’t strong enough words.

HYPOCRITICAL SCAM ARTISTS
mountainpalm
by mountainpalm  12-7-2009
Approximately 140 aircraft carrying world leaders, heads of state and VIPs will land in Copenhagen, the U.N. estimates — although 95 percent of departures from Copenhagen Airport will be “green departures,” which allow airplanes to climb continuously to their optimal operating level, enabling them to reach planned routes sooner than usual. The result, according to the U.N., is saved time, fuel and carbon emissions. But Michaels wonders why attendees, particularly those in Europe, can't ride the rails into Copenhagen. “That’s the way I get to New York,” Michaels said. “There’s nothing new here. There’s always been a lot of hypocrisy amongst the climate change political community. "Prince Charles goes around the world in a private jet, telling everyone else they need to ration their carbon dioxide. Please.”

He lied about using public funding for his campaign. He lied about delivering a “net spending cut.” He lied about going line by line through the federal budget and eliminating programs that don’t work. And on and on it goes. So eager are some to “get” Sarah Palin that they apply a standard to her which, if applied to any one of their political allies, would make them look far worse, far, far worse than than accomplished conservative. So keep screaming about Palin. The hypocrisy is astounding. How about we have a pity party for the liberals? Who wants to come? It's stupid and the hypocrisy is sickening. THE ARTICLE: "The court has been told that Tulay's relationship with her boyfriend, Halil Unal, would have been unacceptable to her family. He is a Sunni Muslim while the Goren family was from the Alevi branch of the faith. Tulay went missing from Woodford Green, north London, in January 1999. Her body has never been found. The brothers have tried to shift the blame to each other during the course of the trial."

Rachel does her usual superb job of muckraking. A little more from the article below: The GOP smear machine tries to link ACORN to prostitution. Beyond the hypocrisy of Republicans denouncing prostitutes (long history of using them), do they really want talk of prostitution? One former Blackwater employee recently stated in a sworn declaration that Blackwater owner Erik Prince "failed to stop the ongoing use of prostitutes, including child prostitutes, by his men." Another former employee described "having young girls provide oral sex to Enterprise members in the 'Blackwater Man Camp' in exchange for one American dollar." Even if ACORN did provide inappropriate tax advice to a prostitute, is that really on the same level as this conduct being conducted on a huge U.S. government contract? If you think these are just the allegations of disgruntled employees, read the Justice Department’s perspective on Blackwater’s crimes and how its

Carrie Prejean Goes Down. Literally!
ratilfar

Of course, all of this should have little effect on her career. If anything it will add fuel to it with the way Americans are infatuated with hypocrites and fallen angels. Vivid Entertainment Group, which specializes in adult films, made an offer of a million dollars to Prejean back in May to make a movie for them. Seems she might be a natural. This could only raise her value in the porn market. Practice makes perfect. I'm curious as to how all the rightwing Prejean backers will spin this and find a way to blame this on everyone but Prejean. I might even turn on Fox News to check it out. With Prejean's looks and attitude, she may end up with her own show over there since credibility isn't a factor in Fox's hiring practices. And for those of you who don’t remember who actually won the Miss California Pageant, her name is Tami Ferrell from Malibu. How soon we forget those with actual morals.

Blackpool Conservatives accused.

The sweet smell of hypocrisy wafts round Blackpool like a ruptured effluent pipe out into the Irish Sea. For years the public have ignored the murmurings of ‘irregularity’ in local politics because not a single body appeared to have the stomach or authority to confront dubious activities. The imagination with which politicians interpret rules to suit themselves is farcical and responsible for the moral cesspit that governs public perception. Where are simple ethics of Right and Wrong? Definitely not in Westminster and the country might say, not in many council offices. It is this perception that prevents perfectly decent people from entering politics and playing an active role in society. When Steve Flanigan resigned as Treasurer of the Blackpool South Conservatives, there was not a murmur. The fact that a leading councillor had received donations of £250 from the late George Thompson of the Pleasure Beach and had chosen not to immediately declare it to the Treasurer is and was
