POPSRoss Perot Jr Haggling to Finish Off the Rhino He Shot That Got Away "White rhino (Ceratotherum simum) are considered a conservation-dependent species and are classified as Near Threatened by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. Intense efforts have increased the population from fewer than 100 in 1895 to approximately 17,500 today. Supporters of trophy hunting claim it is a viable method for “managing” the white rhino population. The practice also brings in tourism dollars and helps fund conservation efforts. Many others oppose the notion of trophy hunting, pointing out that killing an animal to get a thrill - and acquire a stuffed head for one’s wall - is not an acceptable “sport”." Apparently his son Hill Perot got his trophy, "white rhino head".

POPSGreat Whites Hang Out in 'Shark Cafe' It had long been assumed shark species at the top of the ocean food chain that roam the high seas looking for food and mates did so almost randomly. But using satellite tagging, acoustic monitoring of shark "hot spots" and genetic samples, a research team led by Professor Barbara Block of Stanford University found to their surprise that the eastern Pacific's great whites are real homebodies. Over an eight year period, nearly 100 sharks were electronically tagged, and even more had tissue samples taken by scientists working from a ship. Sticking to a schedule They found that the sharks consistently migrate along the same paths and stick to a schedule. Between August and December, the great whites, which can grow up to six metres and weigh three tonnes, stalk waters off the coast of central and northern California, feasting on seals and sea lions. Their preferred hunting grounds in this area are known as the "red triangle", notes the study.

POPSGreat White Sharks Have Their Own Cafe
"Over an eight year period, nearly 100 sharks were electronically tagged, and even more had tissue samples taken by scientists working from a ship. Not only do the sharks consistently migrate along the same paths, they stick to a schedule too. Between August and December, the Great Whites -- which can grow up to six metres (20 feet) and three tonnes -- stalk waters off the coast of central and northern California, feasting on seals and sea lions. Their preferred hunting grounds in this area are known as the "red triangle", notes the study, published in the British journal Proceedings of the Royal Society B. Starting in January, they head for the deep blue around Hawaii some 4,000 kilometers (2,500 miles) to the west, where they are found in largest numbers between April and July. But some -- especially males -- loiter at a halfway point known as the "White Shark Cafe", with females coming and going for what scientists presume is a bit of shark intimacy. The new findi

POPSLiz Cheney emerges, the left's feeding frenzy (and "tolerance"), verging on abject panic So Liz Cheney, just like Palin, unnerves and upsets the Left, not simply because she might run for something and win, and not only because she is one of the most effective conservative spokeswomen on national security. She threatens their claim to the moral high ground and their assertion that women voters belong to the Left. That’s reason enough to send them into fits of rage. And you can bet they’re only getting warmed up. So predictable. Saw this coming a mile away. It's almost boring watching the left piss their pants again over a woman who happens to be a conservative. Maybe we can expect David Letterman to crack a rape joke about Liz and her family, on behalf of the "tolerant" left. Sad. POPSPETA's dirty secrets: 7 things you didn't know about PETA
More: regularly target children as young as six years old with anti-meat and anti-milk propaganda, often waiting outside their schools to intercept them as they walk to and from class-without notifying parents.… PETA…fund the misnamed Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), a deceptive animal rights group that promotes itself as an unbiased source of medical and nutritional information… PETA…billboards taunt Christians with the message that hogs "died for their sins."…And its infamous "Holocaust on Your Plate" campaign crassly compares the Jewish victims of Nazi genocide with farm animals. PETA has repeatedly attacked research foundations like the March of Dimes, the Pediatric AIDS Foundation, and the American Cancer Society, because they support animal-based research that might uncover cures for birth defects and life-threatening diseases…president Ingrid Newkirk has said that "even if animal research resulted in a cure for AIDS, we would be against it."

POPSIsrael Says UN War Crimes Investigation a Distraction Hunting down the Nazis, though, wasn't a "distraction." The holocaust in Gaza deserves equal attention. Over one and a half million people are being starved to death in front of the eyes of the world in the Gaza strip, by the total and ruthless Israeli blockade, destruction of infrastructure, restrictions on employment, farming, fishing and repair of homes. The U.N. report says this blockade must be ended. It is not a "distraction." It would be stopping a crime against humanity.

POPSBarack Obama: "Yes, I hunted and killed Bigfoot!"
To sum things up for the media, his press secretary said, "Look, Barack Obama is for everything this week!" When quiried abot the actual killing of the elusive Bigfoot and where the actual body was, Mr. Obama claims he really didn't 'kill' the Yeti, but wounded him in the arm. He tearfuly expressed his sorrow for wounding the beast as a camera crew from PETA caught the tearful confession. When the animal extremist crew left, Obama turned his attention to the reporters who were setting up to record his hunting statements. Reporters pressed him for more details about his hunting exploits. Questions ranged from..."Where did you hunt in Chicago?" to... "What caliber bullets he used in his shotgun?" Mr. Obama stumbled on the last question and had to ask an aide "what a shotgun was". The aide hastily pulled out a Bass-Pro hunting catalog flyer and showed him a picture of a kid's Daisy BB gun, which the smiling Barack 'Barry' Obama confidently pointed to as the type of weapon he s

POPSNative American Artifact Looting The high desert of the Four Corners region was home to a flourishing Native American civilization centuries before European exploration, and traces of these inhabitants are found throughout the canyons and mesas of the Southwest, preserved by the arid air inside caves, on rock faces and in towering cliff houses.

POPSOakland man turns 111, insists it's no big deal
More: Yes, Hatch is a cool dude. Just the nicest, sharpest, spunkiest, friendliest, most capable man you'd ever want to know. Age really has nothing to do with all that, other than to provide him with a vast array of stories to pepper any conversation. Like when he used to go hunting for jack rabbits in the "country" of Castro Valley and Hayward, back before all the freeways and houses and BART. He even hunted bear in Alaska until the time he saw another hunter kill a mama bear with cubs and it broke his heart, so he hung up his shotgun. "That got me right here," he said, touching his chest. He traveled for years as a merchant marine, working on cargo ships all over the world. He taught himself Spanish when he was in Mexico City. He survived an apartment fire in 1971 in West Oakland, though he lost a couple of fingers dangling from a burning window. He worked as a blacksmith, an auto mechanic and a taxi driver, and even drove Jimmy Carter to the Oakland airport one time.

POPSWill Dog Fighting Videos be Protected by Freedom of Speech? If the Supreme Court rules to uphold the conviction of Stevens, the law will be reinstated and animals will once again be protected from people who make money from their suffering. It seems like it should be an easy decision for the Supreme Court, but since the concept of free speech has come into question everyone from book publishers to movie producers, photographers, artists and journalists have gotten involved. They have taken animal cruelty out of the equation and replaced it with their own interests that they believe will be damaged if Stevens loses. Even the ACLU has gotten involved. The New York Times went as far as filing a “brief” in support of Stevens. They said, “The 1999 law imperils the media’s ability to report on issues related to animals.” Media publications cite that they are concerned that hunting and fishing magazines will be censored and general reporting on animal issues will be limited.

POPSWhat Does It Mean To Be A Survivalist? More @ source. The feeling of needing to prepare to ensure yours and your families survival is one that is on the rise so lets take a glimpse a just what it means. For me at least It means you might stay alive as the whole world circles the drain, or that being in a more stable position, you are able to help others who are not so well prepared when disaster strikes. On a basic level think of it like this, if you were going camping would you leave with no equipment or supplies, of course not, not if you intend to live. So what happens when nature comes to you? It could be a quake, a tornado, a hurricane or typhoon, or floods or even any number of human caused events, how will your Ikea flat pack fortress protect you then?

POPSJury says chemotherapy drug death was "manslaughter" continued If you accidentally shoot your best friend in a hunting accident, you're held responsible (unless you're the U.S. Vice President, of course). If you have a swimming pool in your back yard, and a drunken neighbor drowns in your pool, you're also held responsible. But somehow, if you're a doctor or pharmacist, and you prescribe a fatal dose of toxic chemicals to a patient, you're off the hook! Doctors and pharmacists have been getting away with murder for so long that no one even remembers what it's like to hold them responsible for their actions. Let's face it: They're in the business of dealing poisons. And when you deal in poison, there needs to be a level of personal responsibility that's adhered to by working professionals. But instead of professionalism, what we're seeing in this case is the complete abandonment of any such notion. When the patient dies, they simply "lose the paperwork" to cover their tracks.
