Huckabee Releases Statement, Judge Thomas J. Felnagle Set Bail For Maurice Clemmons
merrie
by merrie  11-30-2009    1
I’ve been monitoring the SPD police scanner throughout the day. There have been many dead ends. Chatter and action is picking up after a call this afternoon from a citizen who reportedly discovered bloody gauze and an abandoned vehicle. Officers are headed to the scene. Scanner chatter reports that someone also spotted a black male on foot and bleeding. More as it comes in. Tacoma News Tribune’s crime blog is monitoring. http://bit.ly/6FHG1H Seattle Times reports that police are also seeking Clemmons’ wife and car. They believe she may be headed to…Arkansas Authorities remained on edge all day. At one point, Troyer, who was carrying an assault rifle, told members of the media, “this is kind of a hot area, so you’re kind of on your own.” Heavily armed police on Sunday surrounded the Tacoma home of Clemmons’ wife, not far from the shooting scene. It didn’t appear anyone was home. Later Sunday night they served a search warrant at the home.

Executioned Police Officers Re-Opens Huckabee's Clemency Record
merrie
by merrie  11-30-2009    1
Huckabee was expected to discuss the Clemmons case Monday night during an interview with Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly. Clemmons was among 1,033 people who were pardoned or had their sentences reduced during Huckabee's 10 1/2 years as governor, a number that far surpasses that of his three predecessors combined. Bill Clinton, Frank White and Jim Guy Tucker granted 507 clemencies in the 17 1/2 years they served. Beebe, Huckabee's Democratic successor, has issued 273 commutations and pardons since taking office in January 2007—all but one of them were pardons after the completion of the inmates' prison terms.

U.S. Fails To Make Top 10 Quality of Life Index
JackieDel
by JackieDel  10-9-2009    3
Sure, it's easy to claim a higher quality of life when you live in a place like France, where you get 30 days of paid vacation every year. Never mind that their productivity numbers nearly equal ours. Where's the index for rugged individualism and personal responsibility? How good do ya think them Frenchies would do on that, huh? They just don't have the stuff to accept a shorter life expectancy and crappy health care. (The lifespan for African-Americans in the former French city of New Orleans is about the same as that of people living in North Korea.) But, hey, they're not who we mean when we talk about Americans, anyway. I don't want your damn pinko health care. And keep your hands off my gun. Oh, and, U.S. outta the U.N., dammit!

Kennedy would have been urged to die earlier under Obama Care
kareval
by kareval  8-28-2009    6
" t was President Obama himself who suggested that seniors who don't have as long to live might want to consider just taking a pain pill instead of getting an expensive operation to cure them," said Huckabee. "Yet when Sen. Kennedy was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer at 77, did he give up on life and go home to take pain pills and die? Of course not. He freely did what most of us would do. He choose an expensive operation and painful follow up treatments. He saw his work as vitally important and so he fought for every minute he could stay on this earth doing it. He would be a very fortunate man if his heroic last few months were what future generations remember him most for."

Note the flattery in his message to gain their support, championing the radical Likud party's cause. He knows who butters the bread of candidates for U.S. president. Next stop, back in America, will likely be AIPAC. Interesting the power of Israel on U.S. candidates, isn't it? Likely finding some heavy financing from this sponsor of his trip too.

My Tea Party Rant
merrie
by merrie  4-16-2009    2
Huckabee saddled the Republicans with McCain, period. Romney would have been the candidate to have on the podium when it was obvious that the economy was in trouble. Now remember, with no Obama in the White House pursuing his Marxists policies, it is very unlikely that these Tea Parties would have ever occurred. So, I find it particularly outrageous that Huckabee was out in front, co-opting the Tea Parties to the benefit of his ‘Fair Tax’ issue, when he in large part, contributed to the eventual election of Obama by saddling us with the inept John McCain. Now, Huckabee has parleyed his campaign presence into some sort of Fox TV show and we can expect him to be putting his mug in front of any populist movement that he thinks he can use to further his cause - him. ( There is a good article over on mises.org about the Flat Tax and the Fair Tax, and how they distract from the real problem - out of control spending) http://mises.org/story/3389

Movin' On Up
merrie
by merrie  4-1-2009    1
Of those in the second lowest income quintile, nearly 50% moved into the middle quintile or higher, and only 17% moved down. This is a stunning show of upward mobility, meaning that more than half of all lower-income Americans in 1996 had moved up the income scale in only 10 years. Also encouraging is the fact that the after-inflation median income of all tax filers increased by an impressive 24% over the same period. Two of every three workers had a real income gain--which contradicts the Huckabee-Edwards-Lou Dobbs spin about stagnant incomes. Those who start at the bottom but hold full-time jobs nonetheless enjoyed steady income gains. The Treasury study found that those tax filers who were in the poorest income quintile in 1996 saw a near doubling of their incomes (90.5%) over the subsequent decade. Those in the highest quintile, on the other hand, saw only modest income gains (10%).

Time Marches On
debbyski
by debbyski  3-22-2009    4
"At the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington in February, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee declared that "Lenin and Stalin would love this stuff." Obama's economic stimulus package, Huckabee added, would help create "socialist republics" in the United States. On what planet are these people living? In a sense, they are living on the same planet as the editors of the Chicago Tribune after Hiss' conviction in 1950. Time marches on, but ideological anti-rationalism does not."

CPAC Straw Poll Vindicates Ron Paul, Huckabee Distanced
blueridge
by blueridge  2-28-2009
Ron Paul in virtual tie for 2nd, with Palin, well above Huckabee. Conservatives, unlike the republican establishment, like Ron Paul's principles on economics, preserving Constitutional law and liberty, and apparently even foreign policy (surprise, surprise) over others . This shows that conservatives then are divided, and not ready to throw all their weight behind one lead candidate (i.e. Romney, a CFR member and RINO who has no real conservative or Constitutional record). It must be acknowledged that Ron Paul's principles are vindicated as attractive among conservatives, and been missing from the Republican party. While Romney won the poll this still means Republicans are out of touch with conservatives listening now to Paul outside the heat of political campaigns. The fact that he fairs so much better here than during the primaries (although he trampled Giuliani then) says that conservatives are awakening and listening to his message, finally.

Of course Mike thinks gay marriage would be bad for society, bad for marriage, and bad for children. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. Everyone has a right to fall in love with whomever they choose, and it's inappropriate for him to politic on a "religious" ( I could argue otherwise) platform for government to mediate our relationships. In fact, it is only reinforcing beliefs that are homophobic and teaching others to hate homosexuals. He is totally free to live his life according to his beliefs; God bless America. But it's morally and civilly wrong for him to prevent other people from being happy in their own love.

For over seven minutes last night, Jon Stewart grilled former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee on his opposition to gay marriage. Huckabee is touring the country to promote his new book, "Do The Right Thing." When Stewart compared gay marriage bans to interracial marriage bans, Huckabee restated his view that homosexuality is simply a behavior choice:
