POPSThe Debate: I Learn Something New Every Day Apparently 95% of us will need to sacrifice by enjoying Barack's tax cut and new health care plan but some will sacrifice by paying more in taxes. Raising taxes to battle a recession - well, you can't say Obama lacks for original ideas. THE OBAMA DOCTRINE: Obama asserts that America has a moral obligation to intervene with force in certain foreign circumstances and cites the Holocaust. His gist - if we could have intervened effectively to prevent the Holocaust we should have. Hmm - many have argued that the rail lines to Auschwitz were within range of US bombers yet Roosevelt did nothing. Both George Bush and George McGovern think Roosevelt erred - $79 BILLION: Obama was wrong about the Iraqi budget surplus at the last debate and he is still wrong.

POPSWhen is a holocaust not a holocaust? (cont.)Thus, the number of people available for being killers or victims is markedly reduced. Moreover, extensive ethnic cleansing has taken place in the country (another good indication of progress, n'est-ce pas?). Sunnis and Shiites are now living more in their own special enclaves than before, none of those stinking mixed communities with their unholy mixed marriages, so violence of the sectarian type has also gone down; and the powerful movement of Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sadr has had a cease-fire in effect for many months, unconnected to the surge. On top of all this, US soldiers, in the face of numerous "improvised explosive devices" on the roads, have been venturing out a lot less (for fear of things like ... well, dying), so the violence against our noble lads is also down. Remember that insurgent attacks on American forces is how the Iraqi violence all began in the first place.

POPSFoundation Acquires Letters Sent From Prisoners of Nazi..Camps We all know that innumerable 'holocausts' occurred over the centuries. Even now, they are occurring; but these personal words from those who experienced such racial hatred will be memorials and perhaps fortify those who want to take the initiative to prevent such things from happening again. All the while...knowing that all we do is a drop in the bucket because *hate* and dictatorship are *normal* for this world. But these are a great reminder and I look forward to reading them in more detail.

POPSDoes Iran's President deny the Holocaust? (cont.) The German TV-station n24 spreads the following on 2006-12-14 using the title 'Iran's President calls the Holocaust a myth': "The Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has stepped up his verbal attacks against Israel and called the Holocaust a 'myth' used as a pretext by the Europeans to found a Jewish state in the center of the Islamic world . 'In the name of the Holocaust they have created a myth and regard it to be worthier than God, religion and the prophets' the Iranian head of state said."

POPSDoes Iran's President Want Israel Wiped Off The Map? (cont.)When our dear Imam said that the regime must be removed, many of those who claimed to be politically well-informed said it was not possible. All the corrupt governments were in support of the regime when Imam Khomeini started his movement. ]]] and said the removal of the regime was not possible. But our people resisted and it is 27 years now that we have survived without a regime dependent on the United States. The tyranny of the East and the West over the world should have to end, but weak people who can see only what lies in front of them cannot believe this. Who would believe that one day we could witness the collapse of the Eastern Empire? But we could watch its fall in our lifetime. And it collapsed in a way that we have to refer to libraries because no trace of it is left. Imam said Sadda

POPS It's A Party! -- Kinda' [& NO Applause for Ahmadinejad] While the United States and Israel left their ambassadorial seats empty, here is the Jew-hatred greeted by enthusiasm at today’s U.N. In its entire history, the United Nations General Assembly has never adopted a resolution dedicated to denouncing and combating the scourge of antisemitism in all its forms. Now we know why. Less than half of U.N. members are fully free democracies and among them there is no consensus that discrimination and demonization of Jews and the Jewish state is wrong. On the contrary, at the U.N. vicious antisemitism is met by a round of applause. — Anne Bayefsky is a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute and at Touro College. POPSGiants and Jets Fans Join Uproar Over Stadium's Nazi Ties The company insured the Auschwitz death camp and had a chief executive serving in Hitler's cabinet. The company is on the short list of those vying to slap their name on the Meadowlands stadium in New Jersey via a lucrative sponsorship deal. The "NMSC has undertaken a rigorous due diligence effort," said spokeswoman Alice McGillion. "NMSC management and the teams' owners became sensitive to Allianz's history." After weeks of vetting the company, ownership is convinced that Allianz has done enough to correct its past, said a source close to the negotiations. Rabbi Jay Rosenbaum, secretary general of the North American Board of Rabbis, agreed that although survivors' sensibilities are understandable, a naming deal is legit. "I have found Allianz to be receptive, to be sensitive and a friend of the Jewish people today," he said. "We need not live in the past."

POPSThe Battle of Words (cont.)Unfortunately, Adolf Hitler understood the power of speech, the power of propaganda and the power of the “big lie.” Physical power was paramount since he believed, “is not right that matters, but victory.” However, physical strength is not sufficient to consummate the revolution. It must be escorted, heralded by its honor guard: the power of speech. How did Hitler know this? Why did it ultimately fail?

POPSRussian Dissident Alexander Solzhenitsyn Dead How symbolic as America has also forgotten the warning of this experienced anti-communist who railed against Stalin while the US was preoccupied with Hitler (which Pat Buchanan laments in his new book The Unnecessary War): "The Gulag Archipelago" is a non-fictional account ...great holocaust of our century-- the imprisonment, brutalization and very often murder of tens of millions of innocent Soviet citizens by their own Government, mostly during Stalin's rule from 1929 to 1953. The present generation has hardly heard of this man who warned of the Russian tyranny of his time coming to America: A state of war only serves as an excuse for domestic tyranny. The next war... may well bury Western civilization forever. Hastiness and superficiality are the psychic diseases of the 20th century, and more than anywhere else this disease is reflected in the press. Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

POPSAbout Obama’s Comments At The Holocaust Memorial And Museum continued; going without at home to help the fighting men overseas. Words matter. Perhaps my words in the post, Obama: WWII won by speaking out as one voice, were not adequate to portray the betrayal of America’s–and the worlds–greatest generation. Perhaps I am simply making too much of nothing. Sure, Obama will say, it was just a euphemism; of course he honors the sacrifices, blah blah blah. But I do not believe this is the truth. I believe that his words do mean something. His words assault the reality and remove the sacrifices. His words turn my grandparents and great uncles and great aunts into nothing, pushed aside in favor of modern liberal rhetoric with no goal beyond winning an election. Our greatest generation did not speak out. They fought; they sacrificed; they died; and, ultimately, they saved the world.

POPSObama backs Israel strike Just about his first words when he beat off Hillary were pro Israel. He now appears happy with the title of leader of a war machine. Seems happy to follow the Jews demands. Am I getting ahead of myself, as this sort of press doesn't really know what is happening.

POPS'Worse than apartheid' Nablus is closed off by six checkpoints. Until 2005, one of them was open. "The checkpoints are supposedly for security purposes, but anyone who wants to perpetrate an attack can pay NIS 10 for a taxi and travel by bypass roads, or walk through the hills. The real purpose is to make life hard for the inhabitants. The civilian population suffers," says Said Abu Hijla, a lecturer at Al-Najah University in the city. In the bus I get acquainted with my two neighbours: Andrew Feinstein, a son of Holocaust survivors who is married to a Muslim woman from Bangladesh and served six years as an MP for the ANC ; and Nathan Gefen, who has a male Muslim partner and was a member of the right-wing Betar movement in his youth. Gefen is active on the Committee against AIDS in his AIDS-ravaged country.
