From several types of Herpes, to H1N1. Most have treatments none have true cures. While scientists study these endlessly, the big pharmaceutical companies are not funding research for cures. There is no big future profit if there is no disease. There is huge profit in treatments, and medicines. Funding for cure research comes from "venture philanthropy", private donation and other non-governmental groups and grants. A lot of money for college research comes from the alumni, and very little from government grants.
